1
now is that a police press conference in San Diego on this shooting in San Diego at the mosque.
2
Let's listen in.
3
Officers were also responding to that call for service at the same time.
4
There was a landscaper that was doing his work that was shot at and fortunately was not hit.
5
That was at about the 7100 block of Salerno,
6
which is just a couple blocks from here.
7
Moments later at the 3800 block of Hatton,
8
officers were called to
9
that location where they found a vehicle in the middle of
10
the street with who we believe to be the shooters in this incident, both deceased.
11
The circumstances that led up to this and the details of what happened
12
and exactly which time it happened will come out in the days ahead.
13
I can tell you, in 28 years,
14
this is the most dynamic and impressive response that I have ever seen in policing.
15
We have every single police officer available throughout our county
16
that dropped what they're doing and did exactly what they're trained to do, run towards gunfire.
17
I could not be more proud and I cannot express the gratitude,
18
the willingness to step into harm's way in a moment like this.
19
And I tell you what got me.
20
Watching the kids come running out.
21
Just thankful to be alive.
22
I want to bring up Mark Remley from the FBI.
23
Because of the Islamic Center location,
24
We are considering this a hate crime until it's not.
25
And at this point, we're going to work closely with the FBI to make sure
26
that we are matching all the resources that we need for this investigation.
27
So, Mark.
28
Good afternoon.
29
My name is Mark Premily.
30
I'm the special agent in charge of the FBI's San Diego field office.
31
Today, the FBI responded to assist our local law enforcement partners at the Islamic Center of San Diego.
32
This was based on reports of an active shooter.
33
As the Chief said, what we know at this time is that there are three deceased adult males
34
and those are the presumed victims at this time.
35
On behalf of the FBI,
36
we extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victims of this tragic incident.
37
There were two subjects, both teenagers and both are confirmed deceased.
38
I want to thank our local law enforcement partners for their quick response that undoubtedly saved the additional loss of life.
39
The FBI is meticulously assessing the situation
40
and is prepared to employ every resource we have to uncover the facts of this incident.
41
No community should have to grow through such a tragic incident,
42
but we will work tirelessly to learn the truth.
43
We have on scene a number of special agents,
44
task force officers, our evidence response personnel,
45
victim specialists, and many more.
46
As we work through this investigation,
47
we ask for your patients to determine any motive and facts associated with the shooting.
48
The FBI continues to ask for the public's help in providing any information that could help us resolve this investigation
49
or remind the public that any detail,
50
no matter how small, could be useful.
51
The FBI has set up a digital media tip line for information regarding the shooting.
52
We ask that the public submit their tips to FBI.gov or call 1-800-PAL-FBI for any information you may have.
53
Thank you.
54
One more piece of information that I feel to put out.
55
There is a reunification center set up at 4125 Hathaway where parents can be reunified with their kids
56
and any of their loved ones that might be related to the Islamic Center.
57
That is the location where you can be reunified.
58
Next I want to bring up the mayor of San Diego, Mayor Todd Gloria.
59
Thank you, Chief.
60
I want to be here to reemphasize what our police chief said.
61
The threat apparently has been addressed.
62
Children are safe, and that is a good thing.
63
Obviously, we've had the loss of life here at the Islamic Center of San Diego.
64
To our local Muslim community,
65
my prayers are with you.
66
I want to assure our Muslim community
67
that we will do everything in tanks to make sure
68
that you can feel safe in this city
69
and no resource will be spared in making sure that our religious institutions and locations are protected in this sensitive time.
70
Again to respond to our calls to clear the area to allow law enforcement to do their jobs.
71
I ask you to continue to do that you hear otherwise.
72
As she said, students can be picked up at the church just down the street here.
73
That information already sent out.
74
Obviously we'll have more comments later today,
75
but at this moment I want to simply express my immense gratitude in
76
that of all four million San Diegans for the incredible law enforcement response that we saw here today.
77
As Chief mentioned, response within four minutes.
78
We train for this is what we we ask of our public safety professionals
79
and they absolutely deliver in the way that we ask them to do so.
80
I appreciate our San Diego Police Department,
81
our San Diego Fire Rescue Department,
82
our Chief of the Fire Department is here as well,
83
as well as our local,
84
state, and federal partners, many of whom have been in touch with me directly,
85
recognizing the gravity of this situation and why it is such a tragic situation for
86
which there will be a lot more work to be done in the days and weeks and months ahead.
87
Again, my condolences to the victims and their families.
88
The Muslim community, one of our great leaders is here in Taha.
89
We have directly impacted this time for making sure that we do everything that is necessary.
90
To investigate the incident that was here today.
91
But to reiterate, as I always will,
92
it has no place in the city of San Oh,
93
and when it happens in crime of any nature occurs,
94
we will hold you accountable.
95
Again, appreciation public professionals.
96
I'll turn it back to our chief.
97
I'll open it up to questions here in just a second.
98
I want you to keep in mind,
99
we're giving you what we have and what we know at this point,
100
and there's a limitation of what we can go into at this point until we can confirm information.
101
So with that, we'll open up to a couple questions.
102
Thank you for asking.
103
How many total are deceased?
104
So we have our two suspects that are deceased.
105
We have three victims at the Islamic Center.
106
All three are adults.
107
for a total of five people that are deceased related to this incident.
108
I want to confirm the Ebola,
109
the countywide one that went out this morning,
110
that that was an incident again,
111
but for a matter of one thing that is actually a car, Scott Buster, Michigan.
112
Yeah, so we are actively investigating that right now to figure out and piece together exactly what led to this moment.
113
And as we get that information confirmed and verified,
114
we'll be back out here providing more details moving forward.
115
So the suspects at this point appear to have died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
116
There were no officers involved in firing their weapons.
117
Um, but that is still very preliminary at this point.
118
Uh, but that's what we believe right now.
119
Two males.
120
Uh, at this point, we believe them to be 17 and 19.
121
Suspects identity was put out in the air pretty quickly with what the suspect already known
122
and they had planned this and people were aware of this report happen.
123
So again, we are actively investigating the things that led up to this.
124
Obviously these things don't typically just happen on a whim.
125
And the information that we knew preceding it is what we're actively looking into.
126
And once we get that information verified and assembled, we will provide it.
127
Yes, ma'am.
128
Yeah.
129
So the Islamic Center does have security.
130
One of the deceased is a security guard that works there.
131
And I think played a pivotal role in assisting from this being much worse.
132
Chief, are there cameras there?
133
Yes.
134
Yeah.
135
The Islamic Center does have cameras and there is footage.
136
There's going to be a tremendous amount of information and details
137
that we're going to try to sort and put this puzzle back together again.
138
Not confirmed.
139
No, we don't.
140
Shannon, you know, I don't necessarily know,
141
you know, which locations were put on,
142
on, you know, a lockdown.
143
There's other neighboring schools in the area.
144
It's standard protocol.
145
When information like this comes out with an active shooter,
146
we try our best to get that information out
147
and either shelter in place or evacuate from the area if it's ideally safe to do so.
148
So that would not be outside of protocol for that to happen.
149
Just one more question.
150
Yes.
151
When they interrupted the scene,
152
did they see us still?
153
Or did they bring us inside of the camp?
154
So our initial officers that got on scene did not engage with the suspects in the parking lot.
155
They began to make entry into the Islamic Center.
156
They observed three deceased bodies outside of the center,
157
which obviously forced them to engage in an active shooter response
158
and immediately deploy inside of the Islamic Center and start working from room to room.
159
They did have to breach doors to get into all of the different rooms.
160
Extremely chaotic.
161
There was somewhere between 50 to 100 police officers inside of that facility.
162
All of you that responded here could see how many officers
163
and deputies from around the county that were surrounding the outside of the facility.
164
We also have the scene a couple blocks away
165
where we had active gunfire coming in on a landscaper that was just out there doing his job.
166
Thankfully, he's okay, was not hit.
167
He was not injured.
168
But we got a lot of work to do to try to figure out what led up to this
169
and exactly what actions took place but I can tell you with 100% certainty.
170
The heroic actions of the responding officers and deputies is beyond words.
171
To know that this many of our public servants are willing to leave their loved ones behind,
172
drop what they're doing, and run towards gunfire without asking any questions is remarkable.
173
You mentioned one of the victims,
174
the security guard, Can you tell us anything about the U.S letter of the organization?
175
Not yet.
176
We're obviously making notifications as we speak to family and loved ones,
177
and so I want to respect that.
178
So, we will be back.
179
We will be back with more information a little bit later today.
180
Thank you, guys.
181
Would Bob like to say anything?
182
All right.
183
We have been listening to the police chief in California giving an update there.
184
It's the largest mosque in San Diego area.
185
There was a shooting today.
186
Three adult victims are dead.
187
There's a school on the campus as well.
188
Two shooters are dead and apparently from self-inflicted gun wounds.
189
And they were described by the FBI agent there as teens.
190
And the police chief said they believe they are ages 17 and 19.
191
All the children at the school were safe.
192
And the police officer there,
193
the chief, saying that they will consider this a hate crime until it is not.
194
It's still early in this situation.
195
Just to recap, three adult victims were killed today.
196
And it appears that the suspects were two teenagers who died of self-inflicted gun wounds.
197
So more to come on that.

Ecco alcuni consigli su come praticare efficacemente:
