Pratica di Shadowing: How Tech Salaries Work 💸, AI Chat with Google UX Lead, I'm moving?| Biz Analyst Diary - Impara a parlare inglese con i video

Creazione lezione...
1
Last week, I found out my ex -co -worker became a millionaire.
2
So this is how tech salaries work.
3
Base salary, bonus, stock option.
4
Now it's worth $400K.
5
But, a UX lead, we go shopping.
6
So what do you spend the most of your time on now that there's AI?
7
They don't have any more.
8
This is so cool!
9
This is so cool!
10
So last week, my ex -co -worker told me that he almost became a millionaire from his salaries, and I was like, "What?" So this is how tech salaries work.
11
There are three components to it: the base salary, the bonus, and the stock option, which is how people could become essentially rich or not.
12
So first, for base salary, you can usually find the base salary range on most US job descriptions.
13
And in the US, your base salaries are paid every two weeks.
14
Second part is bonuses.
15
Bonuses can have two types.
16
One is annual bonus, which is usually 10 to 20 % of your base salary.
17
And inside a tip, if you're on the revenue driving teams and tech in sales, partnerships, BD, the bonus tends to be closer to 20%.
18
Then there's also sign -on bonus.
19
It's a one -time payment.
20
Usually it's around 20k to 60k depending on your years of experiences.
21
Then the third part, the stock or companies call it equity.
22
why.
23
So in tech, there are two types of stock.
24
The most common one is RSUs and that's what most big public tech companies like Google, Netflix, even Spotify, will give their employees.
25
Basically, RSU is like they award you a dollar amount that's a $100 ,000 worth of stock.
26
If the company stock is $100, then you get a thousand shares
27
but there's a catch obviously the company is smart right they
28
don't want you to just work there for two months get all the stock
29
and quit and then become really rich no
30
so there's something called a vest and a cliff vest determines the frequency
31
when the stock will be vested or released to you
32
and for spotify it was vested over four years that's kind of the phrasing you hear
33
and some companies are even more strict where there's a cliff you have to work certain months or certain
34
rich from this basically when the stock price shot up 4x your stock value is also 4x
35
so if you were given 100k worth now it's worth 400k but if the stock goes down
36
then your value could also go down too.
37
And because Albert, my boyfriend, also just finished his MBA, and as he's reviewing multiple offers, which part of the salary should you negotiate first?
38
First, you always, always start negotiating with your base salary for two reasons.
39
One, your base salary is tied to your bonus and your promotions, right?
40
When you get promoted, it's based off of your base salary.
41
Then you negotiate your stock, hoping that, you know, there's long -term upside and hopefully the company does well.
42
Then the last thing to negotiate is the sign -on bonus.
43
Pro tip, most of the time sign -on bonus actually comes from a different call center than your team's budget.
44
So most of the time they're more lenient on giving you sign -on bonus.
45
And if you want to hear more about the financial parts of working tech, comment the word tech and I will share more in the future.
46
I'm going to meet my friend at the Google office.
47
She's a designer there.
48
She actually now lives in London.
49
It's been a while since I've worked from an actual office at a tech company.
50
so she got a little coffee.
51
- So much care.
52
- Yeah, that's a lot.
53
You're gonna get a shot.
54
- I love it.
55
- This is Juliet.
56
What are you doing?
57
Tell the audience how big of a global city they are.
58
I'm a UX lead for Google Shopping.
59
You're elite now.
60
I drive a lot of vision work and strategy.
61
So what do you spend the most of your time on now that there's AI?
62
Previously when I was doing vision work or when I was like experimenting with the AI shopping stuff, we would prototype things or write code really quickly.
63
It's faster to prototype now and people can actually feel it.
64
Yeah you can kind of understand what's feasible.
65
I feel like you don't need to build a perfect thing. with it.
66
Oh, seriously?
67
Yeah, you just experiment, play around with it.
68
Get feedback.
69
Show people what you build.
70
Yeah.
71
I feel like I'm not using AI as much because the work
72
that I'm doing is so like vision -y or it's So, day -to -day execution.
73
It sounds like it's more high -level identifying opportunities, right?
74
Yeah.
75
When I became more senior in my role, less about doing, more about like, delegating.
76
Yeah.
77
And like enabling and influencing.
78
You're trying to be like, "Okay, what's next?
79
How can we push this project forward?" I'm working on my app as well, and I feel like now my day job and my night job feels really similar.
80
That's good!
81
I love when people have a 9 to 5 and they're also building something.
82
Because at some point you realize you're not your job.
83
You're very good.
84
You're...
85
Got it asking questions.
86
If you also use AI tools like cloud or cursor to get work done, then this is for you.
87
Most people use AI assistant to write code or drag content, but the moment you ask it to do something, send an email, update a spreadsheet,
88
log a task, it hits a wall.
89
Because it can't actually connect to all your apps.
90
And that's where Zapier MCP comes in.
91
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol.
92
It's basically a bridge that lets your AI agent take real action across more than 9 ,000
93
from tools like Claw code or cursor.
94
That's it halfway through building my app Bloom.
95
I thought of a feature that I wanted to add.
96
Instead of stopping to go write it down, I can tell Claw to save it to Notion and Zapier and Zippy handled it instantly.
97
Never had to break my workflow.
98
And if you want something even more robust, Zapier SDK is the same idea, but built for when you're actually working in code.
99
You can plug your AI coding agent into 9 ,000 apps with auth, governance, and reliability built in.
100
So your workflows don't break.
101
more reliability, and same ecosystem.
102
So if you feel limited by your AI tools, check out Zapier MCP in the link below.
103
Thank you.
104
- Right.
105
Ice Americano.
106
It's been so hot these days.
107
Quick update on my App Bloom.
108
I've been working with a product designer.
109
She's actually my IG Reel editor.
110
I realized she was this whole time by coding on the side and she got so good at it.
111
I was like, we should work together.
112
I love when people put themselves out there because when you do that, not only do you show resilience, you show courage, you show ambition and drive because a lot
113
I'm going to paint my mom's face It will be in the same place
114
And we need to make sure that the app will be written in the app.
115
So I think that the app will be like that.
116
Chachapis.
117
But I think this is a really great start where we see everything
118
and what it could be in a home that I show.
119
When we're talking about like the UI /UX, I realize it's just like editing a video.
120
You start with a bunch of footage and then you start funneling down, funneling down.
121
A lot of people tend to think about the design, like the little color, everything.
122
But to my designer's point, you got to think about what the strategy is what your users are
123
and so now we're really just focusing on okay what is our MVP
124
and what are the core features that we want to build out you We're in Boston for our friend's wedding.
125
We're gonna go get some coffee.
126

Grammatica ed Espressioni nel Contesto

Nel video, troviamo alcune strutture grammaticali ed espressioni che meritano attenzione:

  • “So this is how tech salaries work”: Questa struttura è utile per spiegare un concetto, molto comune nel linguaggio parlato. Usalo per presentare argomenti complessi.
  • “the base salary, the bonus, and the stock option”: La ripetizione in sequenza è una tecnica efficace per chiarire punti importanti durante la conversazione.
  • “you should negotiate first”: L'uso del condizionale "should" è fondamentale per esprimere consigli.
