1
good morning guys and welcome to a new vlog i'm filming this on my old vlogging camera
2
so it feels a little bit weird
3
but we are in edinburgh it is actually my birthday today
4
if anyone didn't know my sisters and i all shared the same birthday
5
so we've just come away on a little family trip for the week in edinburgh
6
and i'm so excited i haven't been to edinburgh in about two years
7
and it's one of my favorite cities in the entire world
8
so we're just gonna have a really good time
9
and i don't know how much i'm gonna end up vlogging
10
but i thought i would just do it just
11
so we can look back on it
12
if you can hear a slight buzzing apologies the boiler is right in the room
13
that we're staying in so it might be a little bit annoying
14
but we're going to leave in about 10 minutes this morning we're going to do dean's village stock bridge
15
and just honestly walk around it's a really gorgeous sunny day like blue skies
16
which i'm
17
so happy about yeah i feel like it's going to be
18
really funny trying to vlog in this tiny airbnb with six of us
19
but i'm really excited for today it doesn't even feel like
20
my birthday i can't believe i'm yeah i'm gonna spiral it's the birthday spiral
21
but it's gonna be a good day i'm excited and i'll for bringing you guys along with us.
22
.
23
good morning guys it's come to my attention
24
that yesterday i did not film anything at all other than
25
some b-roll obviously yesterday was our birthday we had a really
26
lovely day we spent the entire morning in dean's village
27
because the weather was just perfect it was sunny it was blue skies.
28
It was literally the dreamiest birthday weather.
29
I couldn't have asked for better.
30
We walked around some shops and I had one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my entire life.
31
I'll pop the place up here.
32
I would highly recommend, I believe it's near or in Stockbridge.
33
It was just such a lovely day and then it was raining and then we came back, freshened up.
34
We went out for dinner and then we walked around near the castle at night and today we're here.
35
We don't know exactly what we're doing today.
36
I feel like today's definitely a little bit more of a chill day.
37
We're going to go for brunch but this morning I woke up,
38
I don't know if it's,
39
I honestly think it's because we got caught in the rain last night.
40
I woke up with such a head cold,
41
like my head was pounding in the morning,
42
my nose was really runny
43
so I'm just really really hoping I don't get ill for the last couple of days that we are here.
44
But today is definitely a little bit more of a spontaneous one.
45
We're going to go to some photo booths,
46
some shops, just walk around.
47
I love Edinburgh so much,
48
I just love chilling around here and walking around,
49
it's my favourite thing so I don't know exactly what the plan is.
50
Hopefully I will talk to you guys a little bit more in this vlog today than I did yesterday
51
because yesterday I really just wanted to soak up the day obviously
52
because it was our birthday but we're having such a lovely time
53
and I feel like it's going so quick
54
so I'll take you guys along with us whatever we end
55
up doing again today like I said hopefully I do talk to the camera more
56
but I hope my headache goes away soon but I'm excited nonetheless
57
we
58
are
59
currently in canoes everyone is getting a cold milkshake what would you break your milkshake out of there?
60
Hey.
61
I am, that's not too bad.
62
Heather and I got a blank street and now we're walking down Victoria Street and I'm excited.
63
so good
64
morning it's our last full day in edinburgh
65
and i again it's another really spontaneous one it's a really chill one we're gonna go around some shops
66
so first of all we're gonna get some lunch at cot it's a french restaurant
67
that i've never been before you've been
68
i feel like this vlog is going to be really short
69
and 90 b-roll so again i'm going to try and make sure
70
that i actually talk
71
but we're gonna have
72
lunch we have been walking around for a
73
while
74
and we've just taken pictures out in front of the castle
75
i honestly i never want to leave edinburgh every single time
76
that i come here i end up just wanting to move here i look around
77
and then i'm just literally trying to think actively as to how i can make that happen
78
hi guys as you can see i am now back from
79
edinburgh i did not film essentially anything the morning of us coming back
80
because our train got cancelled not only did our train get cancelled
81
but essentially every lner service on the hour got cancelled and only the ones that half passed
82
two kings cross were running so it was absolute chaos
83
so i meant to get the train at 1 p.m
84
and get to london for about 5 however i ended up getting home
85
that night at 11 p.m so i just didn't film anything
86
that aside i had the loveliest time in edinburgh edinburgh just
87
feels like such a home away from home for me now
88
even though i've only been a handful of times it's one
89
of my favorite cities ever it's just one of those places
90
that i can definitely see myself living in and i just love the city.
91
I love the people in it.
92
I love everything to do there.
93
I'm just obsessed with Edinburgh so much.
94
So getting to go there again was a real joy.
95
I thought before I end off this vlog,
96
I could give you a little haul of all of the things that I bought.
97
I did not buy a lot in Edinburgh.
98
I really didn't want to come home with all that much.
99
I know it was my birthday.
100
I got some beautiful, beautiful gifts.
101
However, I wanted to be very mindful of what I was buying.
102
So first and foremost, I suppose we should go through the things
103
that maybe I bought myself and then gifts that I got when we were there.
104
First and foremost, we're going to talk about this first because this This is one of the strangest,
105
most insane things that I've ever found in my entire life.
106
So if you are not new here,
107
you will know how much I love to thrift things and books.
108
Finding antiques, whether that's in furniture or books,
109
also thrifting clothes and just vintage items.
110
I love it so much.
111
So I'm always venturing.
112
I'm always looking in charity shops.
113
I'm always looking in flea markets, antique shops.
114
However, it was on my birthday morning.
115
We were walking to Dean Village
116
and on the way we randomly walked past this massive charity shop that was solely second-hand books.
117
I had never heard about this bookshop before.
118
I had never seen this bookshop before and I'm just in there browsing
119
and my mum and my boyfriend are kind of going further down into the bookshop.
120
It was honestly massive.
121
And then they're like, Leah,
122
you need to come here because you're going to want to buy this.
123
And what they saw behind a glass cage was a signed copy of The Little Friend by Donna Tartt.
124
Now, obviously, again, if you are new here,
125
you may not know, but Donna Tartt is one of my favourite authors.
126
The Secret History is one of my favourite books of all time,
127
but I do also really love The Goldfinch.
128
The Little Friend is the only book from her that I've yet to read.
129
And actually this shelf right here,
130
you probably can't see it very well,
131
is a Donna Tartt shelf.
132
I really do collect her books.
133
And as they call me over and I'm looking at it, it's £10 pounds,
134
10 pounds for a signed Donna Tartt,
135
which later on I find out that this is actually a first edition,
136
I don't care so much for first editions,
137
more so the fact that it's signed babe, how crazy is that?
138
It's insane to find it anyway,
139
but especially on my birthday morning,
140
and as I said, I do collect Donna Tartt books,
141
and I very luckily have signed copies of both The Secret History and The Goldfinch,
142
not the little friend though,
143
so now I've got a little complete signed collection,
144
which is so crazy, and I cannot believe that I got this for 10 pounds,
145
but what gets even weirder,
146
Well firstly actually I'll show you the signature.
147
It says for Grant Donna Tartt and honestly just to prove that it was £10 it says it on that little note.
148
What is very strange that on our last night in Edinburgh obviously I started packing my suitcase
149
and I was putting this into the suitcase and what fell out was a newspaper article.
150
I did not see this initially at all
151
when buying the book obviously as you can see it's a newspaper article about Donna Tartt.
152
This newspaper article guys it is so weird.
153
This newspaper is from Thursday the 2nd of October.
154
2003
155
and the page the donna tart page babe is page 14
156
my birthday is on the 14th of april i don't know why grant i'm assuming put the newspaper article of
157
when this book was first published
158
and i don't know who grant is i desperately want to try
159
and find out who grant is
160
but i fear like it would be impossible i will never know just seeing
161
that it was so strange
162
and felt very faithful i don't really know i feel like there was a lot
163
that happened on this trip and tiny little things that we saw
164
that made the trip feel very fateful for me
165
and also my family and just this was one of the really weird ones.
166
I cannot believe that I found this for £10.
167
I cannot believe that I found it at all.
168
A signed on a tart on my birthday in Edinburgh,
169
literally a dream, probably my favourite thing that I found obviously.
170
Carrying on with the media that I bought myself,
171
we then have another book and the only other book
172
that I bought in Edinburgh that is Light and Fred by Han Kang.
173
I absolutely love Han Kang.
174
I knew that she had a new release but this one is actually a non-fiction.
175
It's some part memoir, poetry, essays.
176
I actually started reading this on the journey back,
177
on the train back at half 10 at night and then I finished it literally yesterday and I really,
178
really adored it.
179
It is such a special read.
180
I do feel like reading this as secondary reading alongside those books would give you the best experience but I really,
181
really adored it.
182
I ended up reading it at 4.25 stars, I believe.
183
Then very randomly, I bought myself a vinyl.
184
I didn't intend to buy myself a vinyl specifically in Edinburgh
185
but there's so many vinyls
186
that I really want to get my hands on at the minute this one in particular was one
187
that i knew i wanted to buy the next time
188
that i wanted to buy myself a vinyl
189
and my mum was getting herself one and they had a deal for two
190
so the one
191
that i got was the art of loving by olivia dean
192
like i said i've been wanting this vinyl for a really long time i love this album
193
so much i listen to it all of the time
194
and i feel like this is going to be a perfect
195
vinyl record listening experience for some cleaning flat i just can envision it especially with the sun out
196
so i'm excited to play that and then the last thing
197
that i bought myself as souvenirs and then we'll go on to the things
198
that were gifted to me my boyfriend
199
and I picked out this magnet we obviously just like everybody else we like getting magnets for a place
200
that we visit together we initially did get this one out of all of the ones
201
that we saw in souvenir shops this was our favorite
202
and it kind of matches the one that we got in Paris
203
but then we were furthering the souvenir shops and other shops
204
and we saw this beautiful illustration of Dean Village Dean Village
205
is probably my favorite part of Edinburgh I am just
206
so in love with it it's my it ends up being the favorite thing
207
that I do every time I end up going.
208
And so now we do have two magnets for Edinburgh.
209
I don't know if we're going to put them both on the fridge
210
but we are going to be keeping them both for souvenirs.
211
I love this one so much.
212
So we got those.
213
The last thing for souvenirs,
214
it's my favourite thing to do anyway wherever we go,
215
is photo booth pictures.
216
So I got one for myself.
217
I love getting one on my own especially if it's a birthday trip
218
and then my boyfriend and I also got one together.
219
We'll be putting those on the fridge with the magnets now
220
that this is filmed
221
and then I suppose we'll do only a handful of the sort of gifts
222
that I got in Edinburgh so first and foremost another thing
223
that I've been really wanting for a long time
224
because I haven't had one literally for years
225
and I feel like being an adult you kind of need to have one is a purse I knew
226
that when I next got a purse it would be a purse
227
that I would have for years and years
228
and years all the way into my like actual adulthood and
229
so my mum got me this there are
230
so many gorgeous purses wallets out there I specifically loved all of the ones in coach especially
231
because i do have a handbag that's from coach it's my everyday handbag
232
so i kind of wanted it to match a little bit
233
and so this is the purse
234
that i ended up getting it's a very cute little wallet
235
i am not somebody who needs a big purse i am
236
so in love with this i love the classic coach pattern
237
so much and i'm just obsessed and the fact
238
that i now have a purse i really feel like an
239
adult i love it i just realized i actually can't show you the gifts
240
that my sisters got me because they got me a lot of makeup
241
and it's in my makeup bag and I think my makeup bag is over there.
242
I don't know where it currently is so they did get me makeup but I'm not gonna show it now.
243
My sister's partner who was also on the trip with us got me these Scottish shortbreads.
244
They are my favourite
245
so now every single time I'm ever going to Scotland I'm gonna make sure
246
that I stock up but he got me literally like six boxes.
247
It is these coconut shortbreads.
248
I feel like this is so random but they are so good.
249
They are so moorish.
250
They are delicious with a black tea.
251
I'm obsessed.
252
He also got me a tin of the Nami matcha powder
253
i have been wanting to try this matcha powder for so
254
so long i'm so excited i know it's such a good grade of matcha i've heard it's insane
255
so i'm excited to try that
256
when we were walking around some of the shops we went
257
into black moon botonica i think is what it's called it's a very witchy occult shop
258
and my boyfriend got me this gorgeous little tin i don't
259
know exactly what i'm gonna put inside of it yet
260
but i love it and
261
that actually reminds me i did buy something else let me grab it something else
262
that i've always been so keen in getting my hands on
263
and buying myself
264
but I always knew there was superstitions around getting yourself one
265
as in they should probably be gifted to you is a tarot deck
266
or an oracle deck
267
and I was talking to my sister about how a lot of people say
268
that you should have them gifted to you because of superstitions
269
and the worker there was like you know I actually don't
270
believe this like I do not agree with it I feel like
271
if you see one and it really resonates with you then that's your sign to get it
272
and I did find one that I really really liked
273
and it is the green witches oracle deck I just love this for
274
so many reasons I love the spirituality element of it I wouldn't say
275
that I'm necessarily the most spiritual person on earth
276
but I do love the idea of it
277
and I love the concept of it and I love dabbling into it
278
so I want to do
279
that a little bit more also the art on these are
280
just absolutely beautiful I'm excited to learn a little bit more about it
281
and then to literally read everyone's oracle every single time they come to this yeah I'm pretty sure
282
that that is all of the stuff that I bought slash was bought for me whilst we were in Edinburgh.
283
Like I said, I had the loveliest time ever.
284
I cannot wait to go back.
285
It's one of my favourite cities ever.
286
I do not know especially what this vlog is going to look like.
287
I feel like there's going to be a lot more b-roll than actually talking clips but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless.
288
I'm excited to watch this back for sure.
289
As always, if you did enjoy this video and you are not yet subscribed,
290
it would mean the world if you stuck around and did subscribe.
291
If you are new here,
292
I do predominantly do bookish videos however I definitely also do
293
lifestyle vlogs I also really love doing a travel vlog here
294
and there I'm hoping to do more traveling in the future I definitely have more trips coming up this year
295
that I will be vlogging and I'm so excited for you to see
296
or if you watch until the very end of the video comment any birthday emoji I feel like
297
that is probably most fitting but yeah guys thank you
298
so much for watching
299
and for spending some time with me today I really really hope you enjoyed
300
and I will see you again very very soon with another video you
