And there's actually several things that he did not fail to mention.

He failed to mention the fact that

when Donald Trump left his left the presidency the first time after in after the 45th term,

Iran's economy was flat on its back.

America was actually in a very good economic place, even considering COVID-19.

And then the Biden administration came in.

The Iranians were able to open up again.

Their economy was rising again,

all under the watch of Joe Biden and the Democrats.

So the Iranians were actually ramping back up to do more enrichment under the Biden administration.

Now Donald Trump has come back to put the Iranian economy flat on its back again.

But if you're going to talk about America's economy,

the only pressure has come from the Iranians closing the Strait of Hormuz because oil prices across the globe have risen.

That's been the major issue.

Now that there appears to be a deal in place,

we'll see what happens with the straits.

But I would anticipate that those oil prices will be tumbling down and gas prices with it here in the United States.

And Congressman, we're waiting to find out exactly what would be in this deal as we think it is coming together.

But I want to play something from General Jack Keene that he said over the weekend,

his worries about making a deal with Iran.

Here's a bit of what he had to say.

If we make this deal,

it's going to empower Iran.

By that, I mean, listen,

they are bruised and weakened to be sure,

but they will remain intact as a result of it.

They're going to conclude that they were able to back down the world's number one economic and military superpower.

That's going to embolden them in terms of their control over their own population and also our allies in the region.

No secret that General Keene's been very supportive of this administration.

So what do you make of his concerns?

His concerns are ones that some have.

But at the end of the day,

the president of the United States,

he's the commander in chief,

and he's going to make the decision that's in the best interest of the United States,

our allies and our people.

And I trust the president to make those decisions.

I think it's important for the American people to understand that where General Keene is coming from,

you have an Iranian regime that is emboldened.

They are emboldened and they are the largest state sponsor of terrorism.

And so we as a country have to constantly,

in my view, keep our foot on their neck with this country,

because if we ignore them and they break out on us,

it's going to be a major problem for the West.

OK, so the House left without a vote on this War Powers Resolution.

The Senate had passed its own version a few days ago.

I want to get your reaction to what some of your Democratic colleagues said when that vote did not happen.

And they said this, Adam Smith,

it tells me that we now have the support to pass the War Powers Resolution,

and they're trying to scramble to figure out some way to avoid that reality.

Jim McGovern made it a little bit more of a blunt statement.

He said, you guys don't have the guts or the blanks to vote on this.

Your response to them?

I think they're both very wrong and inaccurate.

That vote got pulled, excuse me,

because there are actually probably,

I think, about 10 members who had graduation duties.

And so the leadership decided to postpone that vote.

They've brought this resolution on the floor several times.

It's failed every single time on the floor of the House.

So, again, they're wrong.

But you've got to say something if you think you have the upper hand.

The truth is, is that when the Democrats have looked at this conflict or,

frankly, with the Democrats when it comes to foreign policy,

they have been wrong every single time.

And every time they're wrong,

it puts America at more risk.

Do you think there'll be a vote when you guys get back?

I believe so, yes.

Okay, so the Senate also left without voting on reconciliation,

which you guys obviously need them to do their job so you can do your job.

And in part that was

because a number of Republican senators say they were blindsided by this new DOJ anti-weaponization fund that was announced.

They left town and clearly there are some tensions there.

Here's how Punchbowl put it on Thursday.

With less than 24 weeks until Election Day,

President Donald Trump seems almost maniacally focused on doing and saying things

that could harm Republicans' chances of keeping their House and Senate majorities in November.

They say the president appears to have all but given up any pretense that he's concerned about the increasingly fragile Republican majorities.

They talk about security funds for the ballroom,

this new DOJ fund, pushing for this new arch near Arlington National Cemetery.

What's your take on the relationship between the president and Capitol Hill right now?

I think the relationship is fine.

I think the Senate, instead of worrying about some of those items,

they need to go past the Save America Act,

because that's the thing that every American wants to see get done,

and the United States Senate has failed to do so.

Those senators need to do that job and get it done.

Secondarily, if you're now going to bring up issues around this fund or around the ballroom,

and that's going to stop you from continuing from opening up the funding again for our ICE agents,

for our Border Patrol agents,

for our customs agents, then you've misplaced your priorities.

Look, you can be upset about one thing.

That's typical on Capitol Hill.

But you still have to get the job done.

The United States Senate needs to get back to work,

pass that funding out so we can pass it in the House.

We were more than prepared and ready to do so and then senators,

for whatever reason, they got distracted.

They're supposed to be the more senior body.

So just get back and get this stuff done.

So in my view, the Senate needs to finish that funding,

On that issue of the DOJ fund,

which we know from inside that meeting,

Senator Cruz and others have talked about it,

that it got really heated when they were discussing this fund with Attorney General Blanche.

But by the way, he said,

and you've said, there needs to be redress for people who feel like they were unfairly targeted by investigations, by prosecutions.

The acting AG said this could be even Hunter Biden.

I mean, it's not limited to people or parties.

But here's what our colleague Andy McCarthy writes about this over at National Review.

He calls it a slush fund,

an abuse of political power,

not legally wrong, but politically,

he says, the risably labeled anti-weaponization slush fund that the president wants is a profound abuse of political power.

So is the DOJ's conferral of tax immunity on Trump in his private capacity.

These are not legal problems.

They're executive challenges that the Constitution empowers Congress alone to address.

Do you think Congress should have a say in this particular fund and how it's meted out?

I think Congress should have a say in what the outcomes are with this fund.

But this was a negotiation where the IRS,

by the way, did victimize Donald Trump.

And so instead of taking the settlement,

they opened up this fund for other people who have been persecuted politically by our government.

And so this is not something that's new.

Under the Obama administration, there were many settlements with outside groups.

They created a fund.

And then what ended up happening,

you have nonprofits and NGOs who are coming in and making claims on these funds for hundreds of millions of dollars.

People who had no claims at all were making claims on these types of funds.

So this is something that has happened before.

This is not new.

It happened under the Obama administration after the IRS had been sued multiple times and they settled with groups.

The acting attorney general is telling everybody it is not partisan.

Anybody who's been victimized by our government for political purposes,

they can actually apply to the fund.

And so the dollars are there because IRS lost this case

and they settled it because they did victimize the commander in chief.
