1
uh hey guys
2
so today i'm going to be showing you how to blend
3
colorful eyeshadow i'm going to be showing you what not to do
4
and also what to do
5
which would probably be the important part huh really quick before
6
we get started my friend launched this dope nose piece with
7
uh the brand called readymade i'm going to link them down
8
below in case you want to check them out it's sick
9
so the palette
10
that i'm going to be using today is the culture palette from juvia's place ju juvia's place uh
11
which is sick i was on ulta.com and i saw it
12
and i was like i need it so i got it
13
uh and this is what i'm going to be using um all right
14
so i already primed my eyelids with my dominique cosmetics primer
15
so if you're not familiar we're going to talk a base
16
if you're not familiar we're going to talk basics really quick
17
so the color wheel is really going to be helpful here
18
uh we have three primary colors those are yellow red
19
and blue okay then we have three secondary colors those are green purple
20
and orange uh you get green by mixing yellow
21
and blue you get orange by mixing yellow
22
and red you get purple by mixing blue and red okay
23
so those are like the basic colors
24
that you want to know about the cat is trying to
25
get in it's very annoying the opposite colors on the on the color wheel are complementary colors uh
26
which when put next to each other
27
when placed next to each other are going to make each other pop
28
so if you take blue
29
and you put it next to orange they're opposite colors on
30
the color wheel they're really going to bring each other out conversely
31
if you mix those two colors they will neutralize each other
32
so if you have a blue
33
and you mix it with an orange it's going to end
34
up turning into like essentially a brown it ends up being neutral same with yellow
35
and purple some same with red and green so whatever the opposite on the color wheel is, is going to neutralize, which is one of the reasons
36
that people use a green color corrector if they have redness on their face, or if they have like blue tone under their eyes, they'll use a peach color corrector.
37
Now I'm going to use the example of yellow and purple, which in my personal opinion are the worst complementary colors.
38
I just like do not like them at all.
39
And when mixed, they can look real gross, all right?
40
So that's what we're gonna be doing.
41
In the culture palette, I'm gonna be using this shade right here, which I can't read because it's behind, it's in front of me right now.
42
This matte purple.
43
And then I have this yellow up here.
44
Naira, Nairaland?
45
So I'm gonna start off with my Refer01 brush.
46
I'm gonna pick up that purple
47
and I'm going to start packing this on the outer part of the lid and then slowly blend it on the lid,
48
working it into the crease.
49
So just building up that color, focusing it in the outer corner and blending it around the eye.
50
now i'm grabbing my rougher 15 brush a slightly larger fluffy brush
51
and i'm going to dip into that yellow shade this is what you don't want to do now watch what happens
52
when i start blending over that purple see how we got brown
53
now I mean in my humble opinion this isn't the worst thing I think it's kind of edgy
54
and cool but like it might not be what you're going for you know what I mean
55
so I'm going to show you on the other side how to make it a little bit more attractive
56
so when you're working with complementary colors you want to use the color wheel to your advantage right
57
so if I'm trying to gradiate from a purple to a yellow, I want to look at the colors that are between those shades.
58
So if I'm looking at the color wheel right now, if we're moving towards yellow, um, going, well, I mean, it depends on which side you're going,
59
but like maybe I want the progression to be a little bit warmer.
60
Maybe I want to start moving towards the pinks and then the oranges to get to the yellow.
61
I could also move from the purple to the blues, uh, into the greens and then to the yellows.
62
Okay.
63
Today I'm going to be going with the reds and things.
64
So I'm going to go from that purple.
65
On on the other side I'm gonna do the exact same thing once again focusing on the outer part
66
and then blending in and up to the crease alright
67
so let's look at the color wheel so now
68
if we're going in the like the reds direction we want to get to
69
that purple next I could pick up red I could pick
70
up pink I don't want to jump too quickly into like a yellow orange
71
because you can kind of end up with the exact same problem.
72
So you want to make sure that you are progressing.
73
Okay.
74
So what I'm going to do is pick up a clean, fluffy brush.
75
This is the, this is a pretty large one.
76
This is the Ruffer 27 brush.
77
And I'm going to grab a pink color, this color right here, which is this nice kind of like medium toned pink.
78
So you can see the purple.
79
Now we're jumping to this pink as we work our way towards the yellow.
80
And now I'm going to go over that outer part of the purple.
81
So we're creating a gradient.
82
You want to create a gradient into those colors.
83
I'm going to bring this onto the lid and buff into the crease.
84
all right using another brush now I'm going to move in to start moving into the orange shade
85
so I'm gonna get a little bit closer
86
and I'm going to pick up this is Delta this shade right here
87
which is a little bit more of a salmon
88
so it's got a little bit of red a little you can kind of see like the difference between Delta
89
and Kobo now another thing that you can do is kind of like mix
90
so this is like a little bit more red toned I can tap actually you know I am going to do that.
91
I'm going to tap between this one, Delta, and this one right here, which is getting a little bit closer to that yellow.
92
So I'm going to mix those two shades, and then I'm going to use that out here.
93
So not touching the purple at all, blending around that pink.
94
Taking it into the inner part, up to the brow.
95
Going back in with that pink because it started to disappear a little bit.
96
Now finally, I'm going to go in with that yellow.
97
And I'm going to use this on the very outer part, blending all around that orange.
98
you obviously don't have to get like as smoked out as i'm being right now you just use smaller brushes
99
but if we're doing color i want to do color you know what i mean all right guys
100
so obviously you can see a pretty gigantic difference between the
101
colors over here it looks very muddy um you know it
102
when it blends together it just ends up creating
103
that like brown color so it's going to be super flattering so when
104
if you're having a hard time blending colors at all keep
105
in mind the color wheel it's a lot easier to kind of like follow
106
that progression to get to those colors uh now i personally think
107
that this yellow probably would have blended really nicely with the pink
108
so you don't necessarily have to use like so many steps
109
but you don't want to jump too quickly from a purple into its complementary color
110
which is yellow and same with blue and orange same with red
111
and green uh all right guys
112
so i finished off the look it got really smoky
113
and i love it i really hope this was helpful uh
114
i know this was this is like a little bit more advanced as far as like blending color color specifically
115
if you're interested i have other videos on like just blending neutrals blending shimmer
116
and those will be linked down below if i remember
117
if not harass me uh but yeah i hope this was helpful let me know
118
if you want to see more colors like
119
if you want to see green and red i hate doing that because christmas um or like blue and orange
120
or just like i don't know more if you just have color suggestions
121
if you're like i have a hard time blending these colors um this is kind of the basics of blending color
122
so yeah hope it was helpful let me know and uh yeah i'll see you soon
