1
Hey friends welcome back to the channel.
2
This is a very quick announcement video to tell you about the launch of my brand new Skillshare class
3
called Learn Anything with Flashcards, The Ultimate Guide to Anki.
4
You can access it right now for free by hitting the link in the video description
5
and if you don't have a Skillshare account that's fine.
6
You can sign up for a free two-month trial of Skillshare by clicking the link in the video description
7
and then once you've done that you can watch the entirety of this Anki class
8
but you can also check out my other classes on how to study for exams
9
and how to edit videos in Final Cut exactly like this one.
10
Flashcards are one of the best ways to learn anything
11
because they incorporate active recall and spaced repetition in like a really nice fun way
12
and those are the two most effective study techniques
13
and Anki is one of the most popular flashcard apps
14
which hundreds of thousands of students around the world use to memorize large chunks of information
15
so that we can regurgitate it for exams
16
but it's also quite helpful for learning other things like I'm using it for music theory
17
and loads of people use Anki for learning languages.
18
It's a really popular app that's free and across any platform
19
but it does have a bit of a learning curve
20
and I know so many people who tried using Anki
21
but then kind of gave up with it
22
because they just didn't quite get the settings right or they weren't quite using it properly.
23
So that's kind of what we're aiming to teach you in this class, it's a beginner's guide to using Anki along with like a load of advanced stuff and a load of bonus material.
24
So essentially the class is split up into four sections, in section one we're going through the basics of Anki like the basic flashcards,
25
reverse flashcards, closed deletions, image occlusions and sort of the basic ways of making
26
and reviewing flashcards at Anki to kind of memorize stuff.
27
Then in section two, having covered the basics, we're going over some demonstrations.
28
So I'll show you how I make flash cards from lectures, from books and from videos, and we'll talk about how to improve our flashcards to increase their utility over time.
29
Then in section three, we answer frequently asked questions.
30
So I posted on my Instagram story
31
and hundreds of people sent in questions asking things like how long should a flashcard be?
32
How do you avoid flashcard overload?
33
How do you stay motivated to keep doing your flashcards every day?
34
What information do you put on a flashcard?
35
What what do you not put in a flashcard?
36
But also a load of stuff like, you know, do you use Anki instead of Notion versus Anki instead of Google Sheets or Anki versus Quizlet or, you know, how do I know which flashcard app to use?
37
So all of those questions are answered in section three.
38
Then in section four we talk about optimizing our performance in Anki and how we can use tags, add-ons and pre-made decks, most crucially, to supercharge our Anki performance.
39
And then the final section of the course is a bit of a bonus segment where we have interviews with other people, other students from around the world who are using Anki really effectively for all sorts of different subjects
40
and these people from around the world are sharing their own tips on how you can get started with Anki
41
and how to make the process of studying with flashcards much more efficient and enjoyable.
42
All of that and more you can find in the Skillshare class, link in the video description.
43
There's 42 videos in the proper section and then like load more in the bonus section.
44
The class runs over five hours I think.
45
It's quite long, you definitely don't need to watch it in one sitting.
46
In fact what I'd recommend is that
47
if you're a beginner you only watch the first segment
48
and then you start actually applying Anki and using flashcards for your own exams
49
or whatever you want to learn
50
because it's very easy to just kind of sit there
51
and passively absorb like five hours of video content
52
but not really get anything from it so we don't really want that to happen with this class.
53
In the description I'll also put a load of other links
54
to other YouTubers some of whom actually featured in the Skillshare class itself.
55
Links to other kind of getting started resources for Anki so
56
if you don't want and you don't have to watch the Skillshare class
57
but I think it's pretty good we've put a lot of
58
work into it we've been working on it for the last like two months
59
so this is like a combination of effort from me
60
and my team about how you can start using flashcards
61
and how it kind of changes the game because
62
because like genuinely like discovering Anki really did change the game for me in my med school career and meant
63
that I had the time to do other stuff other than
64
just kind of be bogged down by the struggles of doing medicine at Cambridge.
65
I had to get that in there I have to have to get the Cambridge in there somehow.
66
Anyway I've rambled on enough check out the link in video description thanks
67
and I'll see you in the next video bye bye Thank you.

  • "Flashcards are one of the best ways to learn anything because...": Die Kombination von "one of the best" + "because" hilft, Gründe für Empfehlungen zu begründen. Übe: "X is one of the most effective methods to Y because..."
  • "I know so many people who tried using Anki but then kind of gave up...": "So many people who..." + "but" ermöglicht es, konträre Erfahrungen zu beschreiben. Perfekt für Gespräche über Lernerfolge und -schwierigkeiten.
  • "What I'd recommend is that if you're a beginner you only watch...": "What I'd recommend is that..." ist eine höfliche Art, Ratschläge zu geben.

Denke an "yoo-ti-li-ty".
