Hello YouTube!
2
Flashlight enthusiasts here.
3
Finally, I got my hands on the new Acebeam L16 2.0,
4
which is a little upgrade of their old L16 long-range tactical flashlight.
5
What I immediately noticed is the small form factor,
6
despite using a higher capacity 21700 SL and still focusing on over 600 meters of throw.
7
Quick note I got this flashlight directly from Acebeam free of charge however
8
if you are interested in this model I have a special coupon code for our community FAT15
9
that gives you 15% of discount so
10
if you'd like to purchase Acebeam products make sure to use
11
this coupon code for additional savings this does support the channel quite a bit.
12
Acebeam L16 2.0 comes in an attractive standard Acebeam box with flashlight picture on it
13
and key stats representing what could you expect.
14
On the rear we've got some company information, magnetic opening is also quite nice and inside you'll find a bunch of accessories.
15
A good quality velcro holster with Acebeam logo,
16
stretchy fabric and some standard attachments to your belt also plastic during the fitting is quite good actually
17
definitely fits the holster quite well the flashlight itself with the included battery
18
of course an adjustable wrist lineart with ace beam logo a short usb to usbc charging cable
19
two spare o-rings and usb-c charging port rubber cover last
20
but not least all the warnings warranty
21
and user manual in different languages before operating make sure to remove the lens cover
22
as well as unscrew the tail cap and remove the insulation film from the battery compartment
23
so here it is the new age beam l16 2.0 what i immediately noticed is
24
that this flathead is quite compact for a 21 700 cell
25
obviously we've got a standard excellent quality of azim this matte
26
finish of analyzation is the highest quality i know on the market
27
so definitely a reliable tool we've got this single switch uh
28
on the side stainless also nice metal one some engravings hot markings this nice knurling here on the battery tube
29
which gives you nice grip even with wet hands
30
but it's not aggressive on your pockets whatsoever we've got the
31
pre-installed stainless steel pocket clip hard anodized on the black color this is press fit
32
so you can remove it easily with enough force
33
but you'll also scratch the anodization so i wouldn't do
34
that here on the tail cap you've got your lanyard attachment two of them actually
35
but put lanyard here make sure it goes on the side of it
36
because it will disturb the tail standing feature
37
which is by far quite stable without the lanyard we've got nice stainless steel bezel also black one
38
so this looks quite stealth in my view definitely in tactical style
39
and as we notice we've got some threads on the bezel here that's because you've got an optional accessories of
40
orange filter that you can actually screw down to the bezel and now we've got our beam in orange color.
41
It is definitely a good accessory
42
and as you can see there is an anti-reflective coating here
43
to minimize the light losses however you do lose plenty of light with such filters
44
and I really wish it was a red one instead of orange one
45
because as you can see right now on the beam shot section the beam is literally orange
46
which i wouldn't find useful red one is definitely more standard
47
to me it gives you this illusion of warm white led
48
which might be the case
49
but in tactical situations i don't really think it might be useful let me know in the comment section below
50
if you know application of such filter moving on there is this tail cup with a single tactical switch
51
and usbc charging port here under this rubber cover
52
which i'll show you in a second unscrewing the tail cap
53
will reveal a nice set of unanodized threads again uh this
54
is the direction 8b is going from some time uh i really don't like this one
55
because you cannot lock out the flashlight physically
56
which might be quite problematic in some cases nevertheless we've got
57
highest quality spring down there everything looks really premium here as
58
you would expect from acebeam there is included 21700 cell the
59
highest capacity on the market right now 15 amps rated this
60
is a good cell however acebeam thought about us flashlight enthusiasts
61
and you can use the standard unprotected 21700 cells as well in the flashlight
62
so because of the length difference the tension on the spring will be a little bit
63
lighter however you can easily use the flashlight
64
and it does not cause any issues in my view as
65
there is second spring down there in the battery tube as you can see we've got dual tube design
66
so the signal from the switch goes directly to the driver located in the head.
67
However, as I mentioned, you cannot lock out the flashlight physically
68
because the tube is glued on this side and here you've got an unanalyzed thread.
69
So the only option that you can lock out the flashlight is by electronic, which is in the UI luckily.
70
On the tail cap, ASB Incorporated also the USB-C charging port, which is covered by this rubber cover that sits quite tightly, mind you, which is quite good.
71
and down there we've got the standard usbc charging port
72
which is always a nice addition
73
and as you can see there is this hole right there
74
and acebeam offers an additional accessory the tactical switch
75
that could be used with this usbc charging port plug
76
that also can be secured by the screw right there
77
so definitely a tactical application here here is your led charging indicator
78
and once you plug in your usbc charging port you can see
79
that there is green that fully charged
80
because I charged it almost 30 minutes ago
81
and there is also the red one which means charging in process
82
and I have to comment here
83
because as you can see right now on the screen the charging is painfully slow for today's standards
84
and it took me over six hours to fully charge the included 5000 mAh battery
85
which is just absurd so I truly pity every user of LS16
86
that does not have an external charger
87
and it has to rely on a super slow usbc charging in this flashlight
88
if that would be your duty light
89
which is quite good choice uh in my view you definitely need to have a spare cell
90
or two because the charging is just absurdly slow all right moving on
91
and there is this excellent reflector and led choice here
92
so we've got quite a deep reflector despite the small head
93
and there's SFT 40 a meter so quite small die
94
that will illuminate and this results in a super focused beam
95
that will throw over 600 meters
96
which is definitely a great result from such a compact flashlight
97
and the beam is also quite bright around 2000 lumens which is more than enough in most cases.
98
Maybe I forgot to mention this
99
but I got the 5000k version my opal meter however shows
100
a little bit high numbers like 5500k in terms of the ui is quite simple we've got the side switch
101
and you've got the tail switch tail switch is basically your turbo output shortcut
102
so we've got momentary when you have press and
103
when you fully press you've got your turbo constant on
104
and one single click will turn the flashlight off
105
and that's basically the function of tail switch so instant access to turbo
106
when you need it but the rest is definitely
107
serviced by this side switch
108
so one click for on one click for off you can
109
hold the button from off to go into the ultra low
110
which is quite low actually i really like that one and
111
when you hold the switch from on you cycle through low medium medium to high
112
and in the loop
113
so we've got four modes in the loop double tap for
114
turbo output double tap again to return to the previous use mode
115
which is also quite convenient you've got triple click for stroke mode one click for off
116
and you've also got your lockout function as i mentioned before
117
so you have to hold the switch from off wait for the moonlight mode to appear
118
and then wait for blinks
119
and now your flashlight is locked out what i missed here is some kind of indicator of the battery level
120
which is usually located in some vicinity of the switch in
121
ace beam however here in this particular flashlight i think they missed it
122
so you've got only your charging indicator under this rubber cover
123
which is actually covered while not using your charging
124
and it does not act as a battery indicator
125
so you have to rely on the uh runtime your intuition
126
or whatever this flashlight just does not warn you
127
when the battery is running low just lowering the brightness so
128
if you start seeing
129
that flashlight is not shining as bright as it used to then you probably need to replace the batteries
130
so here are my lumen measurements of the 8beam l16 2.0
131
and it included 5000 nm power battery
132
if you need more time feel free to pause the video we can all agree
133
that we buy 8beam products for the quality but also for the performance
134
and l16 is not the exception here i measured around 1848
135
lumens at start this is the 5000k version mind you only included 5000 mAh battery
136
and as you can see we've got over 2 minutes
137
and 40 seconds of stable performance before stepping down from over
138
1557 lumens over the quick step now over the course of
139
20 seconds to around 800 lumen level with flashlight body achieving around 45 degrees celsius mind you
140
and as you can see
141
and as you would expect from 8beam you've got nice regulated driver
142
and flat output regulation around 825 lumens sustained for exactly two
143
hours before as i mentioned flashlight starts to smoothly decrease the brightness leaving you slowly in the dark
144
which is one thing i have to criticize in this excellent
145
performance i repeat excellent really excellent performance of the l16 2.0
146
and if you go one mode down
147
which is the high mode here i measured around 864 lumens and as you As you can see, no step down whatsoever until the 2 hours and 13 minutes mark
148
wherein flashlight steps down from over or around 758 lumens to infinity zero.
149
So smooth output decrease with flashlight body stabilizing 50 degrees Celsius.
150
This is definitely getting hot, but not too hot to handle.
151
And again, I'm really disappointed in this smooth ramping towards zero without any warning. so Thank
152
you. so Thank
153
you so
154
Thank you. so so
155
So, summing up, I really liked the Acebeam L16 2.0 and the design and overall idea of flashlight.
156
I definitely agree that the driver is excellent on this one
157
and sustaining a whopping 800-ish lumens for over two hours is
158
definitely a great result for a flashlight with this head size and even with single emitter.
159
The run times are really great and the performance of this flashlight is undoubtedly respectable.
160
Having over 600 meters of range with this pocket size
161
and instant access to strobe mode and turbo mode is definitely a great companion in duty situations but also outdoor adventures.
162
What I miss in this flashlight is definitely a battery indicator and first of all quick charging.
163
We live in the times when we all value our times
164
and I think that installing one amps charging with such high capacity battery is definitely a killer for such a model.
165
Last but not least unanalyzed threads is definitely a safety concern for me
166
because you cannot lock out the flashlight physically which might get handy in some travel situations or even tactical scenarios.
167
Overall definitely great design and application however with some flaws that might be too much for the users to handle.
