1
Hello from Maine.
2
I've made it to Maine, finally.
3
I've been meaning to do this trip for like five years.
4
I have heard so many wonderful things about this state and I am so excited to be here.
5
I'm currently in Acadia National Park,
6
which was one of the main things I wanted to see here.
7
It's a beautiful forested park out on coastal islands.
8
You have beautiful scenic drives and great hikes and incredible water views.
9
It's about 4 30 a.m and I've just arrived to the top of Cadillac Mountain.
10
This is supposed to be one of the best places to view the sunrise in the park
11
but the tricky thing is it's looking pretty cloudy
12
but i'm already learning
13
that the weather here on a coastal island is very unpredictable
14
So that was definitely not the sunrise I wanted,
15
but I think I got something even better.
16
Instead of a sunrise, there was this foggy cloud inversion.
17
You could see lights from boats piercing through the fog as they moved through the water.
18
Something really important you need to know
19
if you're planning a trip to Acadia is this road up to the summit of Cadillac Mountain is accessible by reservation only.
20
And they will sell out,
21
especially the special sunrise reservation time.
22
You can also hike to the summit.
23
I hear it's kind of a challenging hike.
24
For something like sunrise, it's just a lot easier to drive up here.
25
Another road you'll definitely want to drive in the park that doesn't require a permit is the Park Loop Road.
26
This is a 27-mile scenic drive with lots of interesting points along it.
27
Some of my favorites were the Otter Cliffs area,
28
which is an easy place to pull over and see some great views,
29
and Jordan Pond, which has a scenic walking trail around it,
30
and there are some hikes in this area as well.
31
Another great spot in the park is the Bass Harbor Head Light Station.
32
This is on the other side of the park,
33
so it's a bit of a drive,
34
but it's a beautiful lighthouse nestled into a cliff.
35
This morning, I'm hiking the Beehive Loop Trail.
36
It's one of the most popular hikes in the park and I'm mostly excited.
37
I'm a little nervous about it
38
because everything I've read everywhere says do not do this hike if you're afraid of heights and don't bring kids.
39
I guess there are ladders you have to climb up
40
and like skinny spots on cliffs and it's supposed to have epic views.
41
so that
42
was so cool i'm so glad i went and did
43
that hike i would definitely recommend it if you come to Acadia unless you have a fear of heights.
44
What a great way to start a day
45
and now I'm going to leave the park head into town and get some coffee.
46
The town I'm currently staying in is Bar Harbor and it is this beautiful little picturesque town on the coast.
47
It's right next to the park and I highly recommend staying here
48
if you are coming to Acadia because the drive into the park is super easy.
49
But I also feel like Bar Harbor is worth visiting just on its own.
50
I mean, if you come here,
51
you definitely want to do the park too because it's so close, but it's beautiful.
52
It has a really nice waterfront and a shore path that wraps around it.
53
It has lots of shops and restaurants and cute hotels and little B&B style cottages.
54
Something that has been so fun on this trip is flying the new DJI Air 3 drone on the on the coastline,
55
not in the national park.
56
It is so illegal to fly drones in national parks.
57
Don't ever do it.
58
Huge thank you to DJI for sending this to me.
59
You can also do a lot just in Bar Harbor as well.
60
They have a lot of tours.
61
You can go kayaking, paddle boarding.
62
I signed up for a puffin tour
63
and they took me 20 miles off the coast to an island where Atlantic puffins reside,
64
which is really fun.
65
I also saw lots of seals.
66
I saw a bald eagle and tons of lighthouses.
67
So I definitely recommend getting out on the water if you come here.
68
The only thing better than road tripping the coast of Maine
69
in the summertime is road tripping the coast of Maine with this.
70
For starters, it has two cameras.
71
So you have your 1X camera,
72
which is a 24 millimeter equivalent.
73
It's wide.
74
It's what you're used to seeing on a drone.
75
And then there's also the 3X camera,
76
which is a 70 millimeter equivalent.
77
It creates a really nice background compression for your shots
78
and it's nice for the subjects you don't wanna get too close to.
79
There are a lot of really pretty boats in this harbor,
80
but I don't wanna go fly my drone right up next to somebody's boat to get a picture of it.
81
So with this, I'm able to hang back and still get the shots and it has omnidirectional obstacle sensing,
82
which is new for the airline.
83
And it has the O4HD video transmission that has a 20 kilometer range.
84
Something I am most excited about is the 46 minute flight time.
85
These new drones that DJI is releasing with these increased flight times are a completely different flying experience.
86
When I used to fly drones with a shorter flight time,
87
I always felt pressure to be really mindful of time
88
to be quick and like get my shots fast
89
because I'm not going to be able to hang out up in the sky forever.
90
But 46 minutes, I am relaxed.
91
I put this thing up.
92
I mosey around.
93
I shoot everything I want to shoot usually twice.
94
I'm going to be getting so much use out of this because it's the sweet spot.
95
It's robust enough that it has all of the features it has,
96
but it's still compact and lightweight and not a burden to carry around and easy to travel with.
97
So definitely check it out and I'll have a link down in the description.
98
Something else kind of cool you can do right here in town is when the tide is low,
99
a sandbar emerges that you can walk across to explore Bar Island.
100
They say it's safe to cross 90 minutes before low tide and 90 minutes after low tide,
101
but if you get stuck over there,
102
it's nine hours before it's safe to cross again.
103
So you either have to wait it out or they have a sign
104
that says there's a water taxi that will come rescue you for $150.
105
After my time in Bar Harbor,
106
I had a couple extra days to check out some other spots on the coast
107
and you all on Instagram gave me some awesome recommendations for towns to stop in.
108
Like Camden that has incredible views from the top of Mount Batty.
109
Old Orchard Beach that has a waterfront full of attractions.
110
This was such a fun place for aerial photography.
111
It was probably my favorite spot.
112
I flew the entire trip.
113
The new The new DJI Air 3 shoots 4K at up to 100 frames per second,
114
which is wild.
115
It also does 2.7K vertical shooting and the photos are so good too.
116
It takes both 12 and 48 megapixel photos.
117
I also visited the town of Agunquit that had this really cool pedestrian drawbridge in Perkins Cove that boats pass under.
118
And of course, I tried to stop and photograph as many lighthouses as I could.
119
You could spend an entire month visiting lighthouses in Maine.
120
There are so many and they're all unique.
121
So this is the lighthouse that Forrest Gump runs to in the movie.
122
It's just about 5am, I'm at the Portland Head Light and I'm the only one here.
123
And look at this morning I'm getting, oh my gosh.
124
I would say the Portland Head Light was my favorite lighthouse of the trip.
125
I mean, it's the kind of lighthouse you would see in a painting or on a puzzle.
126
The views are beautiful from all sides.
127
There's waves crashing against the rocks.
128
Definitely make a stop here if you're driving the coast of Maine.
129
So this is the end of my trip.
130
I absolutely loved Maine.
131
I would say it's one of my favorite parts of the country I've visited to date.
132
And I also know there's so much I still haven't seen.
133
I didn't even realize until I got here that Maine has the largest moose population in the lower 48.
134
So now I'm like, I need to come back and go to all the moose wildlife areas and watch for moose.
135
If Maine isn't already on your travel list,
136
it definitely needs to be.
137
However, I will say if you're able to visit in the shoulder season,
138
I would recommend it.
139
One, because it's cheaper.
140
The hotel prices alone in the summertime are just through the roof.
141
And then of course it's busier.
142
So if you can come in the spring or the fall.
143
I'm sure it's still absolutely beautiful then,
144
especially in the fall with the fall colors.
145
Thank you for watching, and again,
146
thank you so much to all of you on Instagram who gave me tips for places to visit.
147
It was so helpful in finalizing my itinerary.
148
I hope you're doing well,
149
and I will see you in the next one.
150
Bye.
151
I almost just walked through this little path here.
152
Do you see what this sign says?
153
oh my god

Practice Tips

To effectively practice using the shadowing technique with this video, focus on the natural rhythm and tone of the speaker’s voice. Start by listening to a short segment of the transcript and then repeat immediately after the speaker, mimicking both the intonation and pronunciation. Since the video contains enthusiastic expressions and descriptions, pay attention to how emotions are conveyed through tone.

Consider breaking your practice into segments, especially for complex phrases, so you can hone in on challenging vocabulary. Using shadowspeak will not only help in improving your accents but also prepare you for the timing and flow of real conversations, which is valuable for IELTS speaking practice.

Record yourself while shadowing and listen back to compare your pronunciation and fluency with the original. This reflective practice will enhance your learning and help you identify areas for improvement. If you encounter phrases you find difficult, revisit them more slowly before trying to incorporate them at full speed.

Ultimately, the aim is to make your English more fluent and expressive, enabling you to share your own travel stories with confidence.
