1
Hello and welcome to my video.
2
My name is Peter and I've had a dilemma for the past few months.
3
The past few months have shown me more and more that this corporate life is truly not the life for me.
4
What's wild is that I know I shouldn't be ignoring this feeling.
5
I felt it in my core for months and I keep trying to push it down.
6
But it's so hard to change.
7
Why is this so hard?
8
I think I know the answer and it's that I'm being a coward.
9
You're still a coward!
10
I really understand now that I'm taking action that it takes so much courage to try to improve your situation.
11
The past few weeks I've had a serious dread of doing anything because I just feel stuck.
12
I've distracted myself with doom scrolling,
13
watching a bunch of YouTube videos,
14
essentially just wasting my life away.
15
But I am glad that I caught this feeling at 24 rather than 44.
16
Let me ask you a question.
17
Between these two choices, would you rather have a life that is mostly mundane,
18
sometimes stable, and possibly unfulfilling.
19
Or, or take a chance where you could live a really adventurous,
20
exciting, full of serendipity life but maybe at times fall short and fail, be broke, possibly.
21
Yeah, which one do you choose?
22
I've worked as an engineer for a large company for over two years now
23
and let me tell you i am done i am done working in the windowless room i'm done with
24
that bs commute i'm done having a large chunk of my day just vanish
25
and the worst part of it is
26
that it's unfulfilling what am i even working towards
27
that justifies me spending 10 hours a day on something
28
that i don't really care about we have two lives and the second one begins when we realize we only have one.
29
There's a life that you want and there's a life that you have.
30
This is my life right now and if you're a corporate cog like me,
31
you know what I'm talking about.
32
So how do you move your reality towards this and away from that?
33
I honestly don't know how my life is going to pan out
34
but I think I'd much rather go down this road of serendipity,
35
adventure, and opportunity than a predictable and in my opinion,
36
boring, meaningless lifestyle of a corporate employee.
37
That is just my personal take on corporate.
38
If you thrive in that environment,
39
then I envy you because you found what you're looking for.
40
I'm still on my way.
41
I just want to remind you that I've got no idea what I'm doing with my life.
42
I'm just shooting darts blindfolded and hoping for one to stick on the board.
43
I just feel for certain that corporate is not in my cards.
44
So I am resigning from this life.
45
I feel like it's locked in my mind and I'll show you how that'll play out in the future.
46
So why now?
47
Why at 24 am I deciding to totally change the course of my life?
48
Well, to be honest, I felt like I should have done this two years ago.
49
But I'm taking action now because there have been a few signs pointing me to just do it.
50
Well, the first reason is that inescapable corporate dread that I felt for months.
51
The other reason is
52
that the YouTube algorithm has been feeding me people living their
53
life without the corporate BS living life on their own terms albeit maybe not the most comfortable
54
and stable but hey that's just life.
55
Some video mentions are why I've avoided pursuing a career by the mountain dispatch
56
and how I funded seven years of adventure travel without working normal jobs by quadzilla hikes.
57
I'll link their videos down below.
58
These two videos appeared back to back on a random day.
59
I watched them both and I could not relate more.
60
It really lit a fire in me to do the courageous thing,
61
and that's to choose life.
62
Don't be a cog.
63
My goal is to position my life where I can wake up excited to do work every day.
64
I want to make as many memories as I possibly can.
65
I want to be around people that I enjoy being in the presence of.
66
Essentially, I just want to spend every waking hour to be something that I care about and don't mind doing.
67
And I know as you're hearing this,
68
you're probably thinking, what is this guy on about?
69
This guy is living in fantasy land.
70
And you know what?
71
I completely agree with you.
72
It does sound crazy, but I ask myself,
73
why does it have to be crazy for me?
74
This is a dream to others and a reality for many.
75
This is why I need to take a chance because people have done it before.
76
This is my first video of the quitting corporate series.
77
and if you related and enjoyed it then I humbly ask
78
that you follow me on my journey and see how I progress so smash that like button and peace
79
Thank you.
