Hello, welcome back to English with Eleanor.
2
Today I am going to talk slowly and I'm going to talk about my favourite season.
3
So my favourite season is probably summer because I like warm weather,
4
I like sunshine, I like blue skies and I like long days.
5
So in Ireland, in summer,
6
our sun rises maybe at four in the morning and it sets in the evening at about 11.30.
7
So sunrise is when the sun comes up and sunset is when the sun goes down in the evening.
8
So our day is quite long and I really like that
9
because it gives you more motivation to do things later in the evening.
10
In winter in Ireland the day can be very short, very short.
11
So sunrise can be at 7.30 or 8 in the morning and sunset could be 3.30 or 4 in the afternoon.
12
So if you are at work,
13
almost all of your day is spent in the darkness
14
because you drive to work and it's dark
15
or it's just beginning to get bright
16
and then you are inside in your job all day
17
and then when you leave work again it has the sun has already set
18
so it's already dark outside when you leave work so for this reason I prefer summer.
19
To be fair summer in Ireland is not very predictable.
20
So we don't exactly know when summer in Ireland will come or for how long it is going to last.
21
We might have a couple of weeks of really nice weather with sun,
22
blue skies, nice temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees.
23
But we don't know when that will be because we can have rain and wind and 11 degrees in July and August,
24
basically the same as we might have in December.
25
So if I had to pick a month that I would recommend visiting Ireland,
26
it would probably be May because in May,
27
usually there is slightly better weather.
28
It's starting to get a little bit warmer,
29
maybe 15 degrees, up to 20 degrees and we have long days.
30
So the peak for our long days,
31
our longest day, is on the 21st of June.
32
So from April until then,
33
the days are getting gradually longer and we can enjoy these nice long evenings.
34
So we of course can't be sure of the weather
35
but this is my favourite month because of having a better chance of higher temperatures and longer days.
36
Tell me what is your favorite month and why?
