Hello everyone and welcome back to the Vibe English Learning Podcast.
0:02.80 – 0:07.26 (4.5s)
2
This podcast is here to help you feel more confident speaking English.
0:08.44 – 0:12.90 (4.5s)
3
Not just study it, but actually speak it.
0:12.90 – 0:16.54 (3.6s)
4
I'm Gary and my goal is to help you sound more natural every time you speak.
0:16.54 – 0:22.90 (6.4s)
5
We'll practice together, step by step, day by day.
0:23.88 – 0:27.82 (3.9s)
6
I speak slowly and clearly so you can listen easily and speak with me.
0:28.56 – 0:33.36 (4.8s)
7
Feel free to pause, repeat, or listen again.
0:34.24 – 0:37.86 (3.6s)
8
In today's episode, we're talking about something very simple but extremely effective.
0:38.64 – 0:44.14 (5.5s)
9
We'll talk about how to practice English every day, even when you're busy, even when you feel shy and even if you don't live in an English-speaking country.
0:44.80 – 0:54.94 (10.1s)
10
Many learners believe they must move abroad to speak well, but that idea is not true.
0:54.94 – 1:01.64 (6.7s)
11
You don't need to live in New York, have a native speaker beside you, or study for hours every night.
1:01.64 – 1:08.46 (6.8s)
12
What you really need are small, smart actions.
1:08.46 – 1:13.08 (4.6s)
13
Actions you can repeat every day.
1:13.08 – 1:15.76 (2.7s)
14
Actions that fit naturally into your life.
1:15.76 – 1:19.26 (3.5s)
15
These small steps help you feel more comfortable, more natural, and more confident speaking English.
1:20.02 – 1:26.68 (6.7s)
16
Alright, let's start with a fun question to warm up.
1:27.62 – 1:31.08 (3.5s)
17
Have you ever heard of shadowing?
1:31.08 – 1:33.64 (2.6s)
18
Maybe you've heard the word before, or maybe this is your first time.
1:33.64 – 1:38.82 (5.2s)
19
Either way, shadowing is one of the best ways to improve speaking and listening together.
1:38.82 – 1:45.00 (6.2s)
20
And the best part?
1:45.52 – 1:46.90 (1.4s)
21
It's very easy to do.
1:47.26 – 1:49.04 (1.8s)
22
Here's how it works.
1:49.60 – 1:50.92 (1.3s)
23
You listen to someone speaking English just like you're listening to me now.
1:51.20 – 1:56.06 (4.9s)
24
Then you repeat what you hear right away.
1:56.28 – 1:59.08 (2.8s)
25
You don't stop.
1:59.44 – 2:00.94 (1.5s)
26
You don't translate in your head.
2:00.94 – 2:03.56 (2.6s)
27
And you don't check a dictionary.
2:03.12 – 2:05.48 (2.4s)
28
You simply copy the sound, following the speaker closely like a shadow.
2:05.82 – 2:11.80 (6.0s)
29
You try to match the speed, the tone, and the rhythm.
2:12.06 – 2:15.64 (3.6s)
30
Let's try it together.
2:15.64 – 2:18.52 (2.9s)
31
I'll say a sentence.
2:18.52 – 2:20.50 (2.0s)
32
You repeat after me.
2:20.90 – 2:22.10 (1.2s)
33
I want to speak English well.
2:22.10 – 2:26.12 (4.0s)
34
Now you say it.
2:26.12 – 2:28.02 (1.9s)
35
I listen to English every day.
2:31.06 – 2:33.70 (2.6s)
36
Now you repeat.
2:33.70 – 2:35.98 (2.3s)
37
Shadowing helps me speak smoothly.
2:38.90 – 2:41.66 (2.8s)
38
Say it again.
2:41.66 – 2:43.24 (1.6s)
39
Great job.
2:46.70 – 2:47.58 (0.9s)
40
That's shadowing.
2:47.58 – 2:49.14 (1.6s)
41
At first it may feel strange.
2:49.14 – 2:51.30 (2.2s)
42
You might not understand everything you hear.
2:51.30 – 2:54.48 (3.2s)
43
And that's completely okay.
2:54.48 – 2:57.14 (2.7s)
44
Shadowing is not about understanding every word.
2:57.14 – 3:00.60 (3.5s)
45
It's about training your brain and your mouth to work together in English.
3:00.86 – 3:05.14 (4.3s)
46
It helps you get used to the sounds, the rhythm, and the feeling of speaking English.
3:06.08 – 3:11.36 (5.3s)
47
If you practice like this regularly, even just five minutes a day, you will notice a difference.
3:12.38 – 3:18.60 (6.2s)
48
You'll speak faster, more clearly, and more naturally.
3:18.60 – 3:23.40 (4.8s)
49
Now let's return to the big question.
3:24.68 – 3:26.66 (2.0s)
50
How do you practice English every day?
3:26.66 – 3:29.54 (2.9s)
51
Many learners tell me, Gary, I really want to improve, but I'm too busy.
3:30.14 – 3:34.74 (4.6s)
52
I get nervous when I speak.
3:35.62 – 3:37.38 (1.8s)
53
I don't know where to start.
3:37.38 – 3:39.44 (2.1s)
54
And my answer is always the same.
3:39.44 – 3:42.38 (2.9s)
55
You don't need more time.
3:42.94 – 3:44.56 (1.6s)
56
You don't need perfect grammar.
3:44.56 – 3:46.86 (2.3s)
57
And you don't need to wait for the perfect moment.
3:46.86 – 3:50.18 (3.3s)
58
You just need to start with small, simple actions.
3:50.18 – 3:54.82 (4.6s)
59
So today, I'm going to give you five easy powerful ways to practice English in your real life no matter where you live, no matter how busy you are.
3:54.82 – 4:06.42 (11.6s)
60
Let's start with tip number one and this one really matters.
4:07.41 – 4:11.25 (3.8s)
61
Listen to English every single day.
4:11.25 – 4:14.37 (3.1s)
62
If you want to improve your speaking, it's crucial to listen more every day.
4:14.37 – 4:19.93 (5.6s)
63
Not once a week, not only during English class.
4:19.93 – 4:23.93 (4.0s)
64
Every day makes a difference.
4:23.93 – 4:26.31 (2.4s)
65
Listening is one of the easiest ways to pick up new words.
4:26.31 – 4:30.05 (3.7s)
66
The more you listen, the faster your ears learn to understand.
4:30.05 – 4:34.09 (4.0s)
67
You stop translating word by word.
4:34.09 – 4:37.71 (3.6s)
68
You start understanding naturally.
4:37.71 – 4:40.49 (2.8s)
69
And you start getting used to how people actually talk in real life, not the slow, perfect English you see in textbooks.
4:40.49 – 4:49.27 (8.8s)
70
So how do you get more listening into your day?
4:49.27 – 4:52.31 (3.0s)
71
Honestly, you have many choices.
4:52.31 – 4:55.15 (2.8s)
72
You can start with podcasts like this one, or play some English songs you enjoy.
4:55.15 – 5:01.73 (6.6s)
73
You can watch YouTube videos or listen to short stories and simple English news made for learners.
5:01.73 – 5:09.15 (7.4s)
74
And here's the good news.
5:09.15 – 5:11.13 (2.0s)
75
You don't need to understand everything.
5:11.13 – 5:13.93 (2.8s)
76
Just let the sounds come in naturally.
5:13.93 – 5:16.49 (2.6s)
77
Even if you only catch part of it, it still helps a lot.
5:16.49 – 5:21.25 (4.8s)
78
You can listen while waiting for the bus, while taking a shower, while doing chores, or while working out.
5:21.25 – 5:29.17 (7.9s)
79
You can even listen while you're relaxing on the sofa.
5:29.51 – 5:32.91 (3.4s)
80
Just 10 to 15 minutes a day can make a real difference.
5:33.39 – 5:37.25 (3.9s)
81
Let English play quietly in the background of your day.
5:37.69 – 5:41.45 (3.8s)
82
Alright, let's move to tip number two.
5:42.25 – 5:44.81 (2.6s)
83
Shadow what you hear.
5:44.99 – 5:46.49 (1.5s)
84
Listening is important, but speaking is what helps you get stronger.
5:47.15 – 5:51.41 (4.3s)
85
It's a simple exercise.
5:51.59 – 5:53.77 (2.2s)
86
After you hear a short sentence, say it out loud.
5:54.31 – 5:57.11 (2.8s)
87
Do not think too much.
5:57.39 – 5:59.09 (1.7s)
88
Just repeat what you hear.
5:58.99 – 6:00.99 (2.0s)
89
Try to sound like the speaker.
6:01.83 – 6:03.95 (2.1s)
90
Follow the speed, follow the rhythm.
6:04.09 – 6:06.81 (2.7s)
91
That's called shadowing.
6:07.09 – 6:08.99 (1.9s)
92
Let's practice with a few examples.
6:09.61 – 6:12.31 (2.7s)
93
I practice English every day.
6:12.81 – 6:15.39 (2.6s)
94
Say it again.
6:15.81 – 6:17.23 (1.4s)
95
I will keep going no matter what.
6:19.57 – 6:22.61 (3.0s)
96
Now you repeat.
6:23.15 – 6:24.23 (1.1s)
97
I am getting better step by step.
6:27.41 – 6:30.47 (3.1s)
98
Say it one more time.
6:31.05 – 6:32.75 (1.7s)
99
If you do this every day, even with the same sentences, you will feel a change.
6:35.55 – 6:41.05 (5.5s)
100
Your words will come out more easily.
6:41.45 – 6:43.97 (2.5s)
101
Your pronunciation will sound clearer.
6:44.39 – 6:46.99 (2.6s)
102
And you will feel more confident speaking.
6:47.31 – 6:50.39 (3.1s)
103
Do not worry about mistakes.
6:51.17 – 6:52.91 (1.7s)
104
You do not need to be perfect.
6:53.23 – 6:55.37 (2.1s)
105
You just need to practice.
6:55.49 – 6:57.77 (2.3s)
106
Tip number three, try to think in English.
6:58.95 – 7:02.09 (3.1s)
107
Thinking in English is one of the biggest steps towards speaking more naturally.
7:03.25 – 7:07.89 (4.6s)
108
Start training your mind to use English inside your head.
7:08.51 – 7:12.25 (3.7s)
109
At first it may feel difficult.
7:12.85 – 7:15.29 (2.4s)
110
Your brain might try to translate everything from your first language.
7:15.73 – 7:20.29 (4.6s)
111
But translation takes time and it slows you down when you try to speak.
7:20.85 – 7:25.37 (4.5s)
112
So start with very small thoughts.
7:26.03 – 7:28.53 (2.5s)
113
Short, simple sentences in your mind.
7:28.15 – 7:31.21 (3.1s)
114
When you wake up, you can think, Good morning.
7:31.85 – 7:35.35 (3.5s)
115
I'm awake.
7:35.71 – 7:36.83 (1.1s)
116
It's a new day.
7:37.45 – 7:38.79 (1.3s)
117
When you step outside, you can think, The weather is nice.
7:39.37 – 7:43.99 (4.6s)
118
I feel good.
7:43.79 – 7:45.49 (1.7s)
119
It's a good day.
7:45.71 – 7:47.15 (1.4s)
120
At lunch time, try something like, I am hungry.
7:48.57 – 7:52.49 (3.9s)
121
What should I eat?
7:52.71 – 7:53.99 (1.3s)
122
This looks good.
7:54.03 – 7:55.61 (1.6s)
123
These tiny thoughts help your brain connect directly to English.
7:56.71 – 8:00.83 (4.1s)
124
No translation, no delay, just simple English in your mind.
8:01.33 – 8:06.33 (5.0s)
125
Later, when you feel comfortable, try to say these thoughts out loud.
8:07.31 – 8:11.73 (4.4s)
126
You can speak softly or even whisper.
8:12.05 – 8:15.64 (3.6s)
127
It's like having a small daily conversation with yourself in English.
8:16.22 – 8:20.76 (4.5s)
128
Tip number four, read out loud.
8:21.90 – 8:24.56 (2.7s)
129
It's great training for your speaking muscles.
8:25.10 – 8:28.06 (3.0s)
130
Reading in your head is good, but reading out loud is even better.
8:28.68 – 8:32.78 (4.1s)
131
Your mouth, your tongue, and your brain start working as a team.
8:33.20 – 8:37.80 (4.6s)
132
This helps your English feel more natural.
8:38.46 – 8:40.92 (2.5s)
133
And it helps your mouth move more easily.
8:41.66 – 8:44.86 (3.2s)
134
Pick something short and easy, maybe a kid's book, a beginner story, or a short dialogue from a video or podcast.
8:45.48 – 8:54.04 (8.6s)
135
First, read it slowly.
8:54.84 – 8:57.04 (2.2s)
136
Make sure every word is clear.
8:57.56 – 8:59.82 (2.3s)
137
Take your time, don't rush.
9:00.16 – 9:02.58 (2.4s)
138
Then read it again, a little faster this time, and read it once more with feeling.
9:03.38 – 9:10.16 (6.8s)
139
Pretend you are acting.
9:10.70 – 9:12.38 (1.7s)
140
Change your voice.
9:12.70 – 9:14.18 (1.5s)
141
Add emotion.
9:14.50 – 9:15.86 (1.4s)
142
Have fun with it.
9:16.02 – 9:17.52 (1.5s)
143
This practice helps your pronunciation.
9:17.92 – 9:20.72 (2.8s)
144
It also builds fluency because your mouth gets used to English sounds.
9:21.10 – 9:25.88 (4.8s)
145
It's like doing a workout, but for your speaking muscles.
9:26.32 – 9:30.32 (4.0s)
146
The more you practice, the more confident you'll feel.
9:31.08 – 9:34.32 (3.2s)
147
Alright here we go with tip number 5.
9:35.42 – 9:37.98 (2.6s)
148
Make English part of your real life.
9:37.96 – 9:40.70 (2.7s)
149
Here's the key.
9:41.60 – 9:42.70 (1.1s)
150
Don't just study English.
9:42.36 – 9:44.66 (2.3s)
151
You need to live with it.
9:44.24 – 9:46.30 (2.1s)
152
If you want to speak well, English can't be something you use only once in a while.
9:46.64 – 9:52.52 (5.9s)
153
It needs to be around you, not just in a book or a class.
9:52.80 – 9:56.94 (4.1s)
154
Think of it like your morning routine or the apps you open every day.
9:57.94 – 10:01.86 (3.9s)
155
The more English you see, hear, and use, the more natural it feels.
10:02.44 – 10:07.56 (5.1s)
156
Let me share a few simple ways to do this, even if your schedule is full.
10:08.48 – 10:13.68 (5.2s)
157
First, switch your phone to English.
10:14.70 – 10:17.14 (2.4s)
158
You check your phone all the time, maybe dozens of times a day.
10:17.54 – 10:22.20 (4.7s)
159
So let those moments become tiny learning moments.
10:22.52 – 10:26.62 (4.1s)
160
When your phone is in English, you see useful words again and again.
10:27.40 – 10:31.96 (4.6s)
161
Words like camera, messages, volume, alarm, and contacts.
10:32.78 – 10:39.00 (6.2s)
162
You don't need to study them.
10:39.42 – 10:41.42 (2.0s)
163
Your brain learns them naturally.
10:41.30 – 10:43.78 (2.5s)
164
It's called passive learning and it's very helpful.
10:44.28 – 10:48.32 (4.0s)
165
Second, keep a short English journal every day.
10:49.04 – 10:52.38 (3.3s)
166
You don't need to write a long story or anything complicated.
10:52.50 – 10:56.40 (3.9s)
167
write a few simple sentences about your day.
10:57.14 – 10:59.86 (2.7s)
168
For example, you can write, I woke up early today.
10:59.86 – 11:04.38 (4.5s)
169
I went out in the afternoon.
11:05.38 – 11:07.50 (2.1s)
170
I bought a sandwich.
11:07.50 – 11:09.90 (2.4s)
171
Or maybe the weather was hot.
11:09.90 – 11:13.02 (3.1s)
172
I met a friend.
11:13.60 – 11:15.00 (1.4s)
173
I watched a short video.
11:15.00 – 11:17.52 (2.5s)
174
These simple sentences are great practice.
11:17.52 – 11:20.98 (3.5s)
175
They help you get used to basic sentence patterns.
11:21.52 – 11:24.50 (3.0s)
176
They also help you use words from your real life.
11:24.82 – 11:28.20 (3.4s)
177
If you do this every night for just 5 minutes, you will slowly see real progress.
11:28.64 – 11:35.08 (6.4s)
178
You don't need anything special.
11:35.50 – 11:37.38 (1.9s)
179
You can write in a small notebook or type it on your phone.
11:37.32 – 11:41.34 (4.0s)
180
You can even message a friend who is learning English too.
11:41.62 – 11:45.58 (4.0s)
181
Write a few lines and let them reply.
11:45.76 – 11:48.46 (2.7s)
182
Turns writing into real communication and that makes learning English much more natural.
11:49.60 – 11:55.68 (6.1s)
183
Third, record a one-minute voice message every day.
11:56.92 – 12:01.16 (4.2s)
184
At the end of the day, open your phone and talk.
12:01.88 – 12:05.44 (3.6s)

- Wait Mode(待機モード):
+3sまたは+5sを選ぶと、動画が一文を読み終えた後に自動で一時停止し、繰り返す時間が生まれます。完全に手動でコントロールしたい場合はManualを選んでNextを自分で押しましょう。 - Sub Sync(字幕同期): YouTubeの字幕と音声がずれることがあります。
±100msで調整して、正確なタイミングで追えるようにしてください。
- Wait Mode(待機モード):
Off
にして連続シャドーイングするのが最も上級で効果的なモードです。毎日15〜30分継続すれば、数週間で目に見える変化を実感できます。
