Reverse glass paintings were once common in South and Vietnamese homes, used for worship, decoration and symbols of good fortune.

Now through the exhibition Nam Sư Hoa Kiang or Southend History Reverse Glass Painting, that tradition is being brought back into the spotlight,

At first glance, southern glass paintings stand out for their deep, vivid colors, bold outlines and decorative details.

But what makes this art form even more distinctive is the way it is made.

The artist works from the back of the glass, the finest lines and facial details are painted first, while larger color blocks and the background come later.

At Nam Sư Hoa Kiếng, that technique becomes the starting point for a larger journey,

The Nam Sư Hoa Kiếng exhibition is divided into three sections, the past, the present, and the future.

The past section features some of the oldest glass paintings, while the present allies restored imperial class paintings from hui the future section focuses on applied art

and contemporary interpretations of the craft now here in this exhibition
