1
Music Hi,
2
it's Robin Sharma and I hope you are doing really well.
3
I'm here in Malibu.
4
I'm working on my new book.
5
I'm in my writing cottage, but I wanted to take a break and I wanted to shoot this very raw and real video.
6
I've got a little bit of stubble because I've been in high creative mode.
7
The sea is fueling my energy.
8
You'll hear the waves in the background.
9
And I've come here to get away from the world in many ways, so I can download the ideas and the concepts
10
I'm a writing that hopefully will serve you in my next book that is going to be out over the next, probably in the next 24 months.
11
But I wanted to focus in this video
12
so I bring some real value to you about a theme
13
that has been
14
so central to my work over the past few years as I mentor a lot of the successful industry titans
15
and professional athletes and people who are doing creative things at the highest level in the world and that's morning routine.
16
I really believe the way you start your day sets up the way you live your day.
17
I really believe that the way you win is how you begin.
18
I really believe that if you can get that first hour right, I call it the victory hour in my book,
19
The 5am Club, if you can calibrate that first hour to optimize what I call your four interior empires of mindset, heart set, health set, and soul set,
20
then you're going to walk out into the world at six o'clock where you're feeling
21
so much more focus in this age of dramatic distraction.
22
You're feeling so much more creativity
23
and you are in many ways built as a human being to express your primal genius and your creativity.
24
If you get that first hour right, what you're also going to find is you're going to shift from fake work to real work.
25
There are a lot of people who are busy being busy, but what's the point of being busy about the wrong thing?
26
So I know you know this, but just to really bring into sharper focus to you.
27
There's a big difference between productivity and busy,
28
and may we never spend our best hours just sort of being busy around trivialities.
29
You get that first hour right, you're also going to feel a lot happier through the day, which is incredibly important, because when you are happy and you protect your hope and inspiration,
30
then you produce amazing things, and you lift all the people around you up, Not only people at work, but people out on the street and people within your home.
31
What else?
32
You get that first hour right.
33
You run the 20-20-20 formula that I talk about in the book.
34
You are going to feel so much more peaceful.
35
There's a new term I've been playing with.
36
It's called JPF, joy, peace, and freedom.
37
You know, the people who say I want a jet, the people who say I want a mansion, the people who say I want a Ferrari, the people who say I want better watches, people who say I want more Facebook likes.
38
You know, really, I don't think they want those things.
39
I think often we don't want what we think we want.
40
The ego is a great seducer, isn't it?
41
Insecurity is a great hypnotizer, isn't it?
42
And so I think in many ways we want JPF.
43
We want joy, peace, and freedom.
44
We want to wake up in the morning feeling this wonderful joy.
45
We want to have this peace within our hearts and we want to have this freedom within our lives.
46
So that first hour, the victory hour, is mission critical to you living your greatest life.
47
And I want you to really think about that.
48
So what do you do when you first wake up?
49
Well, I think it's really important to get some sweaty exercising.
50
In the 5am club, I talked about the 20-20-20 formula.
51
And if you're interested in it, I'd love for you to learn it because it is currently helping millions of people around the world upgrade their creativity,
52
their productivity, their focus, their prosperity, their lifestyle, and their impact on the people around them.
53
And so this 2020 formula is really a very simple,
54
clear, calibrated morning routine to dramatically create some positive shifts in your life.
55
I don't know where you're at in your life right now.
56
If you're struggling, if you want to be happier, if you want real productivity, if you really want to find a lifestyle you love,
57
if you want to wake up with this fire in your belly, then definitely run the 20-20-20 formula.
58
And in the book, I talk about the 66-day minimum.
59
It's based on the research of University College London that has found
60
if you practice any new skill for 66 days in a row through the power of neuroplasticity,
61
which is the brain's ability to adapt, then you are going to reach a point called automaticity.
62
I want you to think about that term, automaticity.
63
In other words, after 66 days of practicing the 20-20-20 formula and joining the 5 a.m club and running the morning routine,
64
you're going to get to a point where it's automatic.
65
You're going to get to a point where it's actually easier to get up at 5 a.m than to stay in bed.
66
I also want to offer you a brain tattoo from the
67
book to consider as you wire in this morning protocol of billionaires and highly creative people, professional athletes, and industry titans.
68
And it's this.
69
All change is hard at first, and it's messy in the middle, and it's beautiful at the end.
70
I'm going to repeat that again for you because it's so important.
71
All change is hard at first.
72
If a new skill or a new routine or a new habit was easy, then it wouldn't be valuable change.
73
So anything that's valuable is hard at first.
74
You know, society says live an easy life.
75
I suggest to you that whether it's a great morning routine, whether it's building a great business, whether it's releasing your masterwork to the world, maybe it's a great relationship,
76
maybe it's a great interior life.
77
It takes real effort.
78
It takes the long game.
79
It takes focus.
80
It takes hard work.
81
It takes bravery.
82
But the rewards are so much more glorious than living an easy life, okay?
83
And also remember the things you once found difficult, you now find easy.
84
Little kids, for example, find walking early on difficult
85
or learning a new nursery rhyme or learning how to read or learning how to build relationships.
86
At first, there's not a lot of facility and fluency with those skills
87
because every skill is difficult at first until you practice it
88
and then train until you get to a place where you master it.
89
And so your morning routine is going to be challenging at first, but with daily training and practicing the 20-20-20 formula,
90
I promise you, you're going to get to a point of mastery.
91
And then the payoffs are extraordinary.
92
Your creativity will soar.
93
Your productivity will maximize.
94
You will actually attract more prosperity into your life because the marketplace rewards true creativity and productivity.
95
You're going to feel so much more happier in your day.
96
You're going to find that sense of peacefulness.
97
So it's almost like you go through a life with a greater level of grace and ease.
98
The way you start your day determines the way your day is going to unfold.
99
To bring even more value to you in this masterclass on morning routine, I also wanted to walk you through at a very high level the 20-20-20 formula
100
that is revolutionizing so many people's days and productivity.
101
If you're very interested in going very deep into it so you understand it at a much higher level, definitely read the 5AM Club book.
102
It's currently one of the best-selling books on the planet right now.
103
It's shattering publishing records because it works.
104
I spent four years on the book.
105
I handcrafted every single line.
106
There are many of the best learning frameworks
107
that I've taught only to the billionaires I've mentored for over two decades
108
and I've shared those systems and those standard operating procedures
109
and those insights and principles as well as specific tactics to upgrade your creativity, productivity, prosperity, and impact in the 5am club book.
110
So if that feels right to you, I'd love to help you read the book.
111
But for now, the 2020 formula very simply is this, 5 to 520 is all about move.
112
Because when you move in the morning and you sweat, you'll release BDNF, brain-derived neurotrophic factor
113
which will optimize your cognition it will make you think more
114
effectively as you go through your day did you know BDNF actually helps you promote neurogenesis
115
which is actually the creation of new brain cells BDNF through sweaty exercise will also help you repair brain cells
116
that have been damaged through stress powerful because the quality of your brain sets up the quality of your performance.
117
Sweaty exercise in that first 20 minute pocket of move of the 20-20-20 formula will also release dopamine
118
which is the inspirational neurotransmitter which gives you fire in the belly as you go through your day.
119
University of Toronto did some research and found that the effects of a morning exercise actually last 19 hours after your workout.
120
Cortisol, While the fear hormone is high in the morning, exercise will reduce it.
121
Exercise in the morning will release serotonin, which is the pleasure neurochemical, which makes you feel happy through the day.
122
Now it's 5.20.
123
You're feeling fundamentally different.
124
Second part of the 20-20-20 formula, 20 minutes from 5.20 to 5.40 is all about reflection.
125
That's where you actually contemplate
126
or you can write in a journal about the intentions for your day
127
or the values you want to stand for or the high value targets that are gonna be important for you.
128
You might also meditate like I do every morning.
129
You might also pray like I often do most mornings.
130
You might simply watch the sun come up so you remember
131
that sense of serenity that occurs at the beginning of the day.
132
In the 5 a.m club, I say tranquility is the new luxury.
133
So giving yourself that time from 5.20 to 5.40 where you give some time for yourself is really powerful.
134
You know, I mean, a lot of us don't have me time anymore.
135
We're, you know, and we suffer from martyr complex.
136
We're trying to be all things to all people, but how can you be your best for even your family if your well is completely empty?
137
And then the final part of the 2020 formula is all about grow.
138
When I coach the superstars, I notice they all have a trade in common.
139
They have massive levels of what I call curiosity IQ.
140
They understand that the person who learns the most produces at best.
141
Okay, so greatness belongs to the learners and fortune favors the curious.
142
So from 540 to six o'clock, the final pocket for 2020 formula, it's when you read an autobiography or you read a book on productivity
143
or you look at your game charts on your targets or you listen to a podcast or you watch a video course,
144
but you give yourself that learning because as you know more, you can do better.
145
In many ways, the people who create empires, the people who change history are people who are incredible students, you know?
146
You never want to lose a white belt mentality because nothing fails like success.
147
I see it with so many companies I work with, members of the Fortune 100.
148
I see it with professional athletes.
149
You know, they have a championship season and they start resting on their laurels and they, you know, stop learning.
150
They stop mentoring.
151
They stop pushing themselves to the limit.
152
But one thing the A players and virtuosos all have in common, they understand that last year's championship season is this year's starting point.
153
You know, there was a type of slave in Rome called the origa.
154
And the Origa had one mission, to stand behind the Dux, which is the military commander, and whisper into his ear,
155
momento homo, memento homo, memento homo.
156
What does that mean?
157
Well, it's Latin for remember you're only a man.
158
And so let us not forget the power of humility and learning and staying hungry, foolish, and curious.
159
So the final part of the 2020 formula is all about learning and growing.
160
Now it's six o'clock.
161
You've optimized your mindset.
162
You've purified your heart set.
163
You have elevated your health set, and you've escalated your soul set.
164
In the 5M Club book, I call them the four interior empires.
165
You absolutely want to understand that concept because a lot of people suggest that mindset is everything.
166
If you only got your thinking right, your life would be great.
167
Change your thinking.
168
Change your world.
169
We've heard those kinds of messages.
170
The 5AM Club book is a very disruptive book because it has so many fresh ideas.
171
And one of the fresh ideas is that I believe mindset is only 25% of the personal mastery equation.
172
Because your mindset is simply your psychology.
173
And often we get ideas at our intellectual level.
174
But you know when you get real transformation?
175
When you get them in your heart at an emotional level.
176
And so when you learn from the book what mindset is all about, and then heart set, and then health set, which is about your vitality and your physical life,
177
because energy is more valuable in this world and in business and in the arts.
178
Energy is more valuable than even your intellect.
179
So you want to optimize your health set, this new term I introduced in the 5M Club book.
180
So you have more energy, and so you have more vitality, and so you hack aging, and so you extend longevity.
181
And then the fourth interior empire is soul set, which is a relationship with your wisest self and your bravest self.
182
You know, often what we do is we listen to the voice of our ego as we go through our day, but our ego is simply the voice of our fear.
183
And so I teach you in the book how to optimize your soul set.
184
So you turn down the loud chattering of your ego and you increase the powerful whispers of your bravest self.
185
And then when you increase that relationship with who you truly are,
186
that person beneath the layers of insecurity and fear and pain and resentment and hurt, you then increase every other relationship in your life.
187
whether it's your relationship with your family, your relationship with money, your relationship with creativity, your relationship with your team, your relationship with your marketplace, your relationship with the world.
188
It all comes from working on your heart set so you upgrade your relationship with your truest, most authentic and powerful self.
189
So I hope this video shot from my writing cottage on a beach in Malibu has been helpful to you.
190
If you want to go much deeper, definitely go ahead and read The 5AM Club.
191
It's a master class and a manifesto for outright mastery.
192
And you know what I think?
193
I think the world wants you to live a beautiful life.
194
And I think the world will be less a place
195
if your magic and your creativity and your greatest self isn't expressed within it.
196
I think the world right now is getting into a very volatile time.
197
And we need more heroes.
198
And why wait for them to show up when you have it in you to become one of them?
199
So if you're interested in expressing your primal genius, learning this morning routine at a much deeper level that I've taught to the billionaires and the superstars.
200
If you want to learn the other daily rituals to upgrade your creativity, prosperity, productivity, and impact on society,
201
then definitely go ahead and read the 5am club.
202
And I want to thank you for your time and I want to wish you all green lights.
203
Thank you.
