Hi, I'm Liz from Laser Hair Removal and Skin Clinic, and today I'm here with Jenna, and we are going to go over laser hair removal consultation.
2
So what brought you in today, Jenna?
3
Well, I've always had a problem area in my underarms in
4
that no matter what kind of razor I use or how often I shave, I feel like it's they can always kind of see a shadow and definitely, you know, if I shave in the morning,
5
by the afternoon, I would need to shave again and also just some razor burn, stubble and so it's just an issue I'm tired of dealing with
6
and I'm ready to find out what I need to do
7
and if I'm a candidate for laser so I don't have to shave it.
8
Well, you're definitely a candidate.
9
I mean, you have dark hair, you have light skin.
10
So you're the perfect candidate for laser.
11
It will take several treatments to get rid of the hair permanently.
12
Laser will only see dark hair so you will only be able to get rid of dark hair with laser.
13
It doesn't see red, blonde, or gray hair.
14
So if you have any of those colors we can do electrolysis with
15
the lighter colored hair but I have a feeling is all dark right now.
16
- Yeah, it's all dark.
17
- Yeah, so it's perfect.
18
Perfect time to come in.
19
before anything starts turning gray and you're way too young for that but we have a lot of people that
20
They may come in a little bit later on in life and they've got maybe two different color hairs going on.
21
So anyway, let me explain how this works.
22
It's a really simple process.
23
Um, What happens is that the laser is attracted to dark.
24
So it's attracted to the melanin in your skin and the dark root of the hair.
25
So what we're going to do is we're going to run the laser beam over the top of your skin
26
and it's going to heat up this hair follicle.
27
And what happens when you heat up the hair follicle, it actually will make the hair fall out.
28
so we're actually shrinking the follicle down
29
and we're actually creating the hair to fall out
30
so the appointments are somewhere about six weeks apart as you go on the treatments may be pushed out further
31
because the hair comes in slower and slower and finer
32
and finer with every treatment so some people take six treatments some people may only take five so
33
We won't know until we start working on you.
34
Anyway, I'm going to draw you a really simple elementary kind of picture here, but it'll help you understand this a little bit more.
35
So let's say this is the hair under your underarms, okay? well underneath your skin you actually have all these other little hairs.
36
So hair falls out, there's another one to replace it.
37
Well, if this is the laser beam and I'm running it over your skin, it's treating the hair on the surface, but it's also treating the hair underneath the skin too.
38
So what happens is these little hairs are going to start working their way out.
39
So when you're in the shower, what I want you to do is I want you to just take a washcloth
40
or a light loof or whatever and just gently go in circular motions under your arms.
41
What that's going to do is it's going to help those hairs exfoliate.
42
so it's going to keep you from getting ingrown bumps.
43
So sometimes the hair is having a hard time pushing its way through.
44
So to avoid any kind of bump
45
just exfoliate and those hairs are going to slide out
46
so it'll take about a week or so before the hair really loosens up It falls out.
47
and then you'll have a couple weeks of like no hair.
48
And then when you're ready to come back in for your second treatment, you're going to start seeing a little bit of hair creeping back in so you know, okay, we're ready for that next treatment.
49
and then the same thing all over again.
50
The hair's going to fall out and You'll have less and less every time you come in.
51
So as soon as I start saying a few hairs, come back in.
52
Yeah.
53
We'll make your appointments for you.
54
Yep.
55
And, um, because we pretty much know we've been doing this for so long that about every six weeks is
56
really a good time frame to come back in.
57
And then, like I said, towards the end of your maybe about that fourth or fifth treatment, we may say, "You know what?
58
If you don't see any hair, call us up and say hey I don't see anything here
59
so push it out a week and then you know so It just depends on you.
60
Everybody's different.
61
Everybody's situation's different.
62
So Someone may take six times, someone may take eight, someone may take four.
63
Um, But anyway, so that's how that works.
64
The biggest thing is when you're doing lasers is that you can have a tan in the area
65
You have to avoid the sun.
66
If you have a recent sun exposure in the area that we're going to laser, it can cause a problem we can cause hyper hypopigmentation
67
or you can burn someone so you have to avoid the area that that's being lasered from the sun.
68
And then the other thing is photosensitive medication.
69
So, If you're, I don't know, you get sick, you get put on an antibiotic, Please call us up ahead of time and say, hey, this is what I'm taking.
70
I have an appointment this week.
71
We'll check it if it's a medicine that's not photosensitive.
72
Come on in, we can still work on you.
73
If it is, tell you finish taking it and we'll see you a week later.
74
Okay so it's pretty simple.
75
The biggest thing is like I said is the sun and medications.
76
Other than that, AND I THINK THAT'S A LITTLE BIT OF THEM.
77
you should not tweeze or wax in an area that you're going to have lasered.
78
Because if you're pulling that hair out, the hair is not present to be able to treat
79
so we're missing the opportunity to treat that hair so what that does is prolongs your treatment because
80
we're never catching the hair because you're you're pulling it out so Don't pull any hair out, don't wax.
81
Are you just shaving right now?
82
Yeah, just shaving.
83
Okay, that's perfect.
84
That's what I want you to do.
85
Just continue to shave through your treatments and then Pretty soon you're really gonna even quit shaving, you know, under there.
86
Any other questions, concerns?
87
My only question is Is there pain involved?
88
It's actually probably the first question people ask, but the laser is really a simple process.
89
It's, um, and we actually have, um, a really, uh, a new laser.
90
We've only had it about a year now, and, um, everybody's loving it compared to our old laser.
91
So it's, um, barely, um, like a little bit of a a pinch like a heated pinch and that's about it.
92
The treatments are really quick to do your underarm.
93
You're out of here in five minutes.
94
Oh, that quick?
95
Okay, great.
96
So it doesn't take long at all.
97
I'm not going to say pain free but I mean it's not going to hurt that much.
98
And so once I get my underarms done, is it a big deal to move into the leg area?
99
I know I kind of have a similar problem with my lower legs.
100
and just that even if I shave in the morning, you have a biblia clap shadow on your legs too.
101
You know, this is the funny thing is when
102
women come in for one area
103
and they see how well it works they usually end up moving on to another area
104
and they end up doing their whole body sooner or later so But yes, you can do your legs, you can do your bikini line, you can do any body part with the legs or as long as it's dark hair.
105
- So if it's gonna take, say it takes six treatments for my arms, is it?
106
safe to bed it's gonna take about the same for my legs?
107
Or is it completely dependent in the area?
108
- It depends on the area.
109
Facial hair is actually a lot of times
110
a hormonal issue for women so
111
that could typically take a little bit longer than um just um underarm hair bikini line leg hair
112
lower leg hair it's amazing and within two treatments people are like wow do i have any hair left So,
113
the first two treatments you're just amazed at like you barely feel any hair at all.
114
Especially if you have real stubbly Like I used to have, um, I would shave my legs in the morning and by 4 or 5 in the afternoon, you would feel prickly.
115
My first laser treatment, I was shocked at how soft my legs were.
116
It just never really came in.
117
you know, did for hard and it came in really slow.
118
So I loved it for my legs.
119
So-- you'll probably be the same way.
120
Yay!
121
So anyway, so the biggest thing is the sun.
122
This is, we'll give you all the instructions of before and after care.
123
Just have everything shaped before you come in and sunblock if you're gonna be in the sun, Usually your arms are down so you don't have to worry about that.
124
I think we're ready to do your first treatment.
125
We're going to do it today?
126
Yep, we can do it today.
127
Awesome.
128
Let's get started.
129
Okay do that.

  • 「I've always had a problem area in...」(...
  • 「no matter what kind of... I use」(どんな...
  • 「I'm ready to find out...」(...
  • 「It will take several treatments to...」(...
  • 「What happens is that...」(実際に起こるのは...
