Because inside every child is a story waiting to be told.
3
Our storyteller is ABC 11 meteorologist Don Schweniker.
4
Welcome to Mickey and Friends Mickey's Slumber Party.
5
"Pluto, I have a wonderful idea," Mickey Mouse said one rainy afternoon.
6
"Let's invite our friends over for a slumber party tonight." Pluto barked happily.
7
They'd been stuck inside all day and he was ready for some excitement.
8
While Mickey called his friends, Pluto dragged sleeping bags and pillows into the living room and soon he and Mickey were ready for their party.
9
Daisy, Minnie, Donald arrived just as the rain began to come down harder.
10
"I brought hot cocoa," Minnie said, pulling out a thermos and mini marshmallows.
11
"Just the thing on a rainy day," Mickey said, guiding his friends to the warm fireplace.
12
and then he poured a mug for each of them.
13
Daisy looked around.
14
"Where's Goofy?" she asked.
15
Mickey frowned.
16
He couldn't make it he said.
17
Outside the wind was blowing hard enough to make the trees sway.
18
Storm clouds covered the moon, bolts of lightning zapped through the darkness, illuminating the raindrops that were splashing down.
19
"You know what this is perfect weather for?" Mickey asked.
20
"Scary stories, and I know just the one to tell." and the friends got comfortable.
21
Mickey turned off the lights.
22
and he began his story.
23
you Not long ago, in a village not far from here, there lived a young man who wanted to be a magician.
24
The villagers laughed and told them that magic wasn't real, but he worked hard and he finally was able to make things disappear.
25
The villagers still did not believe his magic and when he made things vanish in front of him, they accused him of tricking them.
26
The magician was angry so that no one believed him and he began to make the villagers disappear one by one.
27
Soon, everyone in the village had disappeared, but the magician had grown to enjoy making people vanish.
28
So now he wanders the land looking for more victims.
29
he points his long arms at anyone And he says...
30
BOOM!
31
A huge crash of thunder shook Mickey's house and the front door flew open.
32
A great gust of wind blew out the fire and everyone screamed.
33
"It's okay," Mickey reassured them as he got up close to the door.
34
"It's just the wind." He tried to flick on a light, but Nothing happened.
35
The storm must have knocked out the power.
36
I'll go find some flashlights.
37
Minnie giggled.
38
I was so caught up in Mickey's story.
39
I thought it was the magician.
40
coming through that door.
41
Soon Mickey came back with a candle.
42
"This is the only thing I could find," he said.
43
I don't know where all the flashlights could be.
44
Mickey, where's Pluto?
45
Daisy asked as the candle lit up their circle.
46
The four friends looked around but Pluto was gone.
47
Pluto, they called.
48
There was no answer.
49
Friends got up and began to look around.
50
Donald even opened the front door and shouted into the ring, "Pluto !" maybe it really was the magician who caused the lights to go out, he said.
51
burden.
52
Maybe he made Pluto vanish.
53
"Don't be silly !" said Minnie, looking around nervously.
54
"That was just a story Mickey made up to scare us.
55
Right, Mickey?" Just then, the door to the basement - Mickey,
56
Donald, Daisy, and Minnie jumped and turned in time to see a floating white shape entering the room.
57
"It's a ghost !" Donald cried.
58
"He's gonna get us !" Daisy gasped, hugging on to Minnie.
59
The white sheet slipped away to reveal a familiar face.
60
"It's only Pluto !" Nicky said happily, going to get his friend.
61
Pluto had gone to the basement to find flashlights and his mouth was All of them.
62
Daisy hugged Pluto as he and Mickey passed out the flashlights.
63
I'm so glad you're safe, she said.
64
We've been scaring ourselves with silly things while you were gone.
65
We thought the evil magician made you disappear.
66
"I think I've had enough scary stories for one night," Mickey said.
67
"What should we do now?" "I know," Minnie said.
68
"Since we all have flashlights, why don't we make shadow puppets?" "That sounds like fun," Donald said.
69
"How do you make 'em?" "I'll show you," Minnie replied.
70
and Minnie helped Donald move his hands into a particular shape.
71
Then Mickey held up the flashlight behind them and the shadow turtle appeared on the wall.
72
"Wow !" Donald exclaimed and he moved his fingers and the turtle's head bobbed up and down.
73
"Daisy, hold your hands up like this," Minnie said.
74
When Pluto raised the flashlight behind them, a rabbit appeared next to the turtle.
75
Daisy wiggled her fingers and the rabbit's ears moved.
76
"Now we can act out the story of the tortoise and the hare !" Minnie said with a smile.
77
As many began to tell the story, Donald and Daisy moved their shadow puppets on the wall, and just then a bright flash of lightning lit up the whole living room.
78
replacing the shadow puppets with the shadow of the huge.
79
long -armed, figure standing in the front door.
80
"It's the evil magician !" Donald shouted.
81
Mickey and Pluto swung their flashlights around to see the frightening figure.
82
"Gorsh !" Goofy said as he stepped through the front door.
83
dropping off his wet poncho, I didn't mean to scare you.
84
But it turns out I can join you for the slumber party after all.
85
Say!
86
Who turned off the lights?
87
"Mickey told us a story about an evil magician who makes people disappear," Minnie said.
88
"We thought you were him." "Well, that sounds scary," Goofy said.
89
"I know another scary story if you want to hear it." "No !" all the friends shouted.
90
Goofy held up his guitar.
91
"How about a few songs instead?" he said.
92
Minnie nodded.
93
"I think a sing -along is much safer than telling stories," she said.
94
Mickey lit the fire again, and as the wind and thunder calmed down outside, The friends all sang together.
95
Soon, everyone was yawning.
96
The friends snuggled up in their sleeping bags, "Good night, everyone," Mickey said.
97
And with the sound of soft rain falling, they all fell asleep.
98
Thank you.

  • 「I was so caught up in Mickey's story.」:「catch up in」は「~に夢中になる」という意味で、日常会話でよく使われます。「so~that」の構文と組み合わせることで、感情の強さを表現しています。
  • 「The storm must have knocked out the power.」:「must have + 過去分詞」は「~に違いない」という推測を表し、自然な推論の表現です。「knock out the power」は「停電する」という口語的な表現で、覚えておくと便利です。
  • 「I don't know where all the flashlights could be.」:「could be」は可能性を柔らかく表し、「where」以下の名詞節と組み合わせることで、自然な疑問の表現になります。
