1
Assalamu alaikum everyone, welcome back to my channel.
2
I hope you are all doing well inshallah.
3
Today's video is going to be about my self-care routine as a muslimah and a naqabi.
4
I feel like when people look at naqabis, they assume that like we don't do anything under the naqab and we don't have like a skincare routine or anything,
5
but that is so wrong.
6
This is covering the evidence.
7
There can be so much going on underneath our naqabs that I also feel like it's not talked about enough.
8
Unless you do have a really good skincare routine and you are taking care of your skin,
9
obviously, like, you know, you're gonna have that glowing, stunning skin.
10
I've never seen anyone do, like, a naqabi self-care video.
11
I just feel like this topic is not talked about enough
12
and I really want to have a chance to talk to you guys about it.
13
I have learned a thing or two from my own experience as being a naqabi for one year now.
14
I put on the naqab last February?
15
February 24th, 2025.
16
It was the first day of the second semester for my sophomore year in high school.
17
And I remember I put it on that day.
18
Oh my god, it was- I was so happy.
19
My teachers didn't recognize me and nobody did until I went up to them.
20
I just loved that day.
21
I remember that day, I felt so good.
22
You guys should take this as your sign to put on the naqab if you already haven't.
23
One of the most beautiful things about Islam is how cleanliness is already such a big part of our faith.
24
The Messenger of Allah has said that cleanliness is half of faith.
25
SubhanAllah, just take a moment to just think about that.
26
That is so insane to me how the Prophet has said that it is half of our faith.
27
Islam teaches us cleanliness through wudu, through usul, through taking care of ourselves, through personal hygiene, through taking care of our bodies.
28
So when I talk about self-care, I mean taking care of the body that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has trusted us with.
29
With that being said, let's get into the video.
30
The first thing I want to focus on is moral hygiene.
31
This is one of the biggest things that make me feel refreshed.
32
That includes brushing your teeth, flossing, scraping your tongue, using the CWAC.
33
Just something about having a clean mouth that makes you feel put together.
34
And I know as a kid, I like hated brushing my teeth.
35
Not that I'm not a kid anymore.
36
Obviously, I'm still a kid.
37
But I know like when I was younger, a lot of you guys were younger, hated brushing your teeth.
38
I don't know i just never liked brushing my teeth i
39
don't know why i i just i don't know i remember
40
i was watching this dentist on youtube would like react to
41
like videos of like people with like teeth falling out with like gum disease
42
and i remember watching that and i was like oh my god
43
that is so nasty like for people
44
that don't brush their teeth like literally their gums will start to swell up
45
and then you'll see like plaque plaque i think it's plaque
46
right plaque will start forming they will have food rot between their teeth for like days and weeks.
47
I remember saying that and I was just like yeah I don't want that.
48
It really scared me and I started taking care of my oral hygiene way more.
49
Even during that time I feel like I ignored flossing because I just thought brushing was enough.
50
But flossing your teeth is just as important.
51
Like brushing it doesn't get everything because you don't brush between your teeth right?
52
You brush the outside, the inside, top
53
and bottom you can't go between every teeth
54
so flossing will help get rid of anything that's stuck there beyond
55
that i love
56
that oral hygiene is something emphasized in our religion the prophet
57
sallallahu alayhi wasalam was using a siwak 1400 years ago has also said
58
that if i had not found it hard for my followers
59
or the people i would have ordered them to clean to clean their teeth with siwak for every prayer.
60
That already tells you a lot about oral hygiene.
61
Next is hydration.
62
I know everyone talks about water.
63
Every influencer, every self-care video, unfortunately, they are right.
64
Water is such an underrated self-care hack.
65
Honestly, I really need to drink more water as well.
66
It's talked about so enough, but I sometimes think that not everyone takes it seriously.
67
It's a very important thing, especially in skincare.
68
It will get rid of those pimples for sure, especially if you're trying to do weight loss helps a lot with
69
that as well dehydration can cause break out as energy drops sometimes you might even start feeling sluggish
70
if that makes sense i have definitely felt like i've experienced
71
that before and sometimes you think you just need more skin care
72
and like the expensive skin care
73
that everybody talks about in reality all you need is water one thing you should always prioritize
74
is keeping water nearby you throughout the day um you can
75
also buy like a water bottle i have a 40 i
76
think this is 40 ounces you can buy really any water bottles make sure to fill it up
77
and keep it nearby you know just drink it every once in a while and regular water bottles work too but
78
come on guys save the world can't you like recycle plastic and like people they do stuff with it
79
Now let's talk skincare.
80
I love skincare.
81
I feel like it's something I do whenever I need to relax.
82
Like skincare is my relax thing.
83
I mean, I do keep it pretty simple though.
84
All these influencers do it, you know, just for the content.
85
Obviously, they don't actually have a 20-step skincare routine.
86
Unless they do, I would be surprised.
87
All you really need is cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and consistency.
88
Learn that having consistency is much more important than having 30 other skincare products.
89
Social media definitely makes you feel like sometimes you need a 12-step skincare routine.
90
But I promise you, they're just doing it for the content.
91
The best thing I've done is just staying consistent with the basic things.
92
I think this applies to, like, life in general.
93
Sometimes we think we need crazy, dramatic, exaggerated transformations.
94
But most transformations come from small actions repeated consistently.
95
The same way our skin improves with consistency, the same way our relationship with Allah improves with consistency,
96
Our habits improve through consistency.
97
Small things regularly have way more impact than bigger things done occasionally.
98
By the way, I forgot to mention my skincare that I use currently.
99
I use the 345.
100
This is the viral cream that's like all over TikTok.
101
And it's been about a week, I would say.
102
But it's been pretty good so far.
103
I've had pimple scarring for quite a while and I'm starting to see them go away which is good.
104
I also used this sunscreen.
105
This is really good.
106
I love this sunscreen so much.
107
I use SPF 50 which is what you want especially in the summer when the sun is screaming.
108
Last summer I was wearing this sunscreen right like every day I would wear it every day.
109
It was going really good.
110
One day I forgot to put it on so I left my house
111
and I come home right like at the end of the day I come home from school.
112
I take off my naqab and I look in the mirror and there's literally a tan.
113
I'm not even joking.
114
It's literally still there.
115
You guys can't see it but it is still there and
116
although it's not as visible I it was low-key embarrassing because imagine just having like a random like line on your nose.
117
Sunscreen is definitely very important for that.
118
I have a friend that gets tanned very easily
119
and she's hijabi this part of it was like darker than
120
the rest of her skin it was kind of funny
121
but yeah i also used this one this one i don't use every day
122
but you don't have to make it like super complex or anything
123
so that's just something to keep in mind now for hair care this one is especially for my fellow hijabis
124
and naqabis just because nobody sees your hair or your face doesn't mean you neglect it.
125
And I can definitely say that sometimes some of us we fall for the mindset
126
that oh no one's gonna see it anyway but we shouldn't only take care of ourselves when other people are watching.
127
Our bodies are an amanah from Allah.
128
So definitely still try to oil your hair, take care of your scalp, avoid excessive heat, and make sure your hair is healthy underneath your hijab.
129
I feel like a lot of hijabis
130
and ex-hijabis have spoken about the reason why they took off their hijab
131
or they want to take off their hijab it's
132
because their hair is falling out definitely try investing in better quality um under caps and hijabs
133
and naqabs this one is made out of wool chiffon i
134
believe it's very breathable very lightweight um i almost never break
135
out in this alhamdulillah i love these naqabs a lot for
136
under caps i would recommend buying silk under caps You can literally just find some on AliExpress, Shein, or Timu for like $2.
137
I know how expensive buying it in the US or the UK can be.
138
Talking about naqabs, I have a little surprise coming for you guys.
139
Definitely not anytime soon, but it's in the process, okay?
140
I think I already gave you kind of a hint, but I am very excited myself.
141
Anyways, going back to hair care.
142
um yeah
143
so try investing in good quality undercaps um i know i did say to purchase some from like aliexpress
144
but honestly they have some pretty good like silk undercaps i'm
145
not even gonna lie it might be a little more than like the usual undercap pricing
146
but it's like like i think it's like five dollars
147
or something i'll put links in description in if in case i find any
148
Another thing to prioritize is showering and taking care of your body.
149
I know this sounds obvious,
150
but I genuinely think that showering can reset your entire day, especially morning showers.
151
There have been days where I felt tired, but after taking a quick shower, I started feeling normal, I started feeling me again.
152
Don't get me wrong, showering will not remove your problems, but it will definitely help you feel refreshed enough to deal with them.
153
There is something about feeling clean that affects your mood, your energy, everything.
154
The things you use in your self-care routine is also very important.
155
Exfoliating is really good, especially because it removes that dead skin that's been on your body for a long time.
156
Hijab itself needs care too.
157
Washing your hijabs regularly, washing your undercaps, keeping everything organized, making sure everything smells fresh,
158
rotating pieces so you're not wearing the same thing every day.
159
All of those things make a huge difference.
160
If you're a naqabi, you already know how quickly your naqabs can pile up to be getting washed
161
and I wish someone told me that earlier.
162
Another part of self-care for me is movement.
163
You know, it doesn't have to be crazy.
164
You don't have to run on the treadmill for like an hour long.
165
You can just go out for a little walk.
166
You can do a little bit of stretching, getting outside, fresh air.
167
Sometimes we underestimate how much our bodies need movement.
168
Even like these past few days, I've been inside because it's been like so hot outside.
169
It's all like 80s and 90s pretty much this week.
170
I forgot in the US we use Fahrenheit.
171
I know we're the only country that does that.
172
Imagine you're going out and you're like, hey guys, it's 10 degrees Celsius.
173
Like that's so weird.
174
Spending days indoors can definitely affect your energy
175
and your mood that's a reminder
176
that taking care of our health doesn't always require something extreme or complicated or anything like that
177
now let's talk about sleep because no skincare product can change chronic exhaustion exhaustion exhaustion
178
Is that how you say it?
179
Exhaustion.
180
Sleeping well will literally change your entire life.
181
But literally, sleeping well will literally change your entire day.
182
Your mood, your focus, your skin, your productivity, your energy, and yet sleep is the first thing we sacrifice.
183
Sometimes we stay up scrolling, watching videos, checking messages, telling ourselves we're going to sleep five minutes later, and the next thing we realize, it's two in the morning.
184
One thing I've been trying to work on is creating a night routine
185
that will help me stay productive and prioritizing my rest because resting is also just as important.
186
The other day I had a final for pre-calc okay it
187
was really bad I mean not bad meaning like I had
188
to study like the day before it was on a Monday
189
and I studied until four in the morning basically until fudger I only had like one hour of sleep
190
and I noticed I literally noticed how like slow I was
191
that day I just like didn't know what was going on I remember like texting my friends when I got home.
192
I was so tired, but I was texting them
193
and I was just saying stuff that didn't make sense and I was just like, what is wrong with me?
194
Like why am I being weird?
195
Like what?
196
And then I realized I really needed to sleep so I did nap like the entire day.
197
Now we're getting to what I think is the most important part about self-care and that is spiritual self-care.
198
There have been days where everything just looked fine.
199
I've done my skincare, my room was clean
200
but internally I just felt dead and that's when I realized that sometimes the self-care isn't needing another product.
201
It's Quran, it's Dikr, it's making Dura, remembering why I'm here, to remembering what my purpose is.
202
I currently am in a fifth class.
203
I also try to do my morning etka and my evening etka.
204
Evil eye is real.
205
I actually have a very crazy story time on how my
206
closest friend in high school literally like tried giving me evil eye.
207
That's for another time but literally it was crazy.
208
I'm grateful that it even happened because it's taught me a lot about friendships
209
and to always be careful with who you are close to because you literally never know like what someone is thinking.
210
You could have the closest friend that's sitting right next to
211
you just for her to like be jealous of you and then like do something behind your back.
212
May Allah protect all of us from people like that.
213
Taking care of your heart is just as important as taking care of your body.
214
Actually it's even more important because our body ages but the state of our hearts affect everything.
215
Our worship, our relationships, our character, our peace.
216
And when your heart is being taken care of, everything else just becomes so much more easier.
217
So the last thing I want to talk about is keeping a clean environment.
218
A clean room, a clean desk, a clean space.
219
Our environments affect us more than you realize.
220
Whenever my space is messy, my mind just feels messy too whenever i have to study
221
and i see i have a messy desk it just makes
222
me not want to study at all having a clean space will really help change
223
that you know because whenever something's clean you know you don't want to ruin it
224
and you just want to be in that area
225
because who wants to be in like a dirty trash area
226
with like rats new york is like known for like the rats guys i don't know why
227
but literally like i feel like the rats are cute like
228
are they not i literally love the subway rats i can't believe i'm saying this
229
but i love the subway rats they're just
230
so cute like they're just there running around looking for food
231
even though they probably got like some crazy disease yeah anyways
232
i try to do a room reset like every sunday i feel like sunday is like a reset day
233
and that is my self-care and hygiene tips as a muslimah
234
and a nifabi it's not perfect it's not aesthetic these are things
235
that help me
236
and can help you feel refreshed intentional goal is not perfection
237
it's not looking flawless it's not looking pretty on the outside
238
you have to look pretty on the inside as well you
239
know you should always try to look your best the goal
240
is ihsan you know do things of excellence even the smallest parts
241
