Wild times we live in - 영상으로 영어 말하기 배우기

1
A lot of developers right now feel like coding isn't enjoyable anymore, that our future is uncertain, that our job is nowadays just babysitting some agents,
2
that we have to review so much code and management is just pushing us to do more and more and more.
3
It should all make us more productive in the end, but when being honest, you're just working more than ever before.
4
So much slop, so many you're absolutely right moments, and just so many things that suddenly become important.
5
So token consumption, our workflows, MD files, skills, MCPs, and whatnot.
6
Look, I also sometimes miss sitting there, scrolling through these endless stack overflow poles,
7
trying to fix a bug just to then experience that moment of joy when something finally works out.
8
I sometimes also miss having to write a complicated algorithm, just thinking through all these possible edge cases, thinking about how I can make it most efficient.
9
That was all fun.
10
And I think it's mostly
11
that it just got harder to get into this flow state with AI because you're not constantly doing something anymore.
12
But in the end, you put in a prompt
13
and then you wait for a response
14
or at least constantly have to go through this context switch when running stuff in parallel.
15
But just like that, I also miss
16
so many things I did in my childhood where my only worry was after all
17
that my Charizard is dying when fighting Gary in the Pokemon League.
18
So I can relate.
19
Things have changed.
20
But nevertheless, if this is making you feel bad, I want to give you a different perspective with this video because I genuinely think this trend isn't all negative.
21
And I genuinely think that the bare fact you've clicked on this video means you're currently blocking yourself in some way.
22
Your bad feelings aren't actually coming from what is happening out there.
23
It's not AI itself that is making you feel bad.
24
And in my case, it's not Pokemon that is making me feel bad.
25
But what is making you feel bad is resistance against it.
26
It's thinking that it shouldn't be like this when it actually is.
27
It's this feeling that you want to lock in that state of joy forever.
28
Or in other words, being mentally too attached to the past.
29
But the past is over and it won't come back.
30
It has always been like that.
31
This is nothing new.
32
And this feeling is where you're currently blocking yourself.
33
And that is the real problem.
34
Because in the end, what you do in the presence right now is what creates the results of the future.
35
And with whatever happens in your life or whatever happens in your career, there is always an activating event.
36
So here, for example, AI is now writing most of the code.
37
So you have this event, then there is a belief you attach to it.
38
And this belief is what leads to the emotional outcome.
39
So how you actually feel about it.
40
In other words, it's not the event itself making you feel bad, but how you interpret it.
41
And an interpretation is just a thought and has nothing to do with reality.
42
But your mind treats it as that.
43
And I know this is getting quite psychological here, but I had to learn this myself.
44
The evolutionary job of your mind is simply to make sure you survive.
45
And that's why it attaches interpretations to everything.
46
That's also why you don't have to rock over a red light to know doing so could be dangerous.
47
So you can turn off your mind making interpretations.
48
But you can become more conscious about when it does.
49
Therefore the first step to really feeling better about all this big change to our career here is just acknowledging
50
that things are always happening.
51
That security also doesn't exist and that the story your mind tells you is not a fact.
52
And the good thing is you can use this exact mechanism for your advantage as well
53
because if your mind can draw negative conclusions, it can also draw positive ones.
54
And let's think about it.
55
AI is changing our industry, but not that much.
56
It is changing how we code, but not what we build and also not why we build something.
57
Before the AI era, if you would have asked most developers why they enjoy coding, they would have said they simply love the joy of building something useful.
58
That coding kind of makes them feel like a little god who is just under control of where the journey goes.
59
And AI lets us do more of this now.
60
It lets us have more control and build more.
61
A single person can nowadays build with AI what has previously required a team.
62
So we have way more possibilities nowadays.
63
AI also doesn't make taste go away.
64
AI doesn't make difficult technical decisions go away.
65
And AI also doesn't make planning, drafting, and organizing that work go away.
66
The only thing it makes go away is the act of typing syntax via your keyboard.
67
And if you feel like you're reviewing too much code, too much slop, and you're just babysitting your agent, that to a large degree can be fixed by just improving your AI skills.
68
By really establishing a great workflow, building a tailor -made verification framework, for example.
69
So there are things you can actually do to drastically improve the output from AI.
70
And then the review will be necessary, but it will be much nicer because the code is initially just a lot better.
71
Yes, there will still be things to improve, but it'll be a lot better.
72
And ultimately, if a human would have written all that code, he would have also had to review it.
73
And AI is allowing us to learn so much more now in a shorter time.
74
We're suddenly not constrained to just Android development anymore, for example.
75
We can suddenly build backends as well.
76
We can build websites.
77
We can build a game because typing code is not a bottleneck anymore.
78
It just lets us try things and iterate on these trials
79
so much faster and therefore learn so much more and gain real practical experience so much faster.
80
So I completely get when it makes you feel bad when you say, okay, it was so much fun to type code.
81
Again, I love typing code and I also still sometimes do it to learn new things.
82
And I miss these times, but I also miss many, many other things that are simply belonging to the past now.
83
So see things really from a realistic perspective because you in the end have exactly two options.
84
You either say, this is making you feel so bad that you just quit your job, quit your career, move into the mountains and I don't know, grow some tomatoes on your own farm.
85
Or you say, no, I actually want to keep this career.
86
I want to keep building stuff.
87
And if the latter here is true, if that is your choice, then look into the future positively.
88
Focus on the chances.
89
Focus on what you can do right now to make your career be better in a year, in two years, in five years.
90
But you have to get out of this mental downward spiral because it's really not contributing to your future in any way.
91
And I guess in five years, coding will again be drastically different than it is right now.
92
But if you now have this downward spiral, It will also keep you back from adapting where you should adapt to still be relevant.
93
So we're not in 1960 anymore.
94
Things have changed and that is completely okay.
95
So I hope this video maybe helped you a little bit.
96
Think a bit more positively.
97
If you feel like you really need this positive surrounding, developers who really want to learn, who want to grow and just someone who helps you put your career on the right track again,
98
you can check out my mentorship program in this video's description.
99
And other than that, thanks so much for watching this.
100
I will see you back in the next video.
101
Have an amazing rest of your week.
102
Bye -bye.
103
Thank you.

또한 "resistance against it"나 "flow state" 같은 고급 표현도 포함되어 있어 어휘력 향상에도 좋고, shadow speak 연습에 적합한 속도와 억양이 돋보입니다.

  • "I sometimes also miss having to write a complicated algorithm" – "miss having to ~"은 "~해야 했던 시절이 그립다"는 뜻으로, 과거의 경험에 대한 애정을 자연스럽게 표현합니다. "having to"는 부담스러움도 함축하지만, "miss"와 함께 쓰면 그 과정이 소중하게 느껴지는 느낌을 전달해요.
  • "It's not AI itself that is making you feel bad" – "It's not ~ that ~" 구조는 "~가 ~하는 것이 아니다"라는 강한 주장을 할 때 자주 사용됩니다.
  • "What you do in the present right now is what creates the results of the future" – "What ~ is what ~" 구조는 "~하는 것이 ~다"라는 관계를 강조합니다.
