3
Hello, my lovely English learners.
4
I'm Tara and welcome back to English Learners Podcast.
5
I'm really happy to be here with you for day three of our five -day English -speaking practice challenge.
6
Before we begin, tell me something.
7
Where are you joining me from, and what is your first language?
8
Tamil, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, or another language?
9
Tell me in the comments.
10
where you're learning English from.
11
Now, today we're going to do something a little different.
12
We won't be repeating individual sentences after me.
13
Instead, I'm going to share my daily routine with you.
14
I'll speak very slowly and clearly so you can listen carefully and shadow my English as I speak.
15
Your job is simple.
16
Listen to my pronunciation, pay attention to my intonation,
17
rhythm and stress and when you feel ready speak along with me.
18
In today's reading I'll be talking about my daily routine using useful everyday phrasal verbs.
19
This will help you hear phrasal verbs in context,
20
understand how they work in real English and use them more naturally when you speak.
21
So, this is still shadowing English -speaking practice,
22
but today we're going to practice through a complete reading instead of separate sentences.
23
And remember, you don't need to catch every word the first time.
24
Just listen.
25
Follow the words on the screen, watch the highlighted phrasal verbs, and try to copy the way I speak.
26
I'll keep my English slow and clear so you have time to listen and shadow.
27
All right, are you ready?
28
Let's begin your English -speaking practice with shadowing.
29
My daily routine.
30
I usually get up at around seven in the morning.
31
I don't like to get up too late because I like having a quiet start to my day.
32
After I wake up, I open the curtains and let some fresh air into my room.
33
Then I get ready for the day.
34
I take a shower, get dressed and make myself a cup of tea.
35
While I'm having my tea, I usually look through my messages and check my plans for the day.
36
I don't spend too much time on my phone because I don't want to get distracted so early in the morning.
37
After breakfast, I start working on the most important things on my list.
38
Sometimes I have a lot to do, but I try to focus on one thing at a time.
39
If I have a meeting, I usually write down a few important points before it starts.
40
This helps me feel prepared and keeps me organised.
41
Around lunchtime I take a short break.
42
I usually step outside for a few minutes and get some fresh air.
43
Sometimes I catch up with a friend during my lunch break.
44
It's nice to talk about what's happening in our lives.
45
After lunch I get back to work.
46
If I have unfinished tasks, I try to carry on until I finish them.
47
Of course, some days don't go according to plan.
48
Something unexpected might come up and I have to change my plans.
49
When that happens, I try not to worry too much.
50
I simply deal with the problem and move on.
51
In the evening, I usually finish up my work and leave my desk.
52
Well done, my dear English learners.
53
That was day three of your English speaking practice.
54
Today, you listened to a complete daily routine and heard many useful phrasal verbs in context.
55
You didn't have to repeat every sentence three times.
56
Instead, you listened, followed the text and shadowed the reading with me.
57
That's a different kind of English -speaking practice and it's a very useful one.
58
If you found today's reading difficult, listen again.
59
The second time will feel easier.
60
And the third time, try to speak along with me from beginning to end.
61
Remember to focus on intonation, rhythm and pronunciation.
62
Don't just listen to the words.
63
Listen to how they are spoken.
64
And before you go, I have a question for you.
65
What do you do first thing when you wake up?
66
Do you check your phone, make a cup of tea, take a shower, go for a walk?
67
Tell me in the comments.
68
I'd love to hear about your morning routine.
69
And most importantly, keep speaking.
70
Don't give up halfway.
71
I'll see you in day four of your English speaking practice.
72
Keep practicing, keep learning and keep speaking English.
