One restaurant has good food, but it is expensive.

25
Another has a special meal you want to try.

39
Imagine that you want to buy a pair of shoes.
40
You find a pair that you like.
41
The shoes look good, they feel comfortable, and the price is okay.

43
But then you see another pair
44
They're a little cheaper
45
Then you see another pair
46
With a different color
47
Then you find another pair
48
With many good reviews
49
Now you start thinking
50
Maybe I should look at a few more
51
So you keep looking
52
You find ten more pairs
53
But now you have a new problem
54
You do not know which pair to choose
55
Before You only had one question
56
Do I like these shoes?

Now you have many questions.

76
It looks very good too.

91
If you choose one holiday, you cannot take every holiday at the same time.
92
That is normal.
93
A choice means saying yes to one thing and no to another.
94
Once you make a good choice, it can help to stop looking at all the other choices and enjoy what you have.
95
So, how can we make choices easier?
96
First, think about what you really need.
97
If you want to choose a restaurant, maybe you only need three things.
98
Good food, a good price, and a place near you.
99
If a restaurant has these things, you do not need to check 50 other restaurants.
100
If you want to buy a shirt, choose a few colors you like and look at those.
101
You do not need to look at every shirt in the store.
102
You can also give yourself a time limit.
103
For example, you can look for a restaurant for 10 minutes and then choose one.
104
You can look at three pairs of shoes and choose one.
105
A small limit can stop you from thinking about the same choice again and again.
106
Another useful question is, is this good enough?
107
We often ask, is this the best?
108
But the best can be very hard to find.
109
Good enough is much easier.
110
If something works well, fits your needs, and makes you happy, maybe you do not need anything else.
111

112
If you buy a phone, enjoy using it.
113
If you choose a restaurant, enjoy your meal.
114
If you choose a movie, watch it instead of looking for another movie.
115
You do not have to find the perfect choice every time.
116
You just need to make a choice that works for you and then give it a chance.
117
More choices can sound like more freedom, but sometimes they can make us tired.
118
Too many choices can make simple decisions difficult.
119
They can make us worry about choosing the wrong thing.
120
And even after we choose, they can make us think about what we did not choose.
121
So the next time you have too many choices, do not feel that you have to look at everything.
122
Ask yourself, what do I really need?
123
Choose a few good options.
124
Pick one, then stop looking.
125
You do not need the perfect meal, the perfect shirt, the perfect movie, or the perfect decision every time.
126
Sometimes a good choice is enough.
127
And sometimes the best way to enjoy your choice is to stop thinking about all the other choices you could have made.
128
You made it to the end.
129
Keep listening, keep speaking, and keep practicing.
130
You do not need to choose everything.
131
Sometimes choosing one good thing and enjoying it is enough.

  • Stemhebbende eindmedeklinker — /b/, /d/, /g/, /z/, /v/ niet verscherpen: arrive /əˈɹaɪv/, sandwich /ˈsæn(d).wɪd͡ʒ/
