2
Before the competition we saw a short video clip of you on the big screen
3
and one of the questions was who inspires you and you say Embo.
4
So can you tell us a little bit more about it please?
5
I feel like not only as an athlete she inspires me, but also as a person.
6
I think she's actually the most genuinely nice person you will ever meet.
7
And she is so, like, she's so amazing.
8
And she's so sweet.
9
And she's, I don't know, I literally can't come with words better than genuinely nice from her soul
10
and she works so hard and everyone loves her as they should.
11
If someone on this earth doesn't like Amber, they need their brain scanned. On the tissue?
12
I'm so proud.
13
And I feel like she deserves everything amazing in this world.
14
And I just love, like, I think on the practice, like the other day, I don't know if it was Thursday
15
or yesterday I Did like saw a piece from my short program
16
and I like landed I think I landed my axle in my short program
17
and Amber was skating past me and I don't remember if she went like Like yeah, or she like clapped or like she was like it was like
18
You know like I mean I don't expect everyone to do
19
that because it's practice and we all have to focus on each other
20
but I feel like she's just so sweet as a person.
21
And the definition of sportsmanship, and she works so hard, and she deserves everything good.
22
Thank you so much.
23
It's all I ever want.
24
I just...
25
As you can tell from that answer, Isabel is an incredible person, so sweet and so caring, and she's the future of our sport,
26
and I just want to encourage that and see her thrive.
27
And so, sorry.
28
Thanks.
29
Okay, sorry, I'll ask a serious question.
30
Beautifully said.
31
Luna, congratulations.

About This Lesson

You're practicing English with "Isabeau Levito gives high praise for role model and fellow Team USA skater Amber Glenn" using the Shadowing technique — a method originally developed for professional interpreter training.

Focus on sounding like the speaker — not just repeating words. With 15–30 minutes of daily practice, you'll build real-world speaking confidence.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
