1
If I could live a life, if I could live a life full of pleasure,
2
full of enjoyable moments, no pain,
3
no suffering, I would wish for eternal life for sure.
4
It is the greatest thing that actually can happen to you.
5
You are spending this life on earth and the only thing that you have is a pleasant life.
6
But the reality is not like that.
7
The reality is we have pleasant moments, we have joyful moments, we have healthy moments,
8
we have enriching moments, but at the same time we're also facing something where we could absolutely
9
live without it if we would have the choice.
10
The fact of losing people, the fact of being betrayed, the fact of being judged,
11
being insulted, being discriminated, being hurt.
12
Many ways, many ways that do not feel pleasant.
13
Isn't there a way how to find a proper perspective upon life
14
to understand what is it that I am embedded in in order to still try my best
15
and reduce the amount of unpleasant or suffering, what we refer to it.
16
This is the whole idea about it.
17
Many people haven't gotten to the point yet to really understand
18
that just like we train our muscles and go to the gym to achieve something,
19
there are also areas about us, human beings let's say, that also need to be trained.
20
And all of this taken together I refer to as self-mastery.
21
Because no matter, you might change your job one day, you might change the location where you're living, the surrounding is going to change,
22
the people that you're dealing with is going to change but there's always one thing that always remains the same,
23
which is you always carry yourself along the way.
24
So you can't escape yourself, you can't escape your dark side,
25
you can't escape your pain and your suffering and everything that in a way is triggering you also.
26
If I wished, I wished that I would have lived this life and I just have joyful and pleasant moments.
27
No regret, no sorrow, no fear, nothing of that.
28
The reality is, it's not like that.
29
The reality is that every human being at some point is facing all of this.
30
I used to think I would never arrive
31
or be at the place where I am right now without all the things that happened in the past.
32
Because at some point the sorrow or even the regrets,
33
they have been so painful in a way that I was left only with like two choices.
34
Number one, you learn from what went wrong.
35
And number two, and this is the, I do think is a very hard part,
36
it's the part of learning to let go by forgiving.
37
Forgiving two areas.
38
In case somebody is involved, you forgive the one that is involved, but foremost you forgive this one.
39
You know, so we always think about how should we forgive like other people,
40
which is already very hard but it's even harder to sometimes forgive yourself but
41
you can't you can't move into the future you cannot move on
42
if you still carry old baggage inside of you yeah and this is where I feel like it must be learned
43
It's a very, very interesting question. And why? Because this answer of
44
what is it that you are identifying yourself with
45
also gives you the answer how do I reduce the suffering of this lifetime?
46
That is essentially what all of this is about.
47
This world is filled with so much choice that it's difficult in a way to take the decision which direction to go, what is right to do,
48
what is not right to do.
49
But ultimately it's only yourself who knows the answer.
50
Which means learn more about yourself.
51
This is where it starts.
52
Because if you have the wrong perspective of who you are, what you are, everything else in this lifetime you base your decisions on,
53
it's just not going to be placed in the right direction.
54
You want to reach your goal?
55
How to reach the goal the quickest?
56
Be focused with your energy.
57
Meaning, be focused with the mind.
58
Don't lose the goal from the mind.
59
Whatever you do from the moment of waking up until the evening, whatever you do, keep the goal in the mind.
60
This is the quickest way of making this goal become real.
61
The truth is, the lifetime of what you carry right now and what I carry right now, it's limited.
62
And now just imagine, you would be, let's say, the director of your own movie.
63
Jump out of the body and watch yourself right now and you are writing your story.
64
How do you want to write the story?
65
You want to like feel uncomfortable,
66
feel unsafe, feel unloved, feel like just unsatisfied with the whole life, cry or anything like this?
67
Or how do you imagine what is a really nice way of living for you the next 50 years?
68
And based on that, purpose can be different.
69
You say, I do like the travel, I do like to invest this lifetime in this body to have the feeling at least
70
that I can contribute something to all the fellow brothers and sisters that are around there.
71
It makes me like I wake up, I like to do it, it gives me purpose.
72
So it is something very, very personal.
73
There is always the struggle between doing and being.
74
doing, I would ask, why are you doing? So why?
75
Why do you want to go into action?
76
Mostly, there is a goal.
77
The goal, why do you have that goal?
78
Because you're aiming at receiving something that in the moment where you have it, apparently you are lacking.
79
So that means this type of goal setting.
80
In my perspective, I would automatically refer to it already that your goal setting already comes from a space of lack.
81
You feel like you're lacking something.
82
That's why you need to do.
83
You feel like you're lacking something.
84
That's why you need to educate yourself.
85
Okay, so this is the one direction.
86
Now coming back maybe sounds again too philosophical.
87
Connected with the source.
88
There's nothing to add and there's nothing to take away from you.
89
So apparently when somebody has this very very high ambition of doing something,
90
achieving something, It is coming from the idea of wanting to nourish or create an identity.
91
An identity that represents something that you think you want to represent.
92
So this is the one area.
93
The doing versus the being.
94
There are five hindrances that could make it difficult for you to reach that goal in the mind.
95
There is sensory desires, ill will, dullness, restlessness and then self-doubt.
96
I make it super simple when it comes to the five hindrances.
97
Literally it's like this.
98
Whatever appears in our life, if I have my goal set right now, what you are not supposed to do is to witness something.
99
And now if you have like the number one sensual desire, sensory desire, what we tend to do is we like start to pull things towards us.
100
Okay that's number one.
101
The second thing what not to do this is what it all belongs to
102
that family of non-judgment is like
103
when ill will something appears in your life something you witness
104
you meet a person you don't want to meet you get the message you don't want to read
105
that message whatever it is
106
and you try to avoid it by doing actions in order to to push it away from you.
107
So what it ultimately means is don't do any of them because whatever you try to hold onto,
108
the nature of thing is that this is happening.
109
Swinging away.
110
It's gonna move away from you.
111
And whatever you try to avoid
112
and push away from you is just a question of time until it's gonna move like pretty close towards you.
113
also in the way of how it's expressed, don't touch the water.
114
If you don't want to have a life that is too shaky, don't touch the water.
115
Because in the moment you touch, your touch is the initiation for the ripples to appear.
116
Same way, you want to follow that goal, you want to have it easy along that goal.
117
Don't touch any additional water along your goal.
118
Don't touch it because you like something and don't touch it because you dislike something.
119
Because when you walk towards the goal and you do here and here and here, you're just gonna ripple your whole surroundings,
120
which ultimately means your energy is being just drawn away from your initial goal.
121
You don't like something and then you invest the energy there.
122
You like something and it draws your energy back to there.
123
Don't push, don't pull.
124
Be very aware who are you letting into your circle and ultimately rely on yourself, maintain the purity of your intention.
125
How does it help people to know the hard stuff?
126
Well, because I do think that it is symbolizing this way of life.
127
It is symbolizing the patterns of what you are going to go through in this lifetime.
128
this lifetime is not easy.
129
The more wishes you have, the more difficult it becomes.
130
The more ambitious you are, the more you will have to face.
131
So bottom line is, I do think
132
that in the moment where you just on a regular basis put yourself consciously and willingly
133
in different situations and circumstances that actually represent a little bit the structures of life.
134
There are moments in this lifetime where you are going to be super tense.
135
Super tense.
136
And then it's good to know already how does it feel and what is it that you can do?
137
Well, to learn and release the tension.
138
That's why releasing tension is also a big part of the exercises.
139
The one thing is learning to release tension.
140
The other thing is like when you are too sloppy, when you're too slacky, how to increase your tension,
141
how to increase the energy level again for you to get back into structure again.
142
So it's always this balance.
143
And so you're almost training to do hard things because hard things are an inevitability of the life we live.
144
In this training that I went through, for the moment maybe take all the spiritual part out, simply the Kung Fu training, the Shaolin Kung Fu training.
145
There is a saying which is Shaolin Kung Fu literally means walking through the valley of pain.
146
So, what does it mean?
147
When you are doing stretching, stretching, stretching, stretching, it's going to be painful.
148
when you are doing strength training is gonna be painful.
149
When you do conditioning training, it's gonna be painful.
150
So the whole path on this martial art journey,
151
it is just filled with working yourself up to the level of where it feels uncomfortable,
152
getting some consistency into the practice until the point where that uncomfortable feeling just started disappearing.
153
Why?
154
Because somehow you broke that initial comfort zone.
155
So, but then it doesn't end.
156
No. Next level.
157
It's not that I do not feel pain.
158
I also feel pain.
159
Maybe I feel it later.
160
But the essential part is that my connection,
161
my relation between the pain of the body towards what would it affect in the way of how I take my decisions.
162
That is a different one.
163
I feel the pain but at the moment I feel the pain
164
but I see no necessity to still change something about my way right now.
165
Why?
166
Because I can take the pain.
167
Whereas when you are not used to this pain you feel it and then it tells you, let's say it's It's painful, the mind is not good,
168
and so you directly change something.
169
And this is just the difference.
170
So it's not that I became numb.
171
No, I just feel there is an additional layer that I can observe about myself.
172
It is painful, but it's okay for right now.
173
This is absolutely inner work.
174
This has nothing to do with doing work out here.
175
It's inner work.
176
How does one begin the journey of doing that inner work?
177
You give trust in the vision that when you are investing your time right now to become more aware of yourself,
178
of your emotional state, that this is going to benefit your life.
179
That's the starting point.
180
You believe in it.
181
You believe in it.
182
So you don't do it because somebody tells you you're supposed to do it.
183
You do it because you genuinely believe this is the way.
184
I want to know more about myself.
185
I want to really understand what is it that I am made out of.
186
You want to figure out, is there something inside of myself?
187
I tried to look away for many years, but I know it's still there.
188
And was afraid to look at it.
189
All of these things.
190
There's only one way to make yourself free.
191
You need to become transparent.
192
If there are spots inside of ourselves where there is no light yet, it can't be.
193
It can't be.
194
Bringing light to everything that has been in the dark.
195
This is another area of the past, which at some point everybody will face.
196
Even though that this is now just like a saying, but just the idea.
197
Whatever you're doing, whatever you're thinking, whether people are around you or you're alone,
198
Just imagine, there is one who always sees what you're doing.
199
So live your life based on that.
200
It is the elevated version of you, but it's true.
201
It's you and you.
202
Once I've shone a light on that area of me, so I have greater awareness of its existence and it's now transparent,
203
is it a case then of what is the work I then have to do to make a change in that context.
204
So we're talking here about managing one's emotions
205
and getting a grip of one's emotions so you can avoid being triggered
206
or perpetrating the same patterns in your life that have led you to the same outcomes.
207
First you believe that it's possible to change, you gain a greater awareness of the parts of yourself
208
that you've kept in in the dark that you might want to change, and then what does one do from there?
209
Let me put it like this.
210
Whatever you are thinking, saying,
211
or doing has a consequence.
212
So this consequence that you have created or that you are intending to create,
213
Ask yourself, what is that consequence actually?
214
Does it make yourself, does it make your being, your interaction with people, does it make it feel more light,
215
more pleasurable, more enjoying, more free, more nourishing?
216
Or is the result that you are about to create going in the other direction?
217
Meaning you are nourishing conflict, you are nourishing aggression, feeling like you are carrying the suffering of the world on your shoulder,
218
feeling like there's a burden on you, feeling like there's a stone on your heart, feeling like you're being put under pressure.
219
All of these expressions have something to do with density, have something to do with pressure.
220
But then when we look at, no matter which tradition it is,
221
Buddhism, enlightenment, freedom, liberation, elevation, no matter what it is,
222
you see, it is just two forces in the world.
223
Two forces in the world,
224
one aiming for limitlessness and the other one aiming for restricting and very clear boundaries.
225
These are the two forces.
226
And this is exactly now turning the view upon yourself.
227
What are you made out of?
228
Your patterns, the emotional states that follow you within a week.
229
Within a week, looking back the last week, what was the most dominating emotion you felt inside yourself?
230
Was it one that had the character of limiting yourself in a way?
231
Or were you in an emotional state like through the week?
232
This was light, it was cool, liberated, free, uplifting, joyful, which of these?
233
So, and this simply gives you exactly from what to what do I think you need to transform yourself
234
if you want this.
235
The more you want your life now, let's say, in the future to be quite different than what you're used to,
236
the more you need to be able to let go.
237
Let go of patterns, let go of the way of thoughts that you had in the last years and months.
238
Now if nothing changes about that, there will not come a new life.

Why This Video Is Perfect for English Speaking Practice

This clip is a goldmine for learn english with videos because it blends natural conversational flow with deep, reflective content. The speaker’s pace is steady—not too fast—making it ideal for shadowspeaks (repeating aloud in real time). The vocabulary is advanced but accessible, with phrases like "old baggage" and "self-mastery" that add nuance to your speech. Plus, the emotional tone shifts from contemplative to encouraging, helping you practice natural intonation for different moods—key for IELTS speaking practice.

Breaking Down Natural English Phrases

Let’s unpack why the dialogue sounds so authentic:

  • "You can’t escape your dark side, you can’t escape your pain..." The repetition of "you can’t escape" creates rhythm, a common trick in spoken English to emphasize a point. It feels natural because we often repeat structures for clarity.
  • "The reality is, it's not like that." The pause after "is" mimics how we speak in real life—we often hesitate slightly to emphasize a contrast. This casual structure avoids formality, making it relatable.
  • "But ultimately it's only yourself who knows the answer." Using "yourself" instead of "you" adds emphasis, a subtle choice that makes the statement feel personal. Native speakers often use reflexive pronouns to strengthen a point.

A Simple Practice Routine for Better Pronunciation & Fluency

Use this shadowspeak loop to master the video’s flow:

  1. Watch 10 seconds of the video, focusing on mouth movements and stress (which words are emphasized).
  2. Hit pause, then repeat the segment aloud, matching the pace and tone. Record yourself.
  3. Compare your recording to the original. Note differences in pronunciation (e.g., "discriminated" has stress on the second syllable) and pauses.
  4. Repeat until your version sounds nearly identical. Do this daily for 10 minutes to improve english pronunciation and fluency.

This routine trains your brain to think in English and your mouth to form sounds naturally—essential for acing IELTS speaking practice or everyday conversations.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
