21
Siddhartha realizes that in order for him to fully achieve enlightenment, he would need to forget the many lessons he learned as he started as a Samanis.

There's a caterpillar and then a butterfly.
26
In order for the caterpillar to become a butterfly, it has to kill the part of itself that is a caterpillar and become something different, something that is unrecognizable, which is the cocoon or pupa.
27
And when the caterpillar ceases to be a caterpillar, it emerges and is now something totally different.
28
A butterfly.
29
And as a butterfly, it doesn't think the same as the caterpillar.
30
It is something completely new.
31
And so in the same way, for a lot of us, we need our former selves to die in order to become something greater or at least something different.
32
For Siddhartha, it took him his entire life to realize this, that what he was chasing, was enlightenment, could never be attained in the state that he was in.
33
He could only attain it after he had experienced more of life and ultimately became a different person.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
