Hi Eric, nice to meet you again here in the woods of New York, state of New York.

Cold enough for you is it?

It is pretty cold and yeah you are guiding me around a little bit in your hunting grounds right now right?

Yeah, that's right.

This is my spot this is where I like to hunt mostly.

We just found a spot over here where the deer are entering a field and leaving a field.

It's a good spot for them to feed.

So to see what deer in the area, what deer survived the hunting season last year I'll be able to take pictures of them.

Eric what are we up to right now?

I'm putting a camera up so I can get pictures of the deer

that are in the area still and I get a good idea of what what deer survived the winter.

I've got a digital card inside there I'll take all kinds

of shots take hundreds of shots I'll check it out later and see what we have around here.

Yeah we've just spent a lot of time talking about what the outdoors means for you, what hunting means for you, what nature means to you.

You also published a book, right?

Just currently about that very topic.

It's called String Theory for Bow Hunters.

Great title by the way.

It's about bow hunting as you can guess.

So what does it mean to you to be out here in this area?

This is just beautiful.

I mean, I don't know if you can catch it on camera, but right now we've got some big snowflakes all over the

place it's just it's just beautiful to hunt here it's beautiful just to get out here um

so when you asked me

if i wanted to do it i jumped at the opportunity i said hell yeah

because you're an excuse i just want to get out again you know

and see what it's like

and look at the deer tracks we've seen some tracks you

might be able to find some deer rubs where they rub

their antlers on the trees back there we'll take a look

and see if we can find that

but it's gorgeous out here it's quiet it's beautiful

so we just talked about a lot of stuff to know

what we talked about of course you have to listen to the podcast episode

but maybe just one question for the purpose of this video

if the listeners take one thing away from this episode

that we're doing right now about hunting about hunters um what

would you like them to take away from listening to our conversations Take away, first of all, that I'm a Viking fan, okay?

Everybody who knows me knows that I'm a Viking fan.

American football.

But take away the fact that it's not just the hunt, it's the outdoor experience that we're looking at here.

If you're fortunate enough to bring home some venison for the family, that's great.

It's good for you.

No fat.

It's really good for you.

But if you're not fortunate enough to do that, you still get to see nature.

I told you about the owl that landed near me not too long ago.

It was exciting to see and you know I didn't get a deer

that day but I did have an experience it was a great hunt.

So the hunt is not actually about getting the animal for you?

It's not the yeah it's not it's not bringing home the venison it's coming home safe you know

and being able to see everything in the woods that can't see you.

It's really exciting.
