Beyond Quảng Bình, Langxon province is also expanding adventure tourism through climbing and upselling experiences across its dramatic limestone landscapes.

The UNESCO Global Geopark spans more than 4,800 square kilometers It is home to caves,

cliffs and rock terrain ideal for exploration.

Tours are operated by a trained team with specialized equipment and strict safety procedures,

allowing visitors to enjoy the thrill of adventure with confidence.

So Kevin, adventure tourism is growing rapidly worldwide.

How is Vietnam fitting into this global trend and what gives Vietnam a competitive edge?

I think Vietnam is really almost perfectly positioned to take advantage of the growth in global adventure tourism.

You've got the different scenic and geographic regions of Vietnam that really are almost perfectly designed for adventure tourism.

You've got spectacular karst landscapes that are really unique for people from the United States.

Our limestone regions look completely different from yours.

It's much more exotic feeling.

right and now Vietnam clearly has a strong potential in this area

but it is still at a relatively early stage

so what are the key challenges that still need to be addressed

if the country wants to grow into a leading adventure tourism destination

I would say for me the number one priority is actually also the greatest challenge perhaps is addressing environmental issues.

I've been coming to Vietnam for 15 years and I have seen dramatic improvement,

I would say, in these areas.

But there are still some places,

especially in the outlying areas where messages of recycling and properly disposing of trash haven't caught on yet.

It would be nice to address the amount of agricultural burning that happens.

It would be great if they could think of a way to use the chaff

or dispose of it in a different way other than creating

so much smoke because that is an eye irritant and not healthy for people to breathe.

Yeah, and looking ahead, what should be the top priority to ensure

that adventure tourism develops in a sustainable and responsible way in Vietnam?

There were over 20 million tourists visited Vietnam last year.

And there are certain hot spots that are maybe too crowded in Vietnam,

but there are so many quality destinations that haven't been developed yet.

Developing tourism in a way

that spreads the load around the country in a more equitable

fashion will also improve the economic conditions of the people in these other provinces.

As far as safety and professional expertise,

I actually think Vietnam is doing quite well in this regard.

Really, really admirable skills in use of caving equipment in terms of ropes,

rigging, upselling and climbing.

They're doing a great job in terms of safety,

giving people thrilling experiences, adventurous experiences,

but at the same time,

they're keeping them safe and giving them the illusion of danger rather than actual danger.
