1
good morning it is monday
2
and i'm just getting ready to go to work it is pretty gloomy here today in vancouver it's raining
3
and usually i really hate the rain
4
but it's been sunny for like three weeks straight
5
so I don't mind a little bit of rain but it is pretty gloomy outside
6
I always bring lunch because eating out of Vancouver is so expensive so I always pack something
7
it's 9 30 right now and our first patient is scheduled to come at around 11
8
so i think i'm gonna head out class comes in 11 minutes
9
so i can go and set up and do some work before they come probably
10
This is our custom-built OCT system.
11
We usually have clinical trials every week where we get patients with different types of ocular diseases
12
and there are a few studies we're doing right now
13
but we want to see if we image them with our system
14
and then process the data in our way if can see more information than what the commercialized OCT systems can tell us.
15
There are definitely different types of biomedical engineering.
16
There are wet labs where you work with a lot of solutions and samples, and then I am part of a dry lab, so it's mostly computers, processing,
17
and on top of that there's also clinical work that we do.
18
We need this clinical data so that we can continue improving our systems and our algorithms.
19
And with every study you're going to need patients assigned search and consent forms.
20
So we usually get the patient list for the day
21
and then we hand it off to the front desk at the clinic
22
and then when it is time they send the patient to us
23
or we go down and get the patient and then once we finish with our system we send them back.
24
Our work is purely research, it's not really part of their clinical diagnosis but this information
25
that we are able to get we share directly back with the clinicians
26
and the clinicians will share it back with the patients.
27
I usually do a calibration with a model eye but I cannot find that model eye right now.
28
This is our software so when you click start it'll start scanning
29
and if there's an eye you'll see something but I cannot find the model eye right now so.
30
It is raining quite hot outside, but I just finished helping out with the imaging.
31
We have two students helping us, so I'm going to head back to the lab and do some work while they finish for the day.
32
Yeah, they've been doing well.
33
I feel like the rest of my day will be quite uneventful because I'll just be at the computer all day.
34
um but yeah we'll see so
35
I'm going to go to the next one.
36
Alright, I'm gonna get some coffee.
37
Let's see.
38
You have to take the coffee and check the test data.
39
I'm gonna take the test data and if it's pretty off, you can just keep eating the substitute.
40
TV best specific.
41
Just get up.
42
It's hard to get time with data. For a year school. So...
43
I just got home.
44
It's been quite a long day.
45
I mean, it's not too bad, but it was also raining really hard
46
so like the back of my pants were all wet because when you walk you kick the water up
47
okay so i'll probably shower and then i will cook i am making something new today
48
so i'm kind of excited um yeah see you soon okay so today i'm trying a new recipe with chicken wings and
49
fermented bean curd if you're chinese you probably know what this is
50
This is gonna be a little salty so I'm only gonna use a little bit of marinade,
51
just a little. so so
52
The first thing I want to do is to make sure that the the the I enjoyed it.
53
I enjoyed it.
54
It was a good a lot.
55
I enjoyed it.
56
You should be able to cook.
57
How did you drink?
58
How can I go find it?
59
You know what I'm doing.
60
I think if you were not interested in it, we could start making sense of a food.
61
I'd like to be careful.
62
You're not able to cook.
63
I'm like, oh, he's not the best.
64
You just want to cook.
65
I'm going to cook.
66
I want to cook my chicken.
67
I'm just leaving.
68
I'm not getting a sandwich.
69
Dinner is served.
70
I have the fermented bean curd chicken wings and some veggies.
71
And then I just have some leftover tofu.
72
Spicy tofu.
73
So finishing that.
74
Let's try the chicken wings.
75
Whoa oh
76
I feel like every time i make some yummy food i'm always super proud of myself Have you seen the phoeyu chicken?
77
that's good it's really good
78
I don't actually have the energy to practice a lot
79
but there's this part that I've been drilling
80
so I thought it would be a good idea to have these review some of it.
81
