A year prior to getting engaged,

I have just been getting monthly gel nails in preparation for a little surprise.

And I didn't take a single break.

It really did a number on the quality of my nails.

And honestly, I kind of like just the look of bare nails right now.

I am putting on like a very light clear coat on

my nails just to make them look a little shiny and put together.

So I'm going to chat with you guys while I do my nails.

One thing that I get asked a lot is adult friendships

and particularly women friendships are some of the hardest things to navigate but also the best thing ever.

I used to feel disappointed in certain friends who I thought

didn't show up for me the way I showed up for them.

And I realized I was expecting every friendship to show up in the same exact way.

The most important lesson that I learned in therapy,

not every friend is meant to fill every bucket in your life.

You have your fun friends who might show up for parties,

and then you have your ride or dies,

you would vent to them,

and maybe you have work friends who you talk about all things work.

I realized I can't expect my fun party friend to show up the same way as my ride or die friend.

There are just like different types of friends,

which was something that I had to learn,

and none of that makes the friendship less valuable and understanding

that has given me so much mental peace and a lot better relationships.
