let's talk about english vocabulary

and how do you actually learn new words i'm pretty sure

you're in the situation where you understand pretty much everything around you

but when you have to speak the words just don't come

and that's fine that's normal it happens to me it happens to everybody

because what happens is that you absorb you consume a lot of english

but you don't actually produce it so

if you want to add new words into your vocabulary

that you can actually use here's what you need to do

get a coffee take some notes save this video okay one of the biggest mistakes a lot of people make

when learning new words is that they are focusing on words

that they never need or never use for example you're reading this like complex news article

and you have 20 words that you don't know there

and you write them down on a piece of paper

or in your notebook

and you're like these are new words i need to know them no you don't you're not the author of

that article you don't work at

that media agency you don't need those words you will never use them

so what you need to do instead is to learn words

that you can actually put in context in your own life

and i would start with synonyms for example you know the

word happy right how many synonyms can you produce for this

word you know the word angry how many more synonyms can you produce for this word synonyms are words

that are specific for a certain situation right that's why they exist for example angry could also be upset

or it could also be enraged, irritated, annoyed, agitated, furious, livid, infuriated.

Take a word that you know like nice or happy

or angry or good and learn some synonyms

because whenever the situation is going to come that you will need a specific word for that context, you're going to sound a lot better because you're going to have a different option.

You can't just say nice all the time.

Oh, this is nice.

Oh yeah, it was nice.

Oh, the dress is nice.

The party was nice.

The food is nice.

Get some synonyms in.

And this is a great place to start because you're choosing words that you are already using, that you need, but you're also expanding your vocabulary at the same time.
