If you have ever wondered how animal rescuers get started in that job, well, this may offer an answer.

Late last month, a puppy fell into a gap between two buildings in central China.

The animal was trapped and scared, probably too much so to climb into a bucket on its own.

Being the only one around small enough to fit in the tight space, a brave toddler was airlifted, so to speak was lowered on a harness into the gap,

where somehow she was able to get a good grip on the precariously perched pooch.

Once she gave the signal, the adult holding the harness was able to fish her out again, the animal securely in her arms.

And after a slight adjustment with the position of her legs, both the toddler and the puppy were raised out of the gap and able to get back to fun and games.

The European Union, a group of 27 countries, is considering new social media limits for kids and teenagers.

If a proposed new law is passed, it aims to prevent anyone under age 13 from using social.

Parents and guardians of kids between 13 and 15 would be allowed to set up limited accounts for them.

Only at age 15 would teens be allowed to create their own.

Social media providers would also have to turn off AI companions and chatbots by default, and companies would be required to prove their services are safe for kids.

of the law say social media threatens kids' safety and mental health.

Critics say the law would limit kids' free expression, and social platforms are concerned about complications and privacy issues in enforcing it.

We don't know yet if the European law will pass.

Next, an age-related milestone in Japan, it now has more than 100,000 residents who are at least 100 years old.

It's the first time that's happened here, and almost 88 percent of these centenarians are women,

with the oldest woman being 114 and the oldest man being 112.

Japan had a total of 153 centenarians back in 1963.

The nation's government says medical advancements, healthy diets and active lifestyles are all factors in the increase.

But despite so many people living longer, Japan's population is decreasing, with fewer babies being born than are needed to keep the numbers stable.

Seniors in Japan are learning beauty secrets.

In a course teaching skills like how to fill in eyebrows, select their favorite lip color, and add a bit of blush.

Japan's biggest cosmetic brand, Shiseido Company, is hosting the classes for free for seniors across Japan.

Japan is the fastest aging society in the world.

With 36 million people, more than a quarter of its population age 65 or older.

In about a decade, that ratio is expected to be one in three people.

So a large part of the consumer market that Shiseido sells to will be elderly.

Japan's elderly market is estimated to grow to more than 100 trillion yen,

and that business is about a lot more than just remedies for sickness and old folks homes.

It taps into solid consumerism.

While Shiseido's course teaches makeup tips, it also promotes useful skills for the elderly.

It takes hand dexterity to open cosmetic tubes and draw on eyebrows, and massaging one's face gets the saliva glands going.

Plus, scientific studies show that learning a new skill or topic can significantly improve cognitive abilities and help your memory and attention.

Japan isn't the only country with a growing elderly population.

The world's population of people over 60 years old is expected to nearly double by 2050 according to the World Health Organization.

September 18th, 1793 saw the first parade in the U.S.

Capitol, but that wasn't the main thing that made the event historic.

The fanfare was held in honor of President George Washington, who was there to lay the cornerstone of the Capitol building.

Langford wrote a description of a geyser in the western US.

and then walked away with wet but clean garments.

It is easy to prepare as it only requires flour, water, a pinch of salt if needed, and a hot surface to be able to cook it.

Pan di via cakes were light, yet sturdy and packed with nutrition.

It proved to be a go-to food for people on the go,

such as Roman Legionnaires, an elite infantry unit outfitted with heavy armor that had to be capable of long marches.

And they have little space for food supplies.

Pilgrims traveling the Via Francigena, a route from Canterbury to Rome, needed something similar to provide sustenance.

Cosmic Latte sounds like an extra sparkly caffeine hit.

It's actually a color, at least according to two Johns Hopkins University astronomers.

In the early part of this century, they came up with an average color of light from galaxies and stars and whatever else we can see in the universe.

The resulting color is an off-white or beige-like hue, so they named it Cosmic Latte.
