Life is like a roller coaster.
2
I know this is a common statement I'm sure most of you have heard.
3
However, the statement has a lot of truth in it.
4
Now let me explain why.
5
Some parts of the roller coaster goes up and some go down.
6
And sometimes you feel euphoria,
7
sometimes you feel sick, and other times you feel fear.
8
Now whether this is during the ride or fear to even get on the roller coaster,
9
you wait and wait and wait,
10
then right before the theme park closes,
11
you muster up the courage to get on and the ride is closed.
12
This last scenario is common amongst many people.
13
They fear the ride and never get the chance to live.
14
They wait to start chasing their dreams because they might fail,
15
they wait to ask out their crush due to fear of rejection,
16
they wait to start losing weight because they're scared of judgement,
17
and they wait to switch careers because they're scared of change.
18
What I want to emphasize is some of the greatest rides of our lives lie on the other side of fear.
19
And I'm guilty of this,
20
I've faced fear many times in my life that kept me from finding out what was on the other side.
21
They say the number one regret of the dying isn't what they did in their life,
22
it's what they didn't do.
23
So whatever that dream is of yours,
24
whatever that passion is of yours,
25
whatever you're scared of, jump.
26
Jump like you're skydiving for the first time.
27
Now there will be ups and downs along your personal roller coaster.
28
You will face hardship.
29
You may feel like giving up is the best option for you.
30
That the mountain is too steep to climb you may feel like all the odds are stacked against you
31
and that may be because they are.
32
And this is for a reason.
33
This is a test.
34
A test to see how much you want what you're chasing.
35
And Murphy's Law will always show up when you're chasing something spectacular.
36
For those who don't know Murphy's Law,
37
essentially it means anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
38
See, life happens for you, not to you.
39
And when you set your goals towards something and start acting on them,
40
life will hand you situations and hardships that will ultimately be the building blocks towards your success.
41
See adversity steers many people away,
42
and as the great stoic Seneca said,
43
no man is more unhappy than he who never faces adversity,
44
for he is not permitted to prove himself.
45
And I have noticed many times that when I overcome challenges,
46
it feels so much better than the easy rides.
47
So don't wait for the right moment,
48
don't wait for fear to subside,
49
climb in that seat, tie your running shoes,
50
use fear to propel you forward and chase your dreams.
51
You never know where they might take you.
52
And you don't need to see the top of the mountain you're climbing,
53
you just have to take the first step and don't look back.
54
And then when you fall,
55
brush off the dirt, refocus and keep on climbing because the The peak is waiting for you,
56
waiting for you to climb.
57
And even though the view will be stunning,
58
it's not about the view.
59
It's about who you become along the way.
