1
Aesop's fables the Lion and the Mouse.
2
There once was a mouse who was looking for something to eat.
3
He looked here and there, and even stood up on his feet.
4
As he searched through the forest, looking for food on the ground, he didn't realize he was next to a lion, who was sleeping and not making a sound.
5
But the lion opened his eyes and saw the mouse looking around.
6
He suddenly grabbed the mouse and said, “I'm going to eat you!” followed by a frown.
7
“Please don't eat me,” the mouse said.
8
“It just won't do.” “But if you let me go, I will one day repay you.” “Ha ha ha!” The lion gave a mighty laugh.
9
“Such a brave little mouse!” “I don't know how you can help me,” “but I will let you go so you can return to your house.” The lion placed the mouse on the floor, who promptly ran away.
10
Then the lion decided to go for a walk because it was such a beautiful day.
11
But as he strolled down the path, he got caught in a net.
12
And he saw he couldn't escape, so he started to sweat.
13
He let out a mighty roar, ROAR!
14
hoping someone would help.
15
This caught the attention of the mouse, who saw the lion trapped all by himself.
16
The mouse ran to the lion, and climbed up the tree.
17
Then chewed on the rope that held the net, setting the lion free.
18
The mouse then said to the lion, ”Because you were kind to me,” “I have no repaid you.” The lion looked at the mouse and realized what he said was true.
19
For he now understood what he had just learned, that a kindness that is given, is a future kindness returned.
