1
Are you ready to learn some real life English?
2
Well, good.
3
Because today we're going to continue showing you the side of America that you will not see in the movies.
4
Today we are going to explore the American trailer park.
5
Let's go.
6
Alright guys, so the lovely camera wife and I are driving around a trailer park right now.
7
And in this video, I want to give you guys a fair view of what a real trailer park is like.
8
And I'm going to be very honest, this one that we're in is awful.
9
Terrible trailer park, guys.
10
I wouldn't want my worst enemy to live here.
11
It's very sad.
12
The houses, well, the homes are destroyed.
13
mobile homes is another word we use for trailers guys and these mobile homes here are destroyed but there's actually people still living in them very sad so what i want to do in this video guys is be fair and show you that not all trailer parks look like this okay because when you think of a trailer park maybe you think of a trailer like this can you show this one out the window I'm going to just stick it out to another.
14
Something like this completely ugly and just destroyed.
15
And the honest truth is there's a lot of trailer parks like that here in the U.S.
16
But there's also some that are very clean.
17
The people take care of them.
18
Just honest people trying to live their lives and raise their families.
19
So I wanted to show you guys the extremes.
20
Okay, this one is the extreme towards the bad end.
21
Now, let's see if we can find a nice trailer park to show you as well, to be fair and honest.
22
So guys, why would somebody want to live in a place like this?
23
Well, honestly, it's cheaper.
24
It's much more affordable than a normal home.
25
One of these places to buy can be anywhere between 20 and $100,000.
26
And an average house in the United States can be around $400,000, which is crazy.
27
So for a lot of people, this is the only option.
28
But there are some things that make these places not as cheap as you might think.
29
So a lot of people live here just trying to find an affordable place to live.
30
But there are some issues, guys.
31
You are, one, living in a place that maybe is kind of dangerous.
32
Maybe there's a lot of drugs or bad things in these places and some of the more not nice ones.
33
We're going to show you one that is mainly just older people, but these ones can be dangerous and have a lot of dangerous people in them, but it's not as cheap as people think.
34
What do I mean by that?
35
Well, even if you own one of these trailers, you're not renting it, you own it, you still have to pay something called lot rent.
36
Okay, what is lot rent?
37
Well, a company or an investor owns this whole piece of land, and you have to pay rent for the little piece of land that your trailer is sitting on.
38
Many people don't know that.
39
So even if you fully own this place, you still have to pay property taxes and lot rent to the person who owns the lot or the big piece of land.
40
Another thing people don't realize about these trailer homes or mobile homes is that there's a lot of money and maintenance and what maintenance means is taking care of it.
41
So guys, I told you in another video that I lived in one of these before.
42
Okay.
43
Now something that happened to me that I had no idea could happen in one of these places in the winter guys, it gets so cold here.
44
Now all of the plumbing and pipes are under these houses, okay?
45
Underneath the houses, not underground like they would be in a normal house.
46
So these houses sit up and have all the pipes underneath them.
47
Okay.
48
And in the winter, the pipes freeze solid guys.
49
So what happens is you do not have running water in your home if you don't take care of them the right way.
50
If you don't know that this can happen and that happened to me.
51
So guys, the pipes froze and I would try and turn on the faucet for the water.
52
Shh, nothing happened.
53
So then you have to pay somebody to come and heat them up.
54
And it's a big deal, guys.
55
And it happens to all of them unless you know about it and are prepared.
56
I was not.
57
Another thing, guys, why these are not investments at all.
58
Maybe somebody thinks, well, it's a cheap way to buy a home.
59
And then I have an investment.
60
and I have a home that's worth money.
61
No, guys, because trailers are the only kind of homes that go down in value, okay?
62
If I buy a house like the house we live in, that is going to raise in value every year forever.
63
That's just the way that real estate works, guys.
64
They go up and up and up the value as long as you take care of the property.
65
Trailers go down and down and down because they're made so poorly.
66
They're made out of really bad material and that's just the sad truth guys.
67
If you buy this home it's going to be worth less every single year so it is not an investment.
68
Those are some things that maybe people don't think about.
69
Okay guys this is one of the trailer parks by where I grew up and you can see the sign right here it says the name of the park and then it says a great place to live but we're going to drive through here and you guys tell me in the comments do you think this is a great place to live we're going to drive right through here without cutting and editing the shot just show you what it looks like and guys i know this place this place has a reputation for drugs being in here and like i said the dangerous people so you could just see the state that these places are in and even the street show the street i'm where can you see how messed up the road is guys we're bumping all over the place just trying to drive in here they don't take care of it at all and you could just see the state that these mobile homes are in, guys.
70
Would you call this a nice place to live?
71
A great place to live, like it says on the sign?
72
I personally would not.
73
But hey, everybody has their own opinions.
74
Maybe to some people, this is a great place to live.
75
Look at this one.
76
You can see, guys, the side of this one is just falling off.
77
Wow.
78
come on show that little hole down there so guys that's what i was talking about when i said that the trailer sits up in there is where all of the pipes and the running water goes underneath one of these homes and that in the winter gets freezing cold under there and all of those pipes freeze solid and unless you have a heater under there which they don't tell you when you rent the place you will not have running water it will freeze your pipes will break and you'll have to pay a lot of extra money to get it fixed no windows on this one the glass is broken on this one.
79
Wow.
80
My poor pregnant wife guys, this road is so bad it's shaking us all over the place.
81
Our poor daughter's in there like, whoa what's happening?
82
That is a very old trailer.
83
It looks like the roof is coming apart on this one.
84
So I guarantee that water is leaking into that home when it rains.
85
Oh man.
86
terrible guys absolutely terrible all right now let's try and find a nice trailer park so i can show you guys that it's not all like this now guys this little neighborhood here is literally 10 seconds away from that terrible trailer park we were just in so you could see there's people living an upper middle class life right next to people who are surviving in those terrible, terrible homes.
87
And that's really something that's kind of characteristic of the United States, guys, or at least where I live.
88
You could be in a terrible, terrible place and then 10 seconds away is beautiful homes, people that are not struggling.
89
So I wonder how more if you could see.
90
Show over there.
91
That's literally where we just were, guys.
92
Right there.
93
It's right next to these beautiful homes.
94
And it's insane, guys, because people are living maybe, you know, a hundred meters away from each other.
95
I'll use meters for you guys around the world.
96
Maybe a hundred meters away from each other in two completely different realities.
97
Imagine the difference of the life between somebody living in this home and somebody living in one of those homes we just saw, guys.
98
Two entirely different worlds right next to each other.
99
And that is, wow, that's just, that is what you don't see about America on TV or the movies, that this can be right next to that hell we just saw.
100
Which one would you rather live in, camera wife?
101
Of course, yeah.
102
Me too.
103
Wow.
104
All right, guys, now this is a much, much nicer trailer park.
105
Show these ones to your right.
106
And you can see how wide these are, guys.
107
These are called double-wide trailers.
108
And what that means is they're basically two trailers put together next to each other.
109
And they are actually really big inside, guys.
110
And these newer-looking ones are actually really nice inside, too.
111
I'll see if I can find a picture to put up on the screen.
112
But you can even see these people take care of their yards.
113
They keep their houses clean.
114
they have flowers so guys this over here this really feels more like a neighborhood than a trailer park because you would feel safe walking around in here you know your kids could play not people um you know sitting outside doing drugs so this kind of area around here guys is really more older people who are retired and maybe they don't have a job anymore so they don't have a lot of money coming in so it's much cheaper for them to move here and live the rest of their life in a smaller home but still peacefully so this is actually a really good option for people who are retired or older and don't have a lot of money coming in wow some of these actually look really nice.
115
So guys you could definitely see here that even when you're talking about trailer parks they are not all the same and wow you wouldn't even feel bad living in here honestly.
116
The only problem guys is what I mentioned before and it's that stereotype so you know you say you live where do you live kyle oh i live in the trailer park over by the walmart so if someone hears that they're gonna think about you know a low-class kind of people and you know maybe i'll do a little experiment and type in trailer park people into google images later and show you guys what pops up but they're gonna assume that you're a low-class kind of person and you're gonna say no no no no it's the nice trailer park it's the really good one and you know nobody's gonna believe you but here you can see guys this is a decent place to live that one looks like a house can you show that over there That looks like just a house, guys.
117
This street, nice trees with beautiful flowers on them.
118
Just a decent place to live.
119
And for an older person who doesn't care about impressing people with their house, this is not a bad place at all.
120
So guys, the point of this video was to show you a little bit more of the American life that you won't see on TV, but also to show you that everyone who lives in a trailer park isn't low class and every trailer park isn't a terrible place where people go to find drugs and, you know, where people don't have any of their teeth and stuff like that.
121
Because that's honestly the stereotype, guys.
122
That's what people assume when they think of trailers.
123
But one of my uncles actually lives in this place and his trailer is actually a really nice home so tons of people just raising their families here or older people trying to live out the rest of their days peacefully in a safe clean place so maybe this gave you guys something to think about in these latest videos i've been trying to show you guys that my country is not what everybody thinks it is.
124
My wife was even telling me that when she came here she thought everybody lived like in that really nice neighborhood we just showed you and that's simply not the truth guys.
125
There's so many different lifestyles in this country.
126
So many people are living in different ways and it's not all beautiful but this is the truth of the United States.
127
So tell me guys in the comments if you're still watching what do you think about this does this surprise you seeing this side of the u.s and tell me if there's anything else you'd like to see all right guys we're gonna end the video here my pregnant wife is hungry i have to go to the store and get her an avocado because she said our daughter wants an avocado our daughter's still in her stomach guys but she thinks that they can talk to each other somehow my wife's not crazy you guys, she's the best.
128
All right, guys.
129
Thanks for spending your time with us.
130
Thanks for being here.
131
And I will see you in the next video.
