Hello, this is Sandra Hart and today I'm going to give you 10 mistakes that you should never make and 10 mistakes.
2
Secret tips for a better life.
3
Hello and welcome.
4
This is Sandra Hart.
5
I'm going to go ahead and get a look at the next one.
6
you Hello and welcome to Life Over 60 with Sandra.
7
So happy to see you here again with me today and welcome to all of my new subscribers.
8
I just love having you along with me and with all of us on this journey.
9
Today we're going to be talking about, wow, things never ever to do.
10
And you may have your own list.
11
So after this video is finished and in the comments section, I want you to put down maybe some extra things that you can do.
12
We...
13
As humans, we as women should never, ever do.
14
Now, the first one I'm going to start off and tell you is...
15
Don't Wish your life away.
16
And what do I mean by that?
17
Don't spend your days wishing, "Oh, I wish I could have more money.
18
Oh, I wish I could travel." Oh, I wish this COVID would go away.
19
Oh, I wish when I was younger I should have made a different decision in my life.
20
All of those things are true and all of those things we can do, and I'm sure most of us do them, but it's a waste of time.
21
Don't wish your life away.
22
If you want If you have a dream and you want to do something, Do it.
23
Act on it.
24
Don't just sit there wishing, "Oh, if I only could have,
25
if I would have, if I should have." That really is such a waste of your energy.
26
And at this stage in our lives...
27
We shouldn't be wasting energy or time at all.
28
So that's the number one thing.
29
The second thing is Don't make promises you can't fulfill.
30
Now, I know we have all done this.
31
I have done this so many times.
32
In my heart, my intentions are good, but sometimes I speak to Asuna, I say, sure, I can do that.
33
But in reality, maybe I can't, or maybe I resent doing it because I really didn't want to do it.
34
. So...
35
If you are faced with something and someone asks something of you And you say, oh, yes, you know, I can do that.
36
I promise that, you know, I will take that trip with you or I promise I will.
37
Whatever it is, you know, there's so many things we can promise in life.
38
I'll promise I'll give you that loan.
39
Don't ever do that.
40
I mean when somebody comes to you and asks you a favor or asks you to do something
41
and it's not in your wheelhouse and you're very hesitant about it, just use your gut instinct.
42
And if you have you know if you hesitate just for a minute that means don't do it do not
43
take on a responsibility or an obligation that you cannot and you don't feel like fulfilling.
44
And we do that so often, and it's so, so easy, because if you have a good heart, and you're kind, and you love people around you, you more than likely want to say yes,
45
but you really just can't.
46
And the third one is something that I've spoken about before, I think in a couple of videos ago.
47
Don't hide your love.
48
Do not just take it for granted that they know that you love them.
49
You know, just say, oh, well, I don't have to tell them.
50
You know, I do so many things with them.
51
They know that I love them.
52
Not necessarily so.
53
Everybody needs a pat on the back.
54
Everybody.
55
one needs to be wanted and loved that is just our nature, human nature, even babies.
56
that are not held and fondled and cradled, they wither away.
57
It's just a basic human need that we all have. So, don't...
58
wait till it's too late to tell those around you that you love.
59
Even your dog.
60
I tell Sophie every day and I don't know whether she knows what I'm talking about or not, but I tell...
61
My Sophie every day, I love you Sophie.
62
And she looks at me with those big eyes, you know.
63
I said, well, I hope she understands what I'm saying.
64
So don't wait.
65
to tell someone that you love them.
66
And this is one I really have to tell my husband all the time.
67
Don't hold on to bitter feelings.
68
He was in partnership with an attorney in.. in New York,
69
and it wound up this attorney did some really terrible things to all arthur
70
and his business and it really was dastardly to be honest with you But Arthur won't let go.
71
He, and this was 20 years ago, he cannot find it in his heart to forgive this man.
72
And he talks about it constantly.
73
And do you know what that's doing?
74
All that is doing is simmering and seething and eating away at him.
75
He won't let it go.
76
And he would be much happier and have a better life, even though he is almost 94.
77
But he would have a much better life.
78
If he focused it on something positive and he would let go,
79
of his partner who was not exactly honest.
80
But to this day, he still resents him.
81
And it's, you know, part of him, I think, that really is eating him away emotionally inside still.
82
And no matter how much I try to counsel him and say, you don't let it go, Arthur, let it go, he won't let it go.
83
But I want you to be able to not hold on to grudges not hold on to the Thank you.
84
bitter feelings that you have.
85
toward life toward your circumstances, toward you anything.
86
Always try to find something positive in your mind that is detached and will erase those.
87
Feelings.
88
Thank you.
89
And another thing that Number five, don't ignore your intuition.
90
How many times have we done videos?
91
I've done videos.
92
We've had conversations about, this, your intuition is so strong.
93
It really is.
94
Your first instinct about something.
95
is what you listen to because your instinct usually 99 .99 % is right and will guide you in the right direction.
96
Whenever I have ignored my intuition, Thank you.
97
I've made mistakes.
98
Thank you every single time.
99
So throughout the years, I have tried to hone my ability to really be aware when my
100
gut instinct and my intuition kicks in because then I know probably whatever it is that I'm feeling. is right.
101
So please do not ignore the that god -given intuition that you have Another thing Okay.
102
We have lived long enough to have had a lot of experiences and a lot of things in our lives.
103
We've met people, we've done things, we've had a lot of different experiences, maybe different jobs.
104
And there might be something in your life.
105
Thank you.
106
that you regret.
107
Thank you.
108
We all have regrets, but do you know what?
109
Do not hang on to them.
110
It's the same way with bitter feelings.
111
Hanging on to something in the past is not going to help you in the future at all.
112
I probably have told you about the time that...
113
Ethel Merman's manager let me practice and vocalize up in his apartment
114
because we lived in the same apartment building in New York.
115
And he came down.
116
And I suspected that he had ulterior motives for me.
117
" But he didn't, and I know he didn't because I was so young and I you know, was fearful.
118
And I regret that I didn't take on his recommendation that he would like to manage me.
119
- Thank you.
120
But I was a young girl from Ohio and I was innocent and I was scared, I guess.
121
I just was scared because I don't think, who me?
122
Does he really think I have that much talent?
123
And I didn't believe in myself.
124
So that is one of the big regrets that I have.
125
but I wouldn't have had the life that I have today.
126
I wouldn't have my children.
127
I wouldn't have had, you know, Arthur.
128
I wouldn't have had...
129
this wonderful life that I had, I would
130
be somewhere else probably out in Hollywood
131
or still singing you know 80 year old woman in some cabaret somewhere I has been so
132
don't hang on to regrets because when you do that anything
133
that you hang on to it really puts a rope around your neck
134
and keeps you from going forward and opening that door to the future.
135
So that is one that I don't.
136
I know that you really shouldn't do.
137
Then another one is, And Where you are right now, is not where you have to be for the rest of your life.
138
So don't get stuck.
139
If you are happy where you are and you are leading a full life
140
and everything is just a -okay with you, - Thank you.
141
You're really lucky.
142
But if you are in a point in your life where you don't like your job, you're unhappy with where you live,
143
you're unhappy in a relationship, you can't seem to...
144
really make a lot of friends, whatever it is, if you've lost a partner, or a spouse.
145
Whatever it is where you are right now, "Don't get stuck, please don't get stuck, "because tomorrow is another day,
146
And don't lose your hope of being able to change things.
147
Because nothing in our life is static.
148
Absolutely nothing.
149
When you look back on your life from the very beginning to where you are now, look how many different chapters you've had.
150
Look how many different circumstances and things have happened in your life that has propelled you to where you are today.
151
But if where you are today, you're really unhappy about it, don't get stuck.
152
And don't use all of that energy saying, oh, I'm so stuck.
153
I'm hopeless.
154
You know, there's nothing that's ever going to happen to me.
155
Good.
156
I'm not going to be able to do it.
157
Do you know what?
158
That's a lot of energy you're expelling.
159
Isn't it?
160
You're wasting all that energy when that stuck energy should be on something positive and sit down and make a list of
161
Things that you can do realistically things that you can do right now to change that
162
stuck place where you are in right now.
163
That energy to propel you forward instead of sucking you in and pulling you back into your misery. is not healthy.
164
So use that energy, that to make a list, do what you have to do to propel your So forward and get those wheels.
165
from spinning in the mud and get out of there.
166
if you are very happy with where you are.
167
Yes.
168
Another thing that I think is really important, and you don't have to go to school for this, But don't stop educating yourself.
169
Don't stop.
170
opening your mind to things,
171
whether it's reading more, having a more open mind about situations that are going on around you learning to a new skill,
172
learning a new language, maybe taking some online courses like purposeful gathering.
173
But, you know, expand Always keep expanding your life.
174
Keep expanding your mind and your horizon.
175
It doesn't have to be big things.
176
As I said, it could be just maybe reading a book about how to do something, reading a biography about someone else's life,
177
and that has expanded your knowledge.
178
Now, last night I had a very interesting, I watched PBS, and it was a really interesting documentary on St. Augustine here in Florida.
179
and I knew it was you know the oldest city in Florida
180
but i didn't know the history of it and it was absolutely
181
so fascinating about the indians that were here
182
and how it was a multicultural acceptance colony
183
when it came here they had people from africa
184
but they were not slaves they were free to own property and to not have to worry about being in slavery.
185
So I just, the whole story and the whole history of St. Augustine was
186
so interesting and something that I learned that was new.
187
So be open.
188
to all avenues of expression, art, theater.
189
Now with the internet, we can just go online and we can listen to podcasts.
190
We have everything at our fingertips, so there's no excuse to not broaden and educate your mind.
191
Another thing that I think is really important And I guess, you know, I talked about this a lot, so you may be tired of hearing me say it, but...
192
Don't lose your individuality.
193
Don't be a part of the herd.
194
When we are born, We all have different genetics, different genomes, and different mixes,
195
even if we have part of the same DNA as our parents and our cousins and our siblings.
196
We are unique.
197
There is no one...
198
in the universe who is like us.
199
So embrace your your individuality.
200
Embrace your imperfections.
201
None of us have perfect bodies, faces, minds, living situations, lives, none of us have those things that are perfect.
202
But Embrace your uniqueness.
203
It really is so important to your happiness because Everyone else has taken, as I said before.
204
There's no one like you.
205
So why not love you and embrace yourself? everything about you
206
because you are so special and unique
207
and don't ever ever ever let anyone else tell you all
208
that you are less than one wonderful and your own unique self.
209
And number 10, this is for parents out there, including me.
210
This is for all of us that have had children
211
and raised children and children sent them on the way out of the nest.
212
Thank you.
213
Always be supportive of your children.
214
But don't ever, ever, ever Expect them.
215
to give back to you.
216
what you gave to them.
217
Those are our expectations that we should not impose upon our children.
218
and the We expect them to do something with their lives.
219
That's different.
220
But don't expect them to pay us back.
221
for what we have done for them.
222
because if we lose those expectations and we untie that not, you know, that attaches us to them and say,
223
oh, you know, I did this for you and you owe me.
224
Why aren't you doing this for me?
225
Whenever you...
226
and your children don't feel that burden of expectation on their shoulders.
227
You know what?
228
It makes them want to do more for you.
229
That's just human nature.
230
If someone You know you love cakes and maybe sweets or whatever, potato chips, and you're a little overweight.
231
And your husband or partner or somebody said, don't eat that.
232
You're getting fat.
233
Oh, you better not eat that.
234
You're getting fat.
235
What do you do?
236
You stuff it in faster.
237
- Thank you because that burden of criticism and expectations of who you should be.
238
is thrown back at you. But
239
If nobody monitors what you eat and what you say and you are your own
240
in charge of your own life and what you eat
241
You can look in the mirror and get on the scale and say, you know what, I'm about 10 pounds heavier.
242
I'd better kind of drop those pounds and I have to watch what I eat.
243
And you're willing to do it because it was your choice.
244
When your children have...
245
a choice.
246
of theirs to give back to you.
247
It's a very beautiful thing, and it usually happens If you do not Expect.
248
anything back.
249
from your children.
250
You have raised them with love, and only want happiness for them.
251
Thank you.
252
So, those are my 10 tips of putting burdens that we put on ourselves,
253
things that we shouldn't do if we want to live a full and free life life.
254
So So if you have some suggestions of your own that you want to put in the comment, I really would love to read them.
255
And I want to say I your comments.
256
are so heartfelt and open and honest that it just absolutely touches me to the core.
257
I just want to tell you that I am
258
so grateful for each and every one of you that are coming along with me.
259
and the rest of this community on our journey to find the very best life After 40 years.
260
50 60 and beyond.
261
Thank you again.
262
And today you deserve to do something really wonderful for yourself.
263
And as I said in one of my points, Don't forget to Share your love with someone today.
264
that you really care about.
265
And of course, Share the love. with everyone.
266
Thank you.
267
And I'm also on Instagram and I'd love to have you join me on Instagram as Sandra's heart.
268
I'll put the link below because we have a lot of fun on Instagram too.
269

关于本课
您正在使用跟读技巧通过视频"Mistakes To NEVER Make | My Advice At 83 | Life Over 60"练习英语口语和发音。
