1
Never in many years would I have thought that this would happen.
2
To be nominated for a Grammy, it means a lot that APT is the one that is being celebrated so much.
3
I'm really, really grateful and a bit like, shook.
4
I don't even know what to say.
5
We were radio people.
6
My dad would have the radio on all the time and because Australia, like LA, everything's far away, like everything's 30 minutes away, so we'd always have the radio on.
7
And so I grew up listening to all of that.
8
Britney Spears was on the radio all the time.
9
I think Madonna was on the radio.
10
I think I was definitely influenced by a lot of pop.
11
I love pop music.
12
When I grew up, YouTube was where I started to listen and watch all these musicians.
13
And naturally, the very beginning of me like starting to sing and play instruments was after I watched Dreamgirls.
14
I remember watching Beyonce sing like, listen and being like, oh my god, I really want to be able to sing that.
15
And I printed it on like the chords on paper
16
and I would like play it and sing at the top of my lungs.
17
Simultaneously my sister, because we are Korean, she was very interested in our culture.
18
She had been you know consuming a lot of Korean music and musicians and and that's when K-pop was around as well.
19
That's how I got to absorb that.
20
Seeing it all just was a mixture of things as I am and as I have always been.
21
In this day and age, I feel like social media
22
and all these platforms has given everyone such a good opportunity to fulfill so much of their dreams.
23
And I'm, you know, a result of that.
24
And I'm really, really grateful.
25
History of first Korean K-pop artist, that means a lot to me because growing up, there wasn't many people like me.
26
I was the minority and especially on television and in the music industry.
27
And so I remember even then I was like, I want to do music, obviously.
28
Somewhere in me said I want to do music, but I didn't even know that was like a possibility.
29
Yes, my dad encouraged me to take an audition for this K-pop group and I did, and that's what led me here.
30
What do you think about your own songs?
31
I think as I started to prepare my solo album on my own, away from the group also,
32
it was a lot of challenges and a lot of things that I was determined to learn about,
33
things that I was never really curious about before question of what do you want to do?
34
What makes you happy even?
35
And I had been in a studio for the first time
36
and been a part of the creation of a song and felt like that really fulfilled me more than anything else.
37
To really focus on that core feeling and then build on that.
38
It was a good opportunity for me to kind of meet new people
39
in this industry in which I was also very privileged and grateful to be able to meet so many people.
40
And I'm really glad that I took my time
41
and I had enough people around me to suggest for me to slow down.
42
Yes, that is very different to, I think, how I was brought up.
43
And again, that was its own privilege.
44
I got to focus on music and my craft,
45
whereas this instance, I had to learn about the details of my job whilst learning about everything else.
46
And it was a lot to learn in a year and it was a bit overwhelming, but I'm so grateful that it happened.
47
Amy was in the first session that I was a part of,
48
and it was really organic because I was in a studio and I had gone through something really interesting the night before,
49
and I walked in really, really anxious.
50
Cause I was like, by the way, guys, I've never been a part of a proper session like this before.
51
You know, I really wanna learn about this.
52
We started talking and they were like, anything dramatic happened to you?
53
And I was like, oh, actually, But this has nothing to do with like, it was not even like about like a relationship or anything.
54
So I was like, I don't think it's really interesting.
55
And they were like, no, just talk about like, what's up?
56
And then I was like, oh, I've been going through this thing.
57
And I was like crying all night.
58
And I was really, really frustrated.
59
And I started talking and I remember I just started crying.
60
And I got really vulnerable.
61
And they were all like, oh my God, Rosie, I'm so sorry you're going through this.
62
I remember Amy was like, we should write a song about this.
63
And that was the first day I believed that anything could be made into a beautiful song,
64
as long as it's like real emotions and real stories and you've got good intentions and whatnot.
65
And so that day proved to me that studio means vulnerability.
66
It means honesty.
67
She's been great.
68
And we've had so many sessions where we would just talk about life and we've been each other's like therapists.
69
Because coming off the album, I was still so inspired.
70
I remember, like, I was like, one more.
71
Can I just keep going?
72
Can you, like, don't stop me?
73
I'm, like, so excited.
74
And near the end of it, I made a few things that I've also, like, saved because I love them so much for the next chapter.
75
I feel like nothing is, like, as you plan it to be.
76
And I think I was in the studio for a bit.
77
Right now, I've been realizing that I need to live as well my life
78
because my first album came from living a full life of 27 years.
79
And so, you know, in order to be inspired to write anything else, I've noticed I just need to take my time and breathe a bit.
80
And as I say that, I think I have a session, like a few sessions planned this week, but I am curious.
81
So I will go in and then, you know, if the universe says not yet, then okay.
82
But then if they say I'm ready, then amazing.
83
So it's always like, I think I always just have to pray and see what happens, but don't be too disappointed when, if it's not time yet.
84
I think being away did inspire me in so many different ways, just creatively and musically.
85
And I think I was really curious and excited to see how that would play a part with the group.
86
And also I was excited to see what the other members have brought.
87
It has been really fun and I'm really, really happy with how, you know, Jump.
88
I remember that video shoot was so much fun as well and different.
89
And I feel like at this point, it's just nice to kind of experiment
90
new things with the girls and the group and to learn not to be afraid to try new things.
91
The girl power?
92
Oh, that feels amazing.
93
I mean, I'm all for it.
94
It's a big celebration.
95
I love it and I feel like we're all very comfortable.
96
Nothing feels weird or forced and I feel really welcomed
97
and I feel like a lot has changed in the past few years.
98
I'm really, really grateful for everything and how the internet has brought people together and how everybody's celebrating each other.
99
I met Bruno, oh my god, the best friend I could ask for in so many ways.
100
He's just been a really good mentor to me and a really good friend.
101
He guides me in a lot of things.
102
At the beginning, he really helped me like inspire me uh not just even with apt
103
but like with the album i had little questions and things
104
that i couldn't figure out and i remember he would just like throw these small things
105
and it would like help he was like a big cheerleader
106
for me on the side at one point at a very crucial moment
107
because i think we like met around like july ish to start working on apt
108
and so it was like a very at a very important moment
109
when i was wrapping everything up and So he was a good sounding board, just a really good friend to chat to.
110
I had the biggest fight with Bruto right before the music video shoot.
111
But we made up on set, so it was all right.
112
I don't think he even remembers.
113
He's like, what did we fight about?
114
I'm like, you don't remember.
115
He wasn't anything really serious.
116
Because we've been preparing everything, like, you know, concepts from day one.
117
He had such a vision for everything.
118
And at first it was really hard to understand.
119
He would be inspired by a lot of things that I had done in the past.
120
And I would ask him so many questions and he'd send me so many videos and he'd be like, Rosie, this is it.
121
And I think as he was sharing, it would like the shape would, you know, kind of like it would form.
122
And so there was just like a lot of communication and sometimes like I'd be annoyed
123
because some things aren't just they're not solid I think they were just like being created along the way
124
and so like any sibling you know there's like a moment you're like oh my god you're so annoyed
125
it happened yeah but then we met and then we're very professional
126
and oh my god it was the best day of my life.
127
It was so much fun.
128
So if you watch the video, it's like, it looks fun, right?
129
I'm not joking.
130
I was laughing the whole day.
131
I think I was like, I'm going to get abs.
132
If I'm smiling in any scene, I'm actually laughing the whole time.
133
I'm like, you know, it was really funny.
134
It's like a funny day.
135
The hair, the question was asked about the hair.
136
All these ideas were like really created very specifically and detailed along the way.
137
And amongst so many conversations was, you know, he captured a picture on my Instagram.
138
I had bought a curling iron and I just started to like curl my own hair.
139
And I remember posting a selfie with that.
140
And he was like, see Rosie, this is like, this seems like the girl.
141
This is like a cool look.
142
And at first it was like, it's just a selfie.
143
Like this is where you're getting inspiration from?
144
That's so random.
145
I just wanted to get into his brain.
146
I wanted to know what his vision was as well.
147
I'm just like drawn to it.
148
Are you ready?
149
I knew that the live stream was coming up.
150
Like I was out with friends that night and then I came home and then I like washed up I was like, I'm so excited to sleep.
151
And I go in my PJs and then I look at the time.
152
I was like, that's 10 minutes from now.
153
My sister called, like FaceTimes me.
154
And I'm like, oh my God, and she's like, it's happening.
155
And then everything just happened in like five minutes.
156
And then I really thought about it and thought, if I didn't watch that, I would have missed a very big moment in my life.
157
Then I slept.
158
And when I woke up, I had like a ton of texts on my phone.
159
And I think that's when it really hit.
160
I felt like my birthday and then I got on a plane and I'm here.
161
So I'm still processing everything.
162
Would I have thought that this would happen to be nominated for a Grammy?
163
But I think most importantly, I feel like the song that is being celebrated
164
and being nominated for the Grammy contains so much of my culture in it.
165
It proves to me also that culture is loved.
166
Different cultures is being accepted, regardless of ages, different backgrounds and cultures.
167
Everyone has been enjoying it so much and I've been watching that and it's really just blown my mind away.
168
And so it means so much to myself, my younger self who grew up feeling like that would not be a possibility.
169
Thank you.
- 被动语态 - “to be nominated for a Grammy”展示了被动语态在描述事件时的使用。
- 过去完成时 - “I had gone through something really interesting”强调了在过去某个时间点之前所经历的事情。
- 条件句 - “if I want to do music”展示了如何表达希望和条件之间的关系。
