Now I'd like to look at the intonation for each sentence in the connected reading passage about a photo

that I'm proud of.

Let's take a look.

I'm proud of a lot of photos I've taken.

I'm proud, proud, so proud is the main point here.

It's the main answer to the question, so we kind of stress it.

Proud of a lot of photos, of a lot of photos, so we stress lot here.

I'm proud of a lot of photos.

And so because we've raised the voice on proud and stressed lot, we reduce of a in the middle.

Of a lot of photos I've taken, go up on a comma, I've taken, taken.

But I think one photo of myself that I'm proud of, now here I'm stressing myself, myself that I'm proud of.

And why am I stressing myself?

Because I'm contrasting photos I've taken with photos of myself.

One photo of myself that I'm proud of, that I'm proud of, that I'm proud of, kind of rising again after we've gone down on self,

that I'm proud of, is when I was running a race in high school.

Running a race in high school.

Running a race.

Running is the activity that I was doing during the photo, so it's very important information.

Running a race.

And so running a race is all stressed and all spoken with a little bit of a high tone.

Running a race in high school.

High school.

The word high school is a two-word compound noun, and the first word of that compound noun is spoken with a higher tone.

High school.

I have a really intense expression.

Really intense expression.

These are three stress points here.

Really intense expression on my face in the photo.

Face in the photo.

So these two words here, face in the photo, are also kind of stressed,

but I'm not going down as far when I say photo because it's a comma.

There's a comma right after photo.

So I need to stay up with my voice so that the listener knows I'm not done with my sentence.

On my face in the photo, photo, photo, photo, so you can tell I was giving it my best effort.

So you can, so you can, these words are kind of run together.

So you can tell I was giving it my best effort giving it my best effort.

Best effort.

We rise on best so that we can fall down again with the stress on effort.

So you can tell I was giving it my best effort.

In the background, in the background, so we're rising from in the to go to background because we rise on background because it's a comma.

There's a comma right there.

In the background, you can see the clock showing the time of the race.

The clock showing the time of the race.

Clock, time, race.

Race, race.

And we're stressing race a little bit because, again, it's an important word in the sentence, clock, time, race.

But we can't fall all the way down.

We can't say clock, showing the time of the race, right?

We can't stop the sentence there.

We have to keep going, showing the time of the race, which makes it a great record, which makes it a, which makes it a, which makes it a, down,

and then kind of even tone, which makes it a great record, Great record of how fast I ran too.

Now we're stressing the key words here at the end here.

Great record, how fast I ran too.

So it's not only a good photo of me, but it's also a record too.

I'm proud of a lot of photos I've taken, but I think one photo of myself that I'm proud of is when I was running a race in high school.

I have a really intense expression on my face in the photo, so you can tell I was giving it my best effort.

In the background, you can see the clock showing the time of the race, which makes it a great record of how fast I ran too.
