1
I mean, how fun, y'all.
2
I'm picking up my first Azure Standard haul
3
and going to show you what I bought and why it's better than what you can get at the grocery store.
4
I seriously wish I had not put this off so long now.
5
All right, this is all I got from my Azure Standard,
6
the first order I've ever made.
7
I actually really enjoyed that process.
8
The kids loved it.
9
My son wanted to go pick up more
10
so I think we'll get there early next time
11
so he can enjoy it yeah such a fun process
12
and you feel a little bit more connected to your food like getting it out of the truck
13
but I want to talk to you a little bit about why I did Azure
14
and why each of these products I've most of them I put a lot of thought behind kind of
15
when I went into it
16
because the website can be a little overwhelming I kind of said you know what do I buy at Costco
17
because we go there often and buy in bulk
18
and we're what am I not just really happy about out
19
one of the big reasons I wanted to do this is
20
because
21
when I go to the grocery store like even like a Whole Foods the whole wheat flour there's really not
22
that much to choose from and it's pretty expensive like I don't even know the berries
23
that go or the actual wheat berries that go into it
24
so I'm just that's really what brought me here
25
and the milk I was very curious to try this Alexandra
26
milk the vat it's a vat what do you call it vat pasteurized
27
so that's really what brought me here but I found a lot of other good things that I can't wait to explore.
28
I thought I'd just walk you through why I chose to go for this product.
29
Sometimes it's price, sometimes it's quality,
30
but I will say I don't think it's like significantly cheaper
31
because you do have to pay for shipping so
32
that comes into it but I do think you're getting better quality with a lot of products.
33
The first thing I'm excited about is I finally got a Nutramil over here.
34
I'm so excited to start using that but I didn't know it came back.
35
I didn't buy it before I did this order.
36
So that's one of the downsides is you kind of have to like,
37
there's a drop dead date.
38
And then it was, I think almost like a week
39
and a half to two weeks until I actually went and picked it up today.
40
So you just kind of have a plan ahead,
41
but I'm definitely going to order my whole,
42
you know, wheat from there and grind it myself from now on.
43
I don't really know where else to get it from.
44
So, but now I have some pre-grinded whole wheat flour.
45
I got whole red wheat.
46
I got a 10 pound bag of that.
47
I think this was $14, which is a good deal for whole wheat flour.
48
This is way better.
49
It's probably similar to what I'm getting at Whole Foods,
50
but I think I get a five pound bag for like $13.
51
So this is nearly half off buying it here.
52
I got also whole white,
53
actually, you know, whole white wheat might be what I'm more buying at Whole Foods
54
and this is a similar price a little bit less
55
but this I'll tell you a little bit difference about them if you don't if you don't know.
56
Whole White Wheat is a little bit softer lighter sweeter.
57
It's really good to use in more like pastries, pancakes, cookies.
58
That's what I'm planning to use this in kind of probably
59
what we're already buying at Whole Foods for a Whole Wheat flour but I'm curious to find out the difference.
60
And then Whole Red Wheat is a little bit more robust
61
nutty flavor that's more better for breads you know bagels any
62
sort of like you know heartier bread this is what I'm going to use this in
63
and we do go through a lot of bread
64
so I go through more bread than I do this stuff
65
so I think it's actually good this is cheaper this was yeah I think only like 10
66
or 13 dollars for this large 10 pound bag so those are my flowers I got
67
I can't wait for these I we love egg noodles
68
and these look like legitimate like
69
when you go to a real old school German restaurant how they look
70
so I can't wait to do some like chicken
71
and noodles with these gonna be so good I'm curious to see how
72
that turns out I got some coffee this is I think
73
pretty much one of their brands it's supposed to have none of the mold in it
74
which you can buy a lot of places now
75
but it seems like most places you have to buy it from like an online shop so
76
it's nice to buy it from like a central place where I'm already getting other things.
77
I'm curious to see how this impacts us and whether
78
that has a difference on how coffee does
79
because I am a little bit more sensitive to coffee even though I really love it.
80
This is not cheap though.
81
I think this was about $20 for this normal bag
82
but we don't drink that much of it anymore so hopefully quality is worth it.
83
Another thing that drawn me to this is the chocolate chips.
84
so chocolate chips you really have to do your research on
85
these um not every chocolate chip is made the same
86
and you can tell
87
that usually by price i feel like there's a very similar
88
one whole foods this is smaller than i thought it was i'm not gonna lie
89
so but we don't use them that much and my kids love them
90
so i think it's worth it
91
but this is just cocoa mass cane sugar sugar cocoa powder and cocoa butter so basic ingredients.
92
If you read a lot of the labels,
93
it's not going to have that.
94
It's going to have a lot higher sugar content.
95
Sometimes it has some filler stuff in there.
96
So just beware.
97
I think they even had like a cane sugar,
98
not cane sugar, a coconut sugar version on here if that's something you're interested in this is the chocolate chips bittersweet.
99
I got these fruit bites.
100
It comes with mango, coconut.
101
I just thought they'd be,
102
I don't know, I found them like,
103
oh we love some dried fruit.
104
Looks like good for a snack for me and the kids,
105
so I can't wait to see what these taste like.
106
And I got some oats.
107
Yes, they're great.
108
This is a big bag of oats.
109
I think more than I get at Costco.
110
let me check the price okay I didn't write down the price
111
but I wrote down significantly cheaper so I think this is maybe the thing
112
that surprised me the most
113
when it come to price I usually buy these at Costco I think for like $15
114
and it's not this bag of a bag
115
but I think this was below 10
116
if I'm not mistaken I got these to go in granola you know make oatmeal with
117
and I also got these rye flakes which were also really cheap
118
and they have also their own benefits compared to oats it's very similar in texture
119
and also something great to fill like meatloafs with or anything
120
that needs breadcrumbs this sort of this goes really good in
121
so and a little bit more nutrition
122
and then i don't have to worry about always making my own breadcrumbs i don't mind doing it
123
but it takes a lot of effort to make bread
124
and then takes a little bit effort to turn them into breadcrumbs
125
so I look forward to kind of going to this in
126
the future all right the next thing I'm super excited about is this milk as I said
127
so I usually go to Walmart that's the cheapest place I
128
can find the grass-fed milk I usually it for about seven
129
dollars this was a little under nine for you know I
130
don't think 1.5 quarts I don't think that's quite the same
131
amount I don't check okay they're not the same this is 48 ounces
132
and this is 59 ounces
133
so i guess this is definitely more expensive what really drew me to this is you can get alexandra farms
134
and maybe whole foods or some others
135
but it is the ultra processed not ultra pasteurized kind this is the vat pasteurized
136
which i cannot find anywhere near me the difference is vat pasteurized it heats it to a lower temperature
137
it takes them about 30 minutes they do this over ultra
138
pasteurized they're going to heat it to a higher temp in like a matter of two minutes
139
and then it goes into these and it's done
140
so obviously this takes longer probably also as part of the
141
cost the difference is this pretty much kills everything in it
142
so you're not going to get anything bad
143
but you're also not getting any of the good benefits
144
that come from milk of the cow right
145
so you're killing off some of the proteins and enzymes all of them here we're here
146
you're maintaining some of them while killing the pathogen.
147
So it's kind of like in the middle of the raw versus ultra-pasteurized debate,
148
which I would love to drink raw milk and bring it into our family now that,
149
you know, I don't have super young kids and try it,
150
but I just, it's not practical because there's not a farm near us.
151
It's like an hour away is the only like sharing farm I can get a part of,
152
unfortunately, but hopefully that'll change one day.
153
I am going to do a taste test between these
154
because I can't wait to see if I can actually tell the difference in how these taste.
155
So I got grass-fed and one they call not grass-fed.
156
From what I read online,
157
both are very much grass-fed.
158
Just during some of the late winter months,
159
some of the cows are taken inside to preserve their pastures while some remain outside.
160
I think that's what I understood it to be.
161
So very much grass-fed, usually a little bit cheaper,
162
but when I went to buy this,
163
they were both the same price,
164
so I went more with this,
165
but I just kind of wanted to compare.
166
The difference you will see between these is they won't put like a number of milk fat.
167
He'll just say six percent milk fat so you know you're getting a certain amount of fat in the milk here.
168
It's just going to kind of fluctuate because the cows are completely grass-fed
169
so obviously
170
if it's more winter time it's going to be a little
171
bit harder to get a higher milk just kind of like eggs producing.
172
They are natural animals not machines so that's the only downside of this.
173
You might get a little bit lower fat but that's not really
174
that big of a deal you can go online
175
and see what you know this batch of fat was I will say I was a little worried
176
because online they say
177
that it can go bad before it gets to you this one I have a solid like 15 days
178
so I'm not really worried about drinking this I got the
179
cream revy with cream this you know I got two of these I almost wish I would have got more
180
but this is the only one of the very few whipped creams that doesn't contain what is it
181
this is what i get at the grocery store usually and all of these will always contain gelatin gum.
182
They say it's safe for you, but can it be?
183
And, you know, like probably okay in small doses and fine.
184
But I'm always like, this is ingredients, 100% organic cream.
185
So that's the big difference you're buying here.
186
And is this fat pasteurized?
187
I'm not even sure how they pasteurize this one.
188
I didn't look into that.
189
You can freeze these.
190
so that's why
191
if it was going to be close to the date this
192
one's a little close to the date I might use these
193
and maybe freeze these you can freeze them it's fine directly
194
in the bottle put them in the freezer they do turn a little yellow
195
and you can read about this on the azure standard website under this product
196
but you know you take it out it'll taste just as good I'm
197
so excited for these I'm going to make some ice cream
198
out of this soon I just made some strawberry jam and it's going to delicious in there.
199
I just looked it up.
200
This is vat pasteurized and a higher milk fat too than most grocery stores and usually around 35 to 36.
201
This is 40%.
202
So I also wanted to maybe try this with some sour cream.
203
My homemade sour cream hasn't really turned out that good
204
and I've read it might be because of the fat content
205
and this was around $7 where a whole food similar that is still pasteurized, ultra pasteurized was $10.
206
So I actually think this is a good deal.
207
I'm going to buy more of it next time
208
and I've got not that long to use it so I want to freeze one of those.
209
I also got some queso from this brand that's really good just craving some queso.
210
I love queso.
211
Don't know if it's healthy but when I'm eating queso I'm not really expecting it to be healthy either.
212
Got this sour cream.
213
We got two of these sour creams.
214
The Nancy probiotic sour cream.
215
It was a little over four dollars because it was on sale.
216
I think 20% off so a pretty good deal.
217
I think this is more than five dollars at Whole Foods
218
when I get it there
219
and you know we eat this all the time like my
220
kids love sour cream I love sour cream I love like
221
a French onion dip with some vegetables you know Mexican food you know I this goes in our ranch
222
that I love to make and go on salads
223
so could easily have bought more of that
224
but kind of wanted to keep the price to a certain amount
225
which I spent a lot on butter we go through a
226
lot of butter family loves butter baking you know I just use butter a lot
227
because I don't use oils
228
so this actually butter can be a tricky one I would recommend you really looking into your butter
229
and what butter you're using maybe not the butter you think you're using is actually
230
that good we usually you get the Kerrygold from Costco I
231
think is like a three-pack same size for $16 this worked out to be about the same price I remember
232
but of course in bulk it kind of hurts
233
when you see it together I'm going to I think I
234
got plenty of time on this yeah June I don't even know
235
if I'll freeze it because I think we'll actually go through it all no problem
236
but first thing about butter Karagold is actually good
237
because it doesn't contain there's some sort of acid I'll look
238
it up I can't remember off the top of my head
239
but often brands claiming to be like creamy or good they all
240
if they have this acid in them then they're skipping some of the culture steps to get it
241
you know faster and you should avoid that this does not use
242
that and I use Oasis now I used to use yucca
243
but I've actually found Oasis is
244
so much better for going from good to great quality products
245
yucca would kind of tell you it's got any additives but
246
when you're looking at something like butter it's like butter
247
so they're not gonna say it's got an additive in it
248
but they're not all created equal this is organic mostly pasture fed
249
which Caregold is not organic
250
and they're a little questionable on how much their cows are actually grass-fed
251
so this seemed like the best and it was around the same price
252
but this is higher in fact than what you'll see in most grocery store even like Kerrygold.
253
Kerrygold now uses I think a skimmed milk powder
254
which I don't know why it's not really a bad thing for you
255
but it's not as good of a product like this is pure butter,
256
organic, mostly grass pasture raised.
257
So I think about one of the best I can get and I'm not paying that much more for it,
258
especially buying it in bulk.
259
And I got some sourdough.
260
I love this pasta.
261
It was a little bit cheaper to buy it in bulk here than I usually get it.
262
My kids love pasta.
263
We love pasta.
264
You know, hopefully one day I can start making it,
265
especially now that I have like whole wheat flour.
266
That would be great, but this is a nice backup.
267
I got some chips.
268
I just love these chips.
269
It's a nice snack.
270
They're a pretty good deal,
271
and I like that it's like a good deal with a smaller bag because we don't eat them all the time.
272
I got some oranges.
273
I just wanted to try out what the fruit was like.
274
They look pretty good.
275
I'll have to taste them to see what I think,
276
but price difference wasn't really that different than what I normally buy a big bag of oranges for,
277
but just wanted to give it a shot.
278
I do need to look more in the like produce.
279
They didn't have much meat, unfortunately.
280
I was a little disappointed.
281
And the last thing I think here is cheese.
282
They have so many good cheese options.
283
So many raw cheeses that I'm going to try next time.
284
But this time I just kind of went with you know this brand same as the butter.
285
It was really good.
286
Some cheddar cheese.
287
Some mozzarella organic.
288
You know 100% grass-fed mozzarella to go in our pizzas.
289
And a classic Jack.
290
My my oldest son loves this 100% grass-fed hard to find at the grocery store this is cheaper here
291
and so many good raw milk options i mean raw cheese options
292
that i want to get and it's just
293
so hard to find grass-fed cheese
294
and you know the only bad thing i think about these
295
is i'm still you see all over now about pfizer using
296
you know how they make cheese is not really the way you should be making cheese.
297
I don't really know the details of it,
298
but I really want to try to start making our own cheese soon.
299
That's something I've got because my youngest son really loves cheese,
300
eats so much of it,
301
and I'm a little concerned about the things they're using,
302
the enzymes to turn it into cheese.
303
They're not using a natural one, so I don't know.
304
I have to do a little bit more research on that.
305
I don't know a good app for that yet because these just say enzymes,
306
so you have no clue besides going into each individual brand.
307
What a most...
308
Oh!
309
How could I forget?
310
Two things I buy at Costco all the time, maple syrup and honey.
311
The reviews on this maple syrup are great.
312
The price was about the same.
313
I don't think it's the same amount of like fluid ounces,
314
but when I did like the average,
315
it worked out to be the same organic you know grade a dark super good I don't know
316
if it's going to taste that much different
317
but I'm looking forward to trying that
318
and honey this one's I think worked out to be around
319
the same price as what I buy from Costco it's not local
320
but it is raw it is organic
321
which it's really hard to have certified organic honey in the US apparently
322
because it's hard to find places to culture the bees away
323
from any like vast you know agriculture that's going on
324
so they get this from somewhere in South America probably somewhere
325
in the forest right where it's away from agricultural you know use
326
and can certify it organic so I'm excited about this also love
327
that it comes in a jar can reuse the jar for other things I'm really excited for
328
that and see how that tastes we all love honey I think my first thing I'm going to make is some
329
sourdough discard chocolate chip cookies.
330
I think I'm pretty much going to use everything here,
331
the butter, the chocolate chips, the honey.
332
I'm going to use the whole white wheat.
333
I can't wait.
334
And a little bit of milk too as well.
335
I'm going to do a little taste test on these two to see
336
if I can taste the difference between this and my normal milk.
337
All right, I'm not hungry at all,
338
but I'm gonna do this anyways just a little taste test between the two let's see if I can tell
339
mark the bottom
340
of each
341
glass you
342
can definitely tell one looks more creamy I don't know
343
if you can see it but one's more of a clear white
344
and the Alexandra looks a little bit more like creamy interesting I didn't expect
345
that so the visual might be a little hard let's just close my eyes forget which one's which
346
that's different yeah this is the horizon yeah
347
it almost tastes like cream
348
but not thick that's exactly what it tastes like it's just like creamer
349
but just not as thick not as sweet this tastes like normal milk clearer still got a nice sweet flavor
350
but it doesn't have that creamy taste to it at all um actually kind of shocked and you know
351
like the health benefits of these.
352
I wonder what raw would taste like, right?
353
That's delicious.
354
My son's going to love that for his bottle I'm about to make him,
355
but, um, or his sippy cup.
356
I know no more bottles.
357
He's too old.
358
I hope you enjoyed that.
359
I hope that was something helpful.
360
I'm really excited for this and about buying more from them.
361
All right.
362
I'll see you in the next one.
363
Thanks for joining.
