2
Hi, it's Robin Sharma.
3
I hope you are amazing.
4
This video is going to be tremendously helpful to you if you are interested in increasing four areas of your life.
5
Number one, your creativity.
6
Number two, your productivity.
7
Number three, your prosperity.
8
And number four, your impact on humanity.
9
So I wanted to give you some specific insights on the value of rising before the sun and joining the 5am club,
10
which is a concept I've been teaching to my billionaire clients
11
and CEO clients and executives at companies like Starbucks and FedEx
12
and IBM and Nike and other organizations
13
that I've worked with for over the past two decades with tremendous success in terms of helping them increase their focus, their energy, their productivity, and their performance.
14
So there's a reason why the visionary founder of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, rises before the sun.
15
There's a reason why Michelle Obama rises very early there's a
16
reason why Tim Cook who's leading Apple gets up before the dawn.
17
First of all the hours between 4 and 6 are the time of least distraction in this age of dramatic interruption.
18
Number two the hours before the Sun rises is the period where your brain is most available to your primary creativity.
19
So while you're sleeping your brain actually washes itself
20
but also it lets them go of the residue of the previous day while you are resting and while you are recovering.
21
When you wake up your thinking is fresh, your creativity is most pristine,
22
you are most available to access your gifts and your talents.
23
So those are some of the reasons why I encourage you to get up early.
24
You might and say, Robin, well I'm not an early riser.
25
I can't put mine over mattress.
26
I can't win the battle of the bed.
27
Grandma never got up early.
28
Dad couldn't get up early.
29
I guess I'm not the kind of person who can rise before the sun.
30
And what I would suggest to you is simply this.
31
What science confirms, in particular the data of University College London, you do any new habit,
32
practice it for 66 days and you will arrive at the place of automaticity.
33
In other words, it will be easier to run the new habit than not to.
34
66 days of rising at 5 a.m will get you to
35
a place where it's easier to get up at 5 a.m than not to get up at 5 a.m.
36
You'll reach a place of automaticity.
37
In my book, The 5 A.M.
38
Club, I say, all change is hard at first, and it's messy in the middle, and it's gorgeous at the end.
39
I'll repeat that again because it's so important.
40
All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and it's gorgeous at the end.
41
In the book there's a chapter on the habit installation process
42
that actually explains the three phases every habit goes through before you wire it into the place where it's automatic.
43
Number one, destruction.
44
Number two, integration.
45
And number three, implementation.
46
Really important to remember that.
47
So you can get up early.
48
You can install habits.
49
Just as a matter of fact, neuroplasticity, which is the phenomenon that speaks to the fact the brain is like a muscle.
50
The more you flex it and push it, the more it's going to grow.
51
You have that gift.
52
It's not just for Federer and Serena Williams and Oprah Winfrey
53
and Shakespeare and Joe Michelle Basquiat and Steve Jobs and Elon Musk.
54
You have a brain that has the capability to grow and adapt.
55
Ideas don't work for people unwilling to do the work.
56
And part-time, this is another idea from the 5am club, part-time commitment leads to part-time results.
57
Okay, so once you're up at 5am, you've practiced it for 66 days, you've gone through the difficulty at the beginning, and then the messiness in the middle,
58
and now you've installed it towards the end of the 66-day protocol.
59
Then what do you do during this process between 5 and 6?
60
Well, I call it the victory hour.
61
I go into great depth into exactly what to do in the 5 a.m club, but for now, very high level,
62
the 20-20-20 formula basically tells you exactly what to do from 5 to 6.
63
And this is your period of preparation.
64
The Spartan warriors said it well.
65
Sweat more in training and you'll bleed less in war.
66
Well, business right now and the world right now, it's sort of a war.
67
There's so much distraction.
68
There's so many seductions.
69
There's so much competition there's a lot of complexity.
70
So from five to six is really when you sweat more in training.
71
It's your training period where you protect what I call the four interior empires.
72
Your mindset, your heart set, your health set, and your soul set.
73
Everyone's talking about mindset these days.
74
I think that's only 25% of the personal mastery and elite performance equation.
75
Why?
76
Because your mindset is your psychology.
77
Of course, your psychology is important.
78
But a great psychology with a toxic emotionality, in other words, if your heart's at, your heart is full of unprocessed through pain of the past,
79
or if you're angry, or if you haven't forgiven the people who have hurt you, or if you're full of resentment, disappointment, well then you're gonna sabotage your psychology.
80
And that's why a lot of books don't work and a lot of training doesn't work.
81
The teacher is talking only about mindset without working on the emotional part of the human being.
82
But it's not just mindset and heartset.
83
And again, I go into great depth into this in the book.
84
But it's not just mindset and heartset.
85
It's also your healthset.
86
I mean, if you don't have energy, if you don't have vitality, if you don't have stamina, you're not going to win.
87
And then it's also the fourth interior empire, your soul set.
88
Soul set, you might say, well, it's not relevant to me.
89
I'm not a religious person.
90
Well, soul set has nothing to do with religion.
91
Soul set is all about building fluency and intimacy with your true wisdom
92
and the hero within you and the primal genius that lurks at your core.
93
You see, we all have an ego side, and that's just our scared and secure self.
94
And then we have a heroic nature.
95
Yes, you do.
96
Right in you right now.
97
You might not know it, you might not have a strong relationship with it, but it's there with you.
98
And that's what SoulSat's about.
99
It's about building that relationship with your highest nature.
100
And the relationship with your highest nature sets up the relationship with your family, strangers, your teammates, suppliers, customers,
101
your prosperity, your creativity, and your impact on humanity.
102
Okay, so what is the 20-20-20 formula that lies at the core of the 5am Club method?
103
Well the first 20 minutes move, sweat, you'll release BDNF, brain-derived neurotrophic factor
104
which will increase the neural connections of your brain as well as repair brain cells damaged by stress
105
and also promote neurogenesis which is the formation of new brain cells.
106
I know this is a lot of information but I want to give you great content in this video.
107
Exercising for 20 minutes first thing in the morning from 5 to 5.20, the first part of the 20-20-20 formula, releases dopamine, which is the inspirational neurotransmitter.
108
How valuable is that for your creativity and productivity for the rest of the day?
109
Cortisol, the fear hormone, is highest first thing in the morning.
110
Exercising will reduce it.
111
Serotonin is released, so you'll feel happier.
112
Now it's 5.20, you're full of energy, you've optimized your cognition, your focus is increasing.
113
It's only 520.
114
The rest of the world is asleep.
115
Just imagine that advantage you already have.
116
Second pocket of the 2020 formula is all about reflection.
117
We live in a world where people don't reflect anymore.
118
A lot of people are busy being busy, but what's the point of being busy around the wrong things?
119
So for 20 minutes from 520 to 540, you reflect.
120
You pray or write in a journal meditate, you can visualize, you can script out a blueprint for a great day ahead
121
which habit researchers call a pre-commitment strategy which actually increases your willpower and your ability to get your most important priorities done.
122
Okay now it's 540 from 540 to 6 o'clock this is the final 20 minute pocket of the 20-20-20 formula.
123
The first pocket was about move, the The second is reflect and the third is grow.
124
I've coached billionaires and CEOs and NBA superstars and members of royalty for over 20 years.
125
Here's what I've realized when I work with the best of the best, they love to learn, they love to grow.
126
They don't see investing in yourself or investing in your skills or investing in your growth a cost.
127
They think about the value received.
128
I call it the 2x 3x mindset to double your income and your impact, triple your investment in two core areas,
129
your personal mastery and your professional capability.
130
So for 20 minutes what do you do?
131
You listen to a podcast, you review your journal notes, you read a book, you watch a valuable video, you just do something.
132
You read an autobiography, you do something to grow your capacities and materialize more of the potential you have been born into.
133
And now it's six o'clock, you've optimized your mindset, you've purified your heart set, you've calibrated your health set, you've You've escalated your soul set.
134
You feel fundamentally different.
135
In the 5am club, there's another model called the Four Habits of History Makers, and one of the elements is day stacking.
136
The whole idea is simply this.
137
Get your mornings right.
138
Your days are gonna be fundamentally more energetic, creative, productive, and high impact.
139
And a great week is nothing more than a series of great days, and a great month is the same thing,
140
and a great quarter is just a series of well-lived weeks.
141
And it just continues
142
and creates this upward spiral of success just by getting from
143
5 a.m to 6 a.m your victory hour to world class every morning.
144
Consistency really is the mother of mastery and own your morning.
145
You're really going to elevate your life.
146
So I believe rising at 5 a.m and running my 2020-20 formula
147
that has worked so well for my high level clients for so many years really is the mother of all habits.
148
Hope this video has helped you.
149
If you want to go times 100 deeper, definitely go ahead and read the 5am club book.
150
It's forming a movement already around the world.
151
It's racing up bestseller lists across the planet.
152
And it really is a book that I've worked four years on.
153
I put my heart and soul in the book.
154
It's full of amazing models, real world tactics, world class content
155
that will truly help you own your game, dominate your domain and live a much more valuable and happy life as well.
156

but also so you can do your part to lift the world and make it a brighter place, okay?
