So in this video I want to give you different ways in
7
which you can introduce yourself in English when you meet new people in formal and informal situations.
8
So let's get started.
9
The most basic way to introduce yourself is obviously my name is or I am.
10
Hi my name is Jill.
11
Hello I'm Jack.
12
When somebody tells you their name you can say nice to meet you.
13
So nice to meet you.
14
Really nice to meet you.
15
You can also say pleased to meet you.
16
But that's a little bit more formal so you can save it for work situations or business meetings.
17
Pleased to meet you.
18
It's a pleasure to meet you.
19
This can be formal or informal but it sounds a a little bit more formal than nice to meet you.
20
It's a pleasure to meet you.
21
It's also a little bit more intense.
22
So it's a pleasure to meet you means I'm really, really happy to meet you.
23
When somebody says that to you, you can say likewise, which means also for me,
24
it's a pleasure to meet you.
25
It's really nice to meet you too.
26
Likewise, another way to introduce yourself.
27
Let me introduce myself.
28
Let me introduce myself.
29
I'm Kate.
30
May I introduce myself?
31
Because there is may I eye it's a little bit more formal
32
so you can use it in situations where you don't really know anybody
33
maybe you're at a work conference or a business meeting may i introduce myself i'm jonathan
34
this one is one of my favorites hi i don't think
35
we've met before i'm kate hi i don't think we've met
36
what's your name hi I don't think we've met I'm Kate now this phrase is a little bit more advanced
37
but you will hear it a lot it's nice to put
38
a face to the name it means you've heard somebody's name before
39
but you've never met them so finally you can see their face
40
and you know what the person with that name looks like.
41
It's nice to put a face to the name and
42
if you want to be really nice to somebody and really welcoming you can say I've heard a lot about you.
43
I've heard a lot about you.
44
So maybe it's a friend of a friend and finally
45
when you meet them you can say I've heard a lot about you.
46
So now you know how to introduce yourself in English.
47
What's your favourite phrase?
