1
So I recently heard someone say that God doesn't care about specific prayers, and I was really just dumbfounded that someone could really believe that.
2
And so before we start diving into the list, I want to tell you why God wants you to pray specific prayers.
3
I'm just a girl chasing her dreams.
4
There's ups and downs, there's adventure and excitement, and there's love and heartbreak.
5
I'm on a mission to spread kindness, explore the beauty of the world, and bring light wherever I go.
6
But most of all, I'm determined to live the life I've always dreamed of.
7
come along with me.
8
There are three reasons why you should pray specific prayers.
9
The first reason is that it helps you define what you're asking God for.
10
Luke 18 is a prime example of Jesus asking us or telling us to pray specific prayers.
11
So here we go.
12
It says, as Jesus and his followers arrived at Jericho, there was a blind beggar sitting on the roadside.
13
When he heard the crowd approaching, he asked, what's all this commotion about?
14
It's Jesus, they said.
15
Jesus the Nazarene is passing by.
16
The blind beggars shouted, Jesus, son of David, have pity and show me mercy.
17
Those who were in front of the crowd scolded him and warned him to be quiet.
18
But the blind beggars screamed out even louder, Jesus, son of David, show me mercy.
19
Suddenly Jesus stopped.
20
He told those nearby, bring the man over to me.
21
And when they brought him before Jesus, he asked the man, what is it that you want me to do for you?
22
And so this is such an invitation for God asking us, What is it that you want me to do for you?
23
Like be specific in your prayers.
24
Another example of that is in Matthew 7, 7.
25
The scripture says, ask and the gift is yours.
26
Seek and you'll discover.
27
Knock and the door will be open to you.
28
For every persistent one will get what he asked for.
29
So the second reason that you should pray specific prayers is because it keeps your faith high.
30
And so we have a God all through scripture who longs to prove himself faithful to his people.
31
So 1 John 5, 14 through 15 is a great example of this.
32
It says, since we have this confidence, we can also have great boldness before him.
33
for if we ask anything agreeable to his will, he will hear us.
34
And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we also know that we have obtained the request that we ask of him.
35
So when you ask something of God and you actually believe
36
that it's going to be done and you expect that it's going to be done, it keeps your faith high.
37
It keeps you expecting things from God, which is an important cornerstone to our faith.
38
So in my first video, I talked all about how faith moves heaven.
39
And if you haven't seen that video, I'll link it up here and I'll link it in the comments below.
40
but we talk all about the divine weight and how having faith in God makes the weight easier.
41
It makes the weight better.
42
And so I just wanted to encourage you build your faith by asking specific prayers.
43
There's a book that I'm reading right now called the circle maker, and it's all about how to pray.
44
It's all about the belief in prayer, gives you scriptures and testimonies about how to build your faith to be able to ask God for those big requests.
45
So the third reason that you should pray specific prayers is because it helps you to know when God's answering you.
46
Have you ever been I've been in a situation where it's dinner time and someone's like, what do you want for dinner?
47
And you're like, I don't know.
48
I know everyone's had a situation like that, but it's so funny how someone might suggest something.
49
They're like, do you want McDonald's?
50
And you're like, no. They're like, do you want Burger King?
51
And you're like, no. They're like, do you want Chipotle?
52
You're like, yes, that's it.
53
That's what I've been looking for.
54
That's kind of what praying specific prayers helps you to do.
55
It helps you not to be wandering in the dark, trying to figure out what you're looking for and what you desire, but it helps you to define the need so that when you find it, when you find that Chipotle, you're like, that's it.
56
That's what I've been looking for.
57
After I prayed and fasted, I wrote a journal entry about what I'm seeking God for
58
specific requests about what I want him to do in my spouse.
59
And I want to read that to you.
60
Jesus, first, I just want to thank you for caring about my heart's desires.
61
I have total faith and trust that he is coming to me.
62
It's going to sound so cliche, but the number one thing I desire in a husband is someone who hears and obeys the voice of God.
63
I want a man who pushes me closer to holiness and with whom I can do ministry, who wants to raise our family in the way of the Lord.
64
I want a man who I can trust and who I want to submit to because I know he hears from God.
65
I want a husband who is unwilling to compromise on the calling and purpose God has given to him, to us.
66
I want a man in every sense of the word, someone who loves the parts of me that I hate.
67
I want a husband who is committed to health, physical, mental, emotional, marital.
68
I want a husband who will fight for his family, for truth, and for what's good.
69
I desperately want to marry a man with the family that I can love and who will love me.
70
family time, traditions, and a house full of love.
71
I want a man who is wise with money, wealthy and financially secure.
72
I want a life of ministry with my husband.
73
I want him to be a lover of God's word in his presence, and I want him to be a good dad who loves his kids and would move heaven and earth for him.
74
I want a husband who doesn't shrink from difficulty but grows stronger in faith and character, who is handsome and to whom I'm physically attracted, pretty eyes, good style, and tall.
75
I want a husband whose voice immediately makes me feel like I'm home, who brings out the silly and fun side in me, and who is adventurous and wants to explore the world with me.
76
I want a husband who is unfazed by what the world and culture is saying but sticks to his core values, who is the priest of our home and a voice to a generation,
77
who is willing to go to war to see people saved, who is about the work of the Lord and has fun doing it.
78
I want my husband to exude joy that is contagious and who wants to make a house a home.
79
I want my husband to be my biggest cheerleader who will shout me down while I'm preaching, hold me accountable to my calling, and listen to all the reasons I feel I'm not called
80
or good enough and shut them down with the truth of who God says I am.
81
I want a husband who is likable and to whom people are drawn.
82
And when I look at him, I want to be overwhelmed with how much God loves me.
83
There you go.
84
It's not superficial.
85
It's really getting down to the meat and to the heart of what God would desire for you.
86
I looked at scripture and I pulled promises from scripture and defined what I was looking for in a spouse that way.
87
So I would encourage you to do the same, like pray those specific prayers.
88
And I want you to comment down below your top three things that you're looking for in a spouse.
89
So on the other side, I wanted to tell you, don't think that you're off the hook.
