You have some time to look at questions 16 to 20.
2
Now listen and answer questions 16 to 20.
3
As the final matter for today's meeting, I am delighted to show you the plans for our proposed new extension to the reception area.
4
Please turn your attention to the plan in front of you.
5
If you enter through the entrance doors and go around the sharp corner, you will find on your left the new box office.
6
From this position, the box office manager can both sell tickets
7
and ensure that no visitors are able to enter the museum without paying.
8
From here, if you walk towards the door on the far left wall, you will come across our new children's room,
9
where visitors can leave their children to play whilst they explore our displays.
10
Directly to the right of the children's room is where we originally intended to locate the cafe, but we felt
11
that it would be better placed in the bottom right corner of the plan where we can create a more intimate atmosphere.
12
Due to generous donations, we now have the available funds to build a fantastic new multimedia room where visitors will have access to computers,
13
cameras and TVs.
14
This exciting new space will be in the top right corner, where it is safely away from the entrance doors.
15
Finally, the showroom will be built in the top left corner, directly opposite the new multimedia room.
16
I hope that you are all as excited about this new space as I am.
17
Now that I am finished, I would be happy to answer any questions.

Your Shadowing Challenge: Mimic the Presenter’s Flow

Shadowing is a proven technique to improve pronunciation, intonation, and fluency—and this dialogue is ideal for shadow speech practice. Here’s your task: Play the video segment where the speaker describes the plan, pause after each sentence, and repeat it aloud, matching the pace, stress, and tone. Focus on phrases like "if you enter through the entrance doors and go around the sharp corner" to master connected speech. For extra practice, record yourself and compare it to the original. Use a shadowing site or app to track your progress, but even repeating directly from the video will boost your confidence. This exercise not only hones your listening skills but also trains you to speak naturally, a must for shadowspeaks success and IELTS readiness.
