To effectively improve your English speaking skills using the shadowing technique with Seojun Shim's TEDx talk, follow these steps:

  1. Listen Actively: Start by watching the video while paying close attention to both the content and the speaker's pronunciation. This will help you understand the context before attempting to replicate it.
  2. Break it Down: Divide the talk into smaller sections. Focus on one segment at a time. For example, concentrate on Seojun’s introduction and key phrases for your first practice session.
  3. Repeat & Imitate: Use the shadow speech method by repeating Seojun's words immediately after he speaks. Try to match his intonation, rhythm, and emphasis as closely as possible. This mimicking helps improve English pronunciation.
  4. Record Yourself: After shadowing, record your voice while speaking the same phrases. Listen to your recordings to identify areas where you can improve.
  5. Review & Expand: After you’re comfortable with the phrases, revisit the video to pick up new vocabulary or expressions. Consider incorporating these into your daily conversations. Engage with both the video and additional materials to further your understanding of the topic.

By following this guide, you not only enhance your English speaking practice but also learn to discuss complex issues more fluently. Remember, learning English with YouTube can be a powerful tool when combined with effective practices like shadowing.
