What's up everyone and welcome to episode 2 of the What's Up English podcast.

My name is Carter and before anything I want to say thank you so much to everyone that has watched my videos,

liked, commented, subscribed to my channel.

Just thank you guys.

It is honestly so much more than I thought it would be.

Episode one of my podcast,

I did not expect to get that many views.

Right now, I think it's sitting at like 48,000, nearly 50,000.

That is insane.

I was thinking it would get maybe a few hundred.

I was expecting it to be maybe 1,000, 2,000 views.

And then it just started to blow up.

I released three videos on the same day.

I did that because I didn't want to just release one video and then that's all there is.

So I wanted to release three.

So if you watch one,

then you can go to my channel and watch two others.

I expected the video Speak With Me to be the most successful video.

That video I put a lot of work into and it was definitely not.

the podcast was the most successful one.

So I want that to kind of show you guys that

if you are starting a business or if you want to try something,

if you want to do something new and you're afraid to because you think this will happen or you're thinking,

oh no, no, it won't work because of this and this.

Never assume that you know.

We can trick ourselves to think we know but really we have no idea.

We really don't know what will happen.

So if you want to try something new,

if you want to start a business,

whatever you want to do,

just do it and see what happens.

Another reason why I'm saying that is

because I also did a poll a few days ago on

my YouTube channel asking what my viewers want me to talk about in my next podcast and I said four things.

I said like I think number one was why did I come to Vietnam?

Number two was why do foreigners like Vietnam.

Number three was tricks to get better at speaking English.

And number four was just talk about anything as long as it's slow and clear.

I thought people would want to know why foreigners like Vietnam.

Because often when I go around,

people ask me, why are you in Vietnam?

Like, what made you choose Vietnam?

Do you like Vietnam?

Why do you live here?

And so I assumed that in the poll,

everyone would choose number two,

why do foreigners like Vietnam?

But, of course, that was actually the least chosen one,

so I was wrong again.

So basically, the moral of the story is never assume you know,

and I'm definitely not going to assume I know again.

Alright, so back to the main topic of the video.

Why does it take me so long to release a video?

I see some of the comments.

People are like, please make more videos.

Oh, your videos are so great.

Like, more please.

To be honest, guys, it's because of a few reasons.

The biggest reason is because YouTube is still a new thing for me.

I'm still like learning how to film videos, how to edit properly.

I'm still thinking of ideas on what to make and so what's really important to me is the quality of the videos.

Like yeah I could upload a video each day

but trust me the quality would not be very good and I would probably get really tired doing that.

So right now I'm just learning how to do things in a quality way

and as time goes on as I get more practice then the process will become faster

and I will be able to consistently put out high quality videos for you guys.

So don't worry yes the start is a bit slow but it will pick up and I will put out more videos.

To be honest I love making videos like I love making videos

that are helpful for you guys

when I read the comments of everyone saying thank you

and oh this is so useful and everything like it's just really really satisfying

and so yeah that is the main reason the second reason is distractions life these days just has so many distractions.

It feels really difficult to just sit down and focus on work,

especially when you work at home.

I work both at home and outside of my house,

but when I'm making videos for YouTube,

for this channel, it's all pretty much done at home unless I'm filming outside.

But yeah, there's many things to distract you.

You open up a new tab on YouTube just to take a break

and then you spend 30 minutes watching videos or you get a text

so you look at your phone

and then the next thing you know you're on Instagram

or maybe you use TikTok or YouTube and then you're scrolling through Reels

and it just seems like there's an endless amount of things trying to pull you in and get your attention.

And to make something like a video or to create something that takes a decent amount of time to make,

you need to be able to really sit down and put time into it.

Sometimes the distractions are a lot and that's another thing that I'm working on improving to make the workflow more streamlined.

So also it's not just the distractions from the phone and from,

you know, chores of life,

taking care of where you live and your social life and everything.

I'm also studying in university online so yeah

that takes up a decent amount of time

so the first reason I said was I'm still learning how

to do YouTube basically how to make YouTube videos the second

thing was distractions of life you know we have many things to do I'm sure you all understand

and the third thing is a thing that I have been working on

and it's a bit of perfectionism so when you create a video that has your face on it,

your name, it's you.

And when you're putting that out there for the world to see,

I really care about how it ends up.

I think there's a point of caring that is healthy and a point of caring where it's too much,

like it's unnecessary.

When you start worrying about little details that realistically nobody will notice then that's

when it becomes too much and especially in the beginning I worried

so much about just really small things for example I would

oh is it in the right position is it too close to me

or is it too far like that's just an example

but little things and all those little things add up

and make the whole process exhausting because you're just thinking about everything

and every task you do requires so much thought that

when you think about getting something done you're like oh this is going to be a lot of work

so that's one thing I've been improving I think a lot especially as I see

that yeah I make videos and people enjoy watching them

that really motivates me so again when you guys you know comment saying thank you

and all that stuff I don't reply to all of them of course

and maybe I don't like like all of the comments I simply just don't have the time to do it

and I really appreciate it there's also a few people who commented saying they can edit for me

that I will start delegating tasks to different people to delegate means to basically give work to someone else

if you have three tasks and you do it all yourself you're not delegating

but if you give one task to one person,

Also, you know, YouTube is pretty competitive because as time goes on,

people improve what they do.

I think perfection and caring about the quality of your work is important

because other people are doing videos that are really good as well.

If anyone is going to care about my videos then they have to be decent, right?

I don't want to spend all this time or effort making videos that nobody watches, right?

So that is the reason why it's been taking a while but again guys it will get faster,

I will keep on making videos and I'm going to be making ones that are for you guys,

It's a way of also personally connecting with you guys and at the same time you can learn English from

So we could call this the idiom in English is to kill two birds with one stone.

but that's the idiom to kill two birds with one stone when you accomplish two things with one task basically.

coming up in the future I shot a really exciting video with my friend in Huan Kim Lake.

It was a video where I asked people five questions in English

And it was really, really fun to make.

Like, talking to people on the street,

interacting with them, it's just really refreshing.

I like to sit in the studio like this as well and make videos,

and it's also nice to go outside,

and that was the first time I've ever done that.
