All you have to do is give me seven minutes and I'm going to tell you exactly how to improve your pronunciation.

So number one tip to improve your pronunciation is shadowing.

I think I cannot stress this enough.

And I've even made a very proper video on shadowing.

What does shadowing mean?

It means to mimic.

It means to imitate.

For example, your shadow is an exact reflection of you.

Obviously not with the features and all, but that is your shadow.

So as the name suggests, shadowing means to mimic something, to imitate something.

So same you're going to do with your pronunciation.

You're going to listen to a speaker.

It can be a native English speaker, a non-native English speaker.

As long as they have good pronunciation, you're good to go with them.

You're going to listen and then you're going to imitate everything that they have said.

You're going to listen to every little sound, every little word.

See, when you're improving your pronunciation, it's important that you do not just listen to words, but you listen to sounds.

That's important.

For example, there are vowels, there are consonants, there are diphthongs, there are monophthongs.

So you need to listen to each single one of these so that you can focus on how to pronounce each sound.

For example, if I'm saying sound, so you're gonna focus on how i'm pronouncing sa and then on

so it's sound sound not sound so that's ow so instead of

that you're gonna listen exactly how i am pronouncing for this

you can even just reduce the speed rate of this video for example if it's at 1.5x,

then make sure to decrease it to probably 0.25 or 0.75.

But the thing is, you have to listen to sounds, not just words, not just letters, but sounds.

They are important.

And then you're going to mimic the whole thing.

Then you're going to shadow.

For example, if you listen to me for five minutes and you noted down some words, like this is the first word that I learned, then this is the second one, then this is third.

So if you learned any words, make notes, make a diary, approximately 15 to 20 words,

and then you repeat those words in the same way I've said those words.

Now you're going to record yourself.

I think till now I've never actually told you anything about recording, but recording, it helps a lot with your pronunciation.

For example, if I'm recording a video and if I listen to it once again, then I'm going to see, oh, here, this point, it does not sound too good.

So I already know what kind of mistakes I'm committing or if there are some changes I'd like there to be done.

So same way, you're going to record yourself while you're shadowing.

Then you're going to compare your voice, not just your voice, but your sounds, the way you're pronouncing things to the speaker that you have listened to.

And believe me, when you listen to yourself pronouncing and when you listen to just yourself speaking, you're going to see, oh my God, this is how I pronounce.
