1
Hello everyone and welcome back to 5 -Minute English Practice.
2
I'm your host Jessica.
3
Thank you so much for joining me today.
4
In this episode we are going to talk about a really interesting and meaningful topic.
5
Introverts and extroverts and how we get our energy from different things.
6
Many people still misunderstand these two personality types.
7
Some think introverts loud and love being the center of attention.
8
But the truth is much deeper, and it can actually help us live better every day.
9
To make our conversation even richer, I have invited my good friend, Kathy, to join me.
10
Kathy is such a positive and energetic person.
11
Welcome to the show, Kathy.
12
Hi, Jessica.
13
Hi, everyone.
14
Thank you for having me.
15
I'm really excited to talk about this with you.
16
I'm so glad you're here.
17
Let's start with the basic idea.
18
Kathy, can you tell our listeners where the concepts of introvert and extrovert come from?
19
Sure.
20
Jessica.
21
The ideas were first introduced by the psychologist Carl Jung a long time ago.
22
He explained that the biggest difference is about where we get our energy.
23
Introverts feel refreshed when they spend time alone.
24
like reading, thinking quietly or enjoying peaceful moments.
25
Extroverts, on the other hand, get their energy from being around other people.
26
talking, laughing, and sharing ideas together.
27
That makes a lot of sense.
28
For me, I lean more toward the introvert side.
29
After a busy day at work or a big social event, I often feel tired if I stay with too many people for a long time.
30
I need some quiet time to recharge.
31
For example, I like to sit alone with a cup of tea, write in my journal, or take a calm walk in the park.
32
These moments help me feel fresh and clear again.
33
But that doesn't mean I don't like people.
34
I really enjoy deep conversations with close friends like you.
35
I'm quite the opposite.
36
As an extrovert, I feel full of energy when I'm surrounded by people.
37
Meeting new friends, chatting at a cafe, or working in a team makes me feel alive.
38
But if I stay home alone for too many hours, I start to feel bored and low on energy.
39
I need social connection to feel good.
40
That's so interesting.
41
One common mistake is thinking that one type is better than the other.
42
In reality, Both introverts and extroverts have their own special strengths.
43
Introverts are often very good at listening carefully.
44
Noticing small details, Thinking deeply.
45
and coming up with creative ideas.
46
Many great thinkers and leaders in history were introverts, like Albert Einstein or Susan Cain, The author of the book Quiet,
47
Yes, and extroverts bring lots of enthusiasm, quick thinking, and strong communication skills.
48
They're great at connecting people and spreading positive energy.
49
In a company or a classroom, we really need both types to work well together.
50
Introverts help us think carefully and avoid mistakes.
51
while extroverts help move ideas forward quickly.
52
I completely agree.
53
Another important thing is that most of us are not purely introvert or extrovert.
54
We are somewhere in the middle, what we call ambiverts.
55
It's more like a spectrum.
56
Sometimes we love big parties and sometimes we need quiet time alone.
57
Understanding this helps us be kinder to ourselves and to the people around us.
58
That's true for me, too.
59
I can be very outgoing at a party, but I also enjoy reading a book by myself on a Sunday afternoon.
60
Knowing this has helped me a lot in my daily life.
61
Exactly.
62
When we understand our own personality, we can design our days in a way that fits us better.
63
For introverts, it's helpful to plan some recharge time after social events, choose smaller groups, and use writing or messages to share ideas.
64
For extroverts, it's good to practice listening more carefully.
65
give others space to speak, and learn to enjoy some alone time without feeling guilty.
66
And this knowledge is also very useful in our relationships.
67
If your friend or partner is introverted, Try not to feel hurt when they want quiet time.
68
That's just how they get their energy back.
69
If they are extroverted, they usually feel happier when you ask questions and show real interest in their day.
70
That's such valuable advice.
71
In the end, the world needs both the calm depth of introverts and the bright energy of extroverts.
72
When we respect these differences, we can build stronger friendships, better teams, and a more understanding society.
73
I couldn't agree more, Jessica.
74
Thank you so much, Kathy, for sharing your thoughts and energy with us today.
75
And thank you, dear listeners, for spending this time with us.
76
Now it's your turn.
77
Are you more of an introvert, an extrovert, or somewhere in between?
78
How does it affect your daily life?
79
Please share your stories in the comments or send us a voice message.
80
We love hearing from all of you.

84

86

87
Bye for now.

이 레슨에 대해

"[B2] Introverts and Extroverts: Understanding Our Energy"
