쉐도잉 연습: DO THIS every day to become a magnetic communicator! - 영상으로 영어 말하기 배우기

레슨 만드는 중...
1
Last week, I posted a story on my Instagram about my communication confidence program.
2
Went back to make coffee, came back 10 minutes later, and I had over 1 ,700 queries about the program.
3
I sat there staring at my phone, thinking this isn't just interest, this is hunger.
4
Something about communication touches a nerve in people that almost nothing else does.
5
And that got me genuinely curious about why.
6
Why are we as humans so viscerally drawn to the idea of lacking it almost feel like a threat to our survival.
7
And then I remember something that I read in one of the most eye -opening books that I've ever picked up.
8
Now you will know how Harari, in his best -selling book Sapiens, by the way read this book, fantastic read, talks about the evolution of mankind.
9
And there's one insight in there that most people just gloss over, scan over.
10
But as a communication coach, it completely floored me.
11
Homo sapiens, who just does the scientific name any other species on this planet.
12
And not because we were the strongest or something like that.
13
And also not because we were the fastest.
14
Definitely not because we had the sharpest claws.
15
We evolved faster because of one thing and one thing only.
16
Our ability to communicate words, tones, sentences.
17
These allowed us as a species to do something that no other animal could do at scale.
18
Which is share complex information with each other.
19
We could plan an entire hunting strategy.
20
We could warn each danger and we could tell the next generation, "That berry is poisonous, don't touch it." And suddenly,
21
that lesson didn't have to be relearned the hard way by every single person who came after us.
22
Now think about what that means for a second.
23
If a species couldn't communicate with the other members of its group, they were constantly vulnerable.
24
They'd get ambushed.
25
They'd make the same deadly mistakes over and over and over again.
26
And their growth would absolutely slow down and eventually they'd go extinct.
27
now and here's what I find fascinating absolutely fascinating from my own lens as a communication coach
28
that ancient wiring is still inside us that's why
29
when you feel like you can't express yourself it doesn't just
30
feel like a social inconvenience it feels suffocating it feels frustrating
31
it feels like a threat your nervous system doesn't know you're
32
just in an awkward meeting it thinks you're about to be
33
left behind by the tribe now communication isn't just a soft skills it is the
34
skill
35
but it isn't just a soft skill it is a survival
36
kill it always has been now let me bring this out of the prehistoric caves
37
and into your actual life by the way
38
when i was struggling in my own closest relationships i wish
39
somebody gave me what i'm about to show you i created
40
india's first conflict resolution card game called let's fix it it is a conversational tool that you can with your loved ones.
41
Relationships are like puzzles and each fight reveals a missing piece.
42
And most people avoid fights thinking that fights are going to damage relationships, when in reality, fights don't damage relationships.
43
a lack of repair damages relationships.
44
And Let's Fix It is your repair tool.
45
It helps you create stronger bonds, it helps you solve fights and build stronger emotional bonds.
46
and to make your relationships bulletproof.
47
Now, Let's Fix It is available at beingbeyond .in and on Amazon.
48
Now back to the video.
49
I want you to think about your office, your workplace.
50
You're technically brilliant.
51
Your knowledge is a solid 10 on 10.
52
You know your craft, you do your work, you deliver results, you help the company grow, and yet somehow you keep getting passed over.
53
You're not the one in the room who gets heard.
54
You're not the one people turn to when decisions are getting Someone else, maybe even someone less technically capable than you are, seems to get all of the visibility.
55
And you just can't figure out why.
56
You're just hammering your head trying to figure out why.
57
But I want to tell you something that might be uncomfortable to hear.
58
That room, your office, isn't rewarding your knowledge.
59
That room is rewarding how well you can communicate that knowledge.
60
How you enter a conversation.
61
How you handle pushback.
62
Trust.
63
Your technical ability got you in the door, but your communication skills determine how far you go once you're inside.
64
If I was doing communication work not in social media, if I hadn't come out and talked to you about it, how would you know that I could help you with this?
65
I have spent years coaching individuals and professionals on communication.
66
And I've noticed that people who genuinely transform the fastest, they aren't the ones who read the most books or attended the most workshops and seminars.
67
They're the ones who've built a small number of very specific daily habits that compound over time.
68
So today I'm going to give you the four highest leverage habits that I know.
69
And if you only do these consistently every single day, they will take your communication from a 3 to a 10 in 2026.
70
Not someday, but this very year.
71
Let's talk about it.
72
Habit number one, I want you to set a communication goal before every interaction.
73
Before you walk into any sort of conversation, any interaction, a meeting, a tough talk with a friend, a casual catch -up, even a quick call, just ask yourself this one question.
74
What do I actually want out of this
75
never really do it and it really costs you immensely and it costs them enormously.
76
Think about the different things you might want from a conversation.
77
You might want to have fun, to laugh, to connect, to just enjoy someone's company.
78
You might want to do business, to negotiate, to close, to align on a decision.
79
You might want to learn, to listen more than you speak, to understand someone's perspective deeply.
80
Or you might just want a specific bothering you.
81
Now, this is why this matters immensely.
82
When you walk into a conversation without a clear goal, two things are happening here.
83
Number one is your energy gets scattered.
84
You're half trying to connect, half trying to make a point, half listening, half defending yourself and none of it lands well because you're pulled in too many different directions at once.
85
Second, your expectations are misaligned.
86
You want emotional support from someone who showed up in a problem solving mode.
87
Nobody's wrong, but both of you just walk away frustrated.
88
It's like walking into a gym with no idea.
89
Now I'm going to give you an analogy to understand this better.
90
Think of it like walking into a gym with no idea what you wanted to work on.
91
You'd wander between machines, do a little bit of everything
92
and leave feeling like you did something but not sure if it even moved the needle or did anything at all.
93
Now imagine walking in knowing today, upper body, shoulder strength.
94
Suddenly, every decision yours is purposeful.
95
Communication works the exact same way.
96
How to do this practically now?
97
Before your next conversation, pause for 20 -30 seconds and ask, "What do I want to walk away from this having achieved?" One sentence.
98
And that is your North Star.
99
Well, habit number two, mega habit of calling people.
100
This one sounds almost too simple, too cliched, but I'll tell you why I'm telling you this.
101
In a world that has collectively replaced conversation with a thumbs up emoji and a voice note at 1 .5x speed,
102
this habit is becoming one of the most powerful things you can do for your communication.
103
Call people, actually call them, not a text, not a DM, a real live unscripted phone call.
104
Most of us are getting with edited communication.
105
You know, the kind where you type something, read it back, delete it, rephrase it, add an emoji to soften the tone and then send it.
106
That process, what that process is doing is it's straining you to overthink and underspeak, which is hurting your communication skills.
107
It makes you slow and hesitant in real time conversation because real conversation doesn't give you an edit button.
108
A phone call puts you back in the arena.
109
You have to think on your feet.
110
You have to manage your tone, your pacing, your listening all at the same time
111
and all in real time what a phone call does is it builds the conversational muscle
112
that texting quietly lets atrophy the habit is to pick one person every day
113
and call them instead of texting watch how quickly your real -time conversational skills
114
and reflexes sharpen now habit number three i love this desensitize
115
yourself to the fear of rejection now this is the one
116
that nobody wants to talk about but it is in my honest professional opinion
117
biggest thing standing between you and becoming a magnetic communicator.
118
You know what makes someone truly magnetic to talk to?
119
It's a fact that they are willing to take risks with their speech.
120
They'll say the unexpected thing, they'll make a bold joke, they'll share the unconventional opinion, they'll be a little bit more themselves than the room asked for.
121
And somehow that makes the room lean in to them.
122
But I know what you do instead.
123
You hold back, you edit yourself before swallow that funny comment because what if no one laughs?
124
You don't share your real opinion because what will they think?
125
You dim yourself down to a safe, palatable, boring version of who you actually are because somewhere in the back of your mind, there's a voice that says,
126
who does she think she is?
127
I know I do that sometimes.
128
That fear of counter -reaction, of rejection, of being judged, it is the gunk that is sitting on top of your real personality.
129
So how do you fix it?
130
You You do it deliberately, you do it systematically.
131
For the next 7 days, every single day, find a low -stakes interaction and practice being bold.
132
Say something a little unexpected.
133
Crack a joke with the grocery store, brother.
134
Tell your best friend the slightly outrageous opinion you normally keep to yourself.
135
Push your personality just past its comfort zone in situations where the stakes are low and the consequences are basically zero.
136
system updates its threat assessment.
137
The fear gets smaller, the risk starts to feel exciting instead of terrifying.
138
And do this for seven days straight.
139
By day seven, I promise you, you will notice something shift.
140
The gunk starts to lift.
141
Your personality, your real personality starts to shine through in ways you had completely forgotten and even were there.
142
Because the goal was never to become a different communicator.
143
The goal was always to become more fully yourself who you are
144
and for those of you who don't know communication confidence is a private coaching program
145
that i run every month
146
so what we do there is i diagnose your specific communication blind spots
147
because you know everyone has them including myself
148
and then build a very targeted plan to get you to
149
your communication goals whether that's being more assertive at work handling conflict without shutting down
150
or just feeling like yourself in a room full of people now Build T -shaped knowledge.
151
The last habit is about what you bring into a conversation.
152
And this one is going to change the way you think about becoming interesting to talk to.
153
There's a concept called T -shaped competence.
154
The most valuable people aren't the ones who know one thing deeply and nothing else.
155
And they're also not the ones who know a little bit about everything, but nothing with real depth.
156
The most valuable people in the market have a T -shape.
157
What do I mean by that?
158
where they're genuinely curious, reasonably informed and always learning.
159
Apply this to how you build your conversational self.
160
The most magnetic people you've ever met, the ones you could talk to for hours, had a point of view.
161
They had a lens, a chashma, through which they saw the world.
162
They could take one idea and connect it to something entirely surprising.
163
That's not a personality trait.
164
What that actually is, is that's a knowledge structure.
165
Now, when you put two things contrasting and that shouldn't be together in the same room.
166
When you put them together, it yields a very interesting result, a magnetic result that you can't take your mind and your eyes off of.
167
Now here's what you build.
168
One deep area, the stem of the tea, the thing you are the most genuinely curious about, the thing you could talk about with actual authority and passion.
169
Go deep on that.
170
Own it.
171
And three, four soft areas, things you enjoy exploring even if you're not an expert.
172
culture, economics or spirituality.
173
You just need to be genuinely curious and paying enough attention that you have something to say.
174
Now this crossover between your deep area and your soft areas is where the most fascinating conversations are happening.
175
When you can say something totally unexpected that connects two completely different worlds, people stop and go wait.
176
I've never thought about it that way.
177
Now that is what makes you an interesting communicator.
178
Not performing and definitely not showing off, just having a genuinely rich inner world that spills naturally into the way that you talk.
179
So those are your four habits.
180
Now let me bring all of it together quickly.
181
Habit one, set a communication goal before every interaction.
182
Know what you want so you can actually go get it.
183
Habit two, call people.
184
Get your real time conversational reps in every single day.
185
Habit three, desensitize yourself to rejection.
186
Start small, stay consistent for seven days and watch the real you come through.
187
Now habit four T -shaped knowledge.
188
Go deep on one thing, stem of the T, stay curious about many and let the crossover make you the most interesting person in any room.
189
None of these are complicated, you know that.
190
None of them require a course, a certification or a complete personality overhaul.
191
They just require you to show up every day and do the small thing.
192
And I want to tell you something and this is coming from someone who has spent years in this work.
193
Your communication is not broken.
194
It was never broken.
195
It's just been sitting underneath layers and layers of gunk and fear,
196
habit and self -editing, withdrawal that have slowly muffled the version of you that actually has something to say.
197
So stop censoring yourself.
198
Your job isn't to become a better communicator.
199
Let me correct that for you.
200
Your job is to stop getting in the way of the communicator that you already are.
201
And you can start that today with one phone call, one small act of boldness, one honest conversation, one honest question before your next meeting.
202
Start there and then let me know how it goes.
203
I'm always watching your replies and stories.
204
I'll see you in the next one.
205
So take care of yourself.
