Let's get the absolute basics out of the way.

Eight hours of sleep, exercise, cardio, good diet.

Most guys will buy some stimulant or nootropic without committing themselves to a good night's sleep and a good meal and exercise.

So please don't be the person who does all that.

Make the investment for your health.

Sleep is where the brain gets cleared out, memory gets restored, BDNF gets produced.

Exercise allows your brain to actually function and your diet is going to be the thing that keeps you going.

It's going to be hard at first, but just like with any sort of muscle, the more you train it, the easier it gets, the stronger it gets and you can make it fun, you know, learn some kind of game, learn a new hobby, something that gets newer pathways growing in the brain,

This is not a fix, but these are some things that are going to get you closer to your goal and help you build your brain up.

Let's look at caffeine, for example.

Caffeine blocks adenosine receptors, which just makes you not feel tired, even if you still are tired.

It's the same thing with any sort of ADHD medication.

It's not going to make you focus.

These things ultimately end up spiking your cortisol, destroying your baseline stimulation, and causing you to be reliant on them forever.

And then you get caught in a trap where you can't get any work done without taking some sort of stimulation.

If you do them right, you can be like the guy on the left, focused, working hard, being able to recover quickly, and not having it affect their brain too much.

But it's very easy to get caught in the feeling and the euphoria and the work that gets done, and end up like the guy on the right, absolutely destroyed, crashed, and with a fried brain.

So if you are going to use stimulants, be careful, do your research, I don't condone any of them, and see if they are right for you.

Of course, talk to a doctor if needed, but be careful to not fall into that hole.

Reading is such a popular self-improvement habit, and it's kind of a waste of time for a lot of people

if you're just reading the information but not doing anything with it or practicing active recall.

So what active recall is, is essentially thinking back to what you just read or learned.

So every time you go to study or work, write down everything you know beforehand about the topic and then fill those gaps in the research session.

This allows you to stop wasting time, but also trains your brain to be able to recall old information while effectively learning new information.

Another absolute cheat code is getting good quality light exposure, both in the morning and at night.

So if you get sunlight in the morning between like 30 to 60 minutes of waking, you're going to spike your cortisol in the morning, which is good.

Additionally, if you're going to sleep with your phone right in front of you or bright overhead lights, you're going to be destroying your sleep and your circadian rhythm.
