15
you can ask them to me on LinkedIn.
16
Also, in return, tell me the name of the airline
17
that you're applying for or that you're being interviewed for in the comments section below this video, and I will come on here each day
18
and give you a list of specific cabin crew interview questions that I think you should prepare for for that particular airline.
19
Okay, let's get straight into the tutorial.
20
Now there are three different types of cabin crew interview question that you need to prepare for.
21
There are motivational type questions, interview questions such as why do you want to be cabin crew?
22
Why are you the best candidate and what can you bring to this role?
23
There are also behavioural or situational type questions where you have to respond by giving evidence of how you answer the question.
24
So the question might be, what's the best example of customer service you have ever seen?
25
Describe a time when you were flexible in a work related scenario.
26
Describe a time when you delivered excellent customer service
27
and also describe a time when you remained calm in a difficult and pressurized situation.
28
And there are also knowledge -based interview questions.
29
And these are questions such as, what challenges is our airline facing right now?
30
And how can you help us as cabin crew to overcome these?
31
Okay, so motivational questions, behavioral type, and knowledge -based interview questions.
32
And that's what we're going to focus on today during this tutorial.
33
So question number one, why do you want to be cabin crew?
34
Now, this is a motivational type interview question, and it's probably going to be one of the first questions
35
or the second question that you could get asked during your cabin crew interview.
36
So it's important you get off on the right foot and that you give a unique answer.
37
So how do you give a unique answer to that cabin crew interview question?
38
So when responding to this one, concentrate on covering the following elements.
39
Start off by giving them the main reason why you want to be cabin crew.
40
Now, that might be your ambition, it could be your passion, or perhaps you have flown with that airline before
41
and you have been suitably impressed with what you've seen by how the cabin crew operate and the service you received.
42
Think about the suitability of your personal qualities and attributes that are relevant to the job description.
43
So if you think about the personal qualities required, the fact that you have to be someone who takes responsibility,
44
a positive role model, you enjoy the variety of the role as well.
45
So think about the positive aspects, variety, flexibility, working with other people, the responsibility that you will have as well.
46
Also, you need to be someone who enjoys helping others.
47
Okay, cabin crew are really patient in their role, and they have to be able to deliver outstanding customer care.
48
Now, I already alluded to this a few seconds ago, and one of the great things to mention within this particular response to the interview question, why do you want to be cabin crew,
49
is that you'd like to be a positive role model
50
and an ambassador for the airline because the airline can only succeed if cabin crew do a brilliant job, okay?
51
Because the passengers
52
will spend a lot of time with cabin crew and then they will form an impression about the service they have received.
53
So here's my sample response for you.
54
And by the way, I'm going to tell you where you can download these slides
55
and get a copy of the responses during this video.
56
This is This is something that I've wanted to do for a long time.
57
I can remember flying with your airline many years ago
58
and I watched how the cabin crew worked together to make the flight experience perfect.
59
I can also remember one of the cabin crew dealing with a passenger who was having a problem with their child.
60
The way she dealt with the situation made me realize cabin crew have so much responsibility
61
and they also need to have a diverse skill set.
62
For those reasons, I very much want to be part of your team
63
and help you take your brand forward by providing excellent service and care to your passengers.
64
Now, although I enjoy my current job, I would now like a career that is more challenging, that is more varied and exciting.
65
Having studied the job description of Cabin Crew in detail, I believe my own personal qualities would suit the role of Cabin Crew,
66
and I get great satisfaction from working in a team environment where everybody is working towards the same goal.
67
Now, I understand
68
that delivering a high level of service to the customer is a great way is a priority in this industry, and this is something I would enjoy doing." So that's a great,
69
solid response, and it covers those other things that I mentioned before.
70
It talks about the positive aspects, how your skill set matches it as well, and the reasons why you want to join their particular airline.
71
Next cabin crew interview question.
72
Describe a time when you dealt with a difficult customer.
73
Pretty much a guaranteed question.
74
Now don't forget, this is a situational type question, and how you respond to this is using the STAR technique week.
75
You tell the interview panel the situation you were in, the task that needed to be done, the action that you took, and then the result.
76
So when I give you the answer to this question, we're going to break it down in situation, task, action, results, and make it easy for you.
77
Okay, here we go.
78
In my current job, I was covering a customer care assistant during sick leave.
79
A customer approached the desk to make a complaint about the poor service she had received the previous day.
80
It was my job to deal with the task effectively, collecting as much information as possible and resolving the issue to the satisfaction of the customer, whilst also following company complaints procedures.
81
I started off by listening carefully to the complaint, whilst showing effective listening skills and soft body language.
82
After I had listened to the complaint, I asked a number of probing questions to get to the bottom of the situation.
83
I then apologized to the customer and explained how I was going to resolve the situation.
84
I finally asked them if they were happy with my proposed resolution, to which they they confirmed they were.
85
The result was a success as I managed to resolve the complaint to their satisfaction.
86
I replaced the faulty goods they had received and also issued a credit note due to the inconvenience that had been caused.
87
The customer was very happy with the resolution and thanked me for my professionalism." Now, you can see that this response that I've given is in detail and it is using situation,
88
task, action result
89
and that ensures that you provide evidence of
90
when you've been in this type of situation because what they're doing with that question, describe a time when you dealt with a difficult customer, is it's basically the same as what you'll be doing when you're cabin crew.
91
And if you've got evidence of when you've already done that, then you will be able to cross -match those skills within the cabin crew role.
92
Okay, next question.
93
This is a knowledge -based interview question.
94
What challenges will our airline face in the future, and how could you as cabin crew help us to overcome these?
95
So this is what I would think about.
96
So this type of question serves two main purposes for the interview panel.
97
The first purpose is that it assesses how much you understand about the airline industry in terms of its competitiveness.
98
The airline industry is really, really competitive, and cabin crew have to do a brilliant job
99
because customers or flight passengers will only come back if cabin crew do a brilliant job.
100
Now, the second purpose is that it assesses your awareness of how influential cabin crew staff are in their role.
101
Cabin crew are some of the most important employees of an airline airline.
102
If passengers have an unpleasant experience during a flight, then they're unlikely to return to that airline because they've got choice.
103
There are so many different airlines to choose from, and obviously competition is fierce.
104
So staying ahead of the game and providing an exceptional level of service is really important to the airline.
105
Now, even if the airline is low budget in terms of its airfare price, it is still important that the cabin crew staff are friendly, helpful, and totally customer focused.
106
So here's my sample response.
107
The airline industry is extremely competitive and the expectations of the customer is always on the increase.
108
People generally want to pay less for their service, but they still expect a high level of customer service.
109
Now, in addition to the competitiveness of the modern day market,
110
there is also the issue of security and the financial implications this has in terms of additional training and advanced security measures.
111
The cost of fuel and salary expenses will continue to increase, which will undoubtedly influence the cost of the product.
112
Therefore, it is important that cabin crew provide the highest level of customer service at all times.
113
Customers are prepared to pay that little bit extra for a high quality service and cabin crew are responsible for delivering it.
114
Ensuring the customer is satisfied with the service will mean they
115
are far more likely to come back to the airline time and time again.
116
More importantly, however, they will recommend the airline to their friends and relatives.
117
So that is an intelligent response to that question and it shows
118
that you understand the impact that you have on the role and the fact that passengers will come back.
119
So other things that you might consider when responding to that interview question, you might think about the carbon footprint and the impact of air travel on climate change,
120
taking payments on board as we progressively move away from a cash -based society, ensuring all routes are profitable and managing the increased demand for flights.
121

This video is ideal for English learners at an intermediate to advanced level aiming to boost their speaking skills, especially for job interviews. Whether you’re preparing for a cabin crew role or want to refine your professional communication, the structured dialogue and clear explanations provide perfect practice for language learning and interview readiness. It’s also great for those focusing on speaking practice in real-world contexts, as it models natural, confident responses to common questions.

Words & Idioms Worth Stealing

  • Get off on the right foot: Start well. Example: "To ace your interview, focus on getting off on the right foot with a strong opening answer."
  • Alluded to: Mentioned indirectly. Example: "She alluded to her past experience without going into detail."
  • Suitably impressed: Very impressed. Example: "The hiring manager was suitably impressed by his preparation."
  • Ambassador for the airline: A representative who promotes the company. Example: "As cabin crew, you’ll act as an ambassador for the airline, reflecting its values."

How to Get the Accent Right

The speaker uses clear, conversational English with a neutral tone—perfect for pronunciation practice. Focus on: - Stress in multi-syllabic words: "Responsibility" (re-spon-si-BIL-i-ty) and "ambassador" (am-BAS-sa-dor). - Intonation in questions: Notice how the speaker raises their voice slightly at the end of rhetorical questions, like "So how do you give a unique answer?" - Pacing: The dialogue flows at a natural speed, making it ideal for the shadowing technique. Repeat sentences aloud immediately after the speaker to mimic their rhythm and clarity. Pay attention to pauses between ideas, which help convey confidence in spoken English.
