5
My goal is to help
6
is to sound and speak like an American I am here for you.
7
during your journey.
8
Today is Monday and Mondays are usually difficult for most people.
9
Yesterday was Sunday and I don't spend a lot of time on my day off relaxing.
10
Or I should say, most people when they think of relaxing,
11
they think of maybe reading a book or sitting on the couch and watching TV.
12
But for me, it's my time to catch up on things that I did not get to do throughout the week.
13
Do you know the term catch up?
14
You can use catch up in several ways.
15
So you could say that you're catching up on some tasks,
16
which means you are completing tasks tasks or things that you were supposed to do that you did not get to do.
17
Another way to use the term "catch up" is
18
when you are meeting with friends that you have not seen in a while.
19
Those are really good idioms to know.
20
Last week, I worked Monday through Saturday.
21
On Sunday, which was yesterday, I did a lot of YouTube,
22
I worked out, and I worked on my online shop, which is on Etsy.
23
Recently, we have many products that we are selling.
24
We are selling mugs, which are cups for hot beverages.
25
Most of our products are pet products.
26
but they are custom or personalized.
27
Do you know what that means?
28
It means that a customer would send or submit a photo of their pet
29
and we would put that pet's photo on the mug along with the design
30
hours and hours every day, but more so on Sundays, which is both of our days off.
31
So today is Monday.
32
I was really tired last night,
33
so I thought that when I woke up today I would be even more tired,
34
but I don't know if it's the rain, it's raining a little bit today.
35
It is giving me a lot of energy.
36
And growing up in Baltimore, I experienced many rainy days.
37
And I am my happiest when it's raining.
38
It was a very busy day at work today.
39
This is what I do on a normal basis at work.
40
Bye.
41
open the office when i say i open the office it usually means
42
that you are getting the office ready it doesn't always mean
43
that you are physically opening the door it means that you will
44
come in it is ready for the day.
45
If you did not know I work at a skincare clinic.
46
We offer facials, lasers, and injections.
47
Throughout the day I speak to clients
48
and on the phone as well as in person about their skin goals and i will talk to them about
49
different types of treatments or services to help them to meet their goal and sometimes Did you miss me?
50
Oh my gosh.
51
Hi.
52
I think she's in a playful mood.
53
She missed me.
54
Sorry, I got distracted with my cute dog who is still trying to get my attention.
55
Did you notice?
56
She has a bandana on.
57
She's matching mom.
58
Sometimes I will talk to clients about their skincare routine or regimen.
59
Routine and regimen, I think are pretty similar words.
60
to take care of your skin, feel free to leave a comment
61
and ask me what questions you have about your skin or tell me what your skin goals are.
62
Everyone's skincare routine or regimen should have a cleanser and that should be done morning and night.
63
You should cleanse your face twice a day.
64
And then you should apply some kind of serum depending on your goals.
65
Serums are usually in a form of a liquid, or
66
something a little bit thicker than liquid and then you should do an eye cream if you would like to
67
de -puff your under eyes puffy under eyes can happen because of your natural body's water can help with that.
68
Excuse me.
69
Excuse me.
70
My cat seems to be very curious about the smell of my jacket.
71
Maybe because he can smell the raindrops.
72
After eye cream, I recommend to apply a moisturizer,
73
But let's break down the word moisturizer.
74
If you are familiar with the word moisture or moist,
75
it's adding hydration so that your skin does not feel dry.
76
Fine lines is another word for small wrinkles.
77
And during the day on top of your moisturizer you should apply Sunscreen. Or...
78
You might hear some people say "sunblock" However, I usually only
79
use the word sunblock for when you are on the beach and you are specifically applying a cream
80
that is meant to block the sun which is a little bit different compared to sunscreen because the
81
Thank you.
82
He's on my lap.
83
This is his favorite place to be.
84
At nighttime, you should do the same exact routine,
85
except no sunscreen, because obviously you will not be in the sun.
86
You will be sleeping in the dark.
87
routine that I recommend for everyone.
88
Me Personally, I do cleanser,
89
about four to five different types of serums.
90
a cream, an eye cream, a sunscreen, and then of course my body cream.
91
And I do that again at night.
92
Other things that I do at work is I...
93
check in clients when they arrive.
94
Check in means that the client comes to the appointment
95
and I will go to the computer system and press a button or button that
96
says they have arrived, which then will notify or let my co -workers know that their client is here.
97
hear someone ask if they want still water.
98
Still water and flat water are the same thing.
99
Just so you know.
100
Maybe it would be helpful if I said to you,
101
how I normally ask a client if they would like something to drink so that you can hear it in normal speed.
102
So I would say, would you like still or sparkling water?
103
Would you like still or sparkling water?
104
And then I will tell them that their room, their facial room, is ready.
105
So then I would say, you can follow me this way.
106
Your room is ready.
107
You can follow me this way.
108
Your room is ready.
109
Then I would instruct for them to wear a robe and get under the bed.
110
So I would say, "Go ahead and put on a robe and you can get under the bed."
111
This probably sounds really fast, but this is what it sounds like when I talk to people.
112
go ahead and put on a robe.
113
So I said, go ahead and put on a robe and get into the bed.
114
Get into the bed.
115
Then I normally call clients who came in the day before to check on them,
116
to ask how they were doing, if they received a strong treatment.
117
When I say strong treatment,
118
I mean a laser or injection like Botox or filler.
119
It is my responsibility at work to make sure that the clients are
120
taken care of which means that they are happy and they have everything that they need and they've
121
asked all the questions they want to ask, but most importantly, it's all about their happiness.
122
So throughout the day, I will call clients and check on them.
123
I also will go over, which means
124
cost of these treatments or quote them.
125
Quote can be a physical noun,
126
which is like a piece of paper that shows all the pricing, but
127
Quoting can also be a verb or to quote is a verb
128
which means that I am going over pricing or discuss pricing.
129
Discussing pricing.
130
I will also talk to clients about any complaints or concerns that they may have,
131
and I will try to make it better.
132
An advanced word, which means to make something better, is rectify.
133
You rectify the situation.
134
You make the situation better.
135
So I will have to do that throughout the day.
136
And sometimes the clients will, I don't want to say yell at me,
137
but sometimes they get very impatient, sometimes a little bit mean and rude.
138
where people pay a lot of money to look good and some people are never happy no matter what.
139
But again, my job is to rectify the situation or make it better and I've been doing this for
140
send some emails throughout the day and I will text clients throughout the day.
141
If my boss or the owner is requiring some help, I will help wherever I need to.
142
So I would love to know, what do you do at work.
143
Give me three sentences of what you do at work.
144
That way you can practice your writing skills as well as your spelling.
145
I hope you learned some new verbs today, some new vocabulary.
146
content where I am just speaking to the camera, I'm not moving around.
147
Is this boring?
148
Or are you okay with me not going outside and filming a different environment For me,
149
as a language learner myself,
150
I just need to hear how a native speaker speaks and I also would like to read the subtitles.
151
Personally, I don't think it's necessary to always view a beautiful scenery.
152
I just want the lesson.
153
So let me know what you you are encouraged to learn on a daily basis.
154
Please share this video.
155
with your friends if they are also
156
learning English and thank you for your support if you've watched all the way to the end.
157
I will see you next time.
158
Bye!

Since the video features a slower pace, it’s ideal for beginners and those looking to enhance their English speaking practice.

For an effective shadowing exercise, find a quiet space, use a shadowing app if available, or simply play the video on repeat. Focus on mimicking the intonation and rhythm of the speaker’s voice. Pay attention to phrases like "catch up" and "open the office" to understand their contextual use, and try to incorporate them into your daily conversations.

Remember that the goal is to develop a natural flow in your speech, so practice the shadow speech until you feel comfortable with it. Repetition will help solidify your understanding of the vocabulary and the overall language structure. Don’t hesitate to pause the video to repeat phrases as often as you need, allowing you to master each one before moving on. Happy practicing!
