Shadowing Practice: Days in the Art Studio - My painting Process, Creating Textures with Earth Pigments - Art ASMR - Learn English Speaking with Video

Creating lesson...
1
Hi everyone and welcome to my art studio ♡ Over the years many of you have asked to see more of my painting process. So, I thought  I would try something a little different.
2
A video series from my art studio where you  get to follow along as I work on my art.
3
In most of these videos there won't be that  much talking and probably a lot of very long scenes with mostly sounds of the brush strokes  which I hope can bring a sense of calm.
4
My goal with these videos is to just let you join  my process and hopefully bring you some inspiration.
5
My art studio is one of the places  where I feel most at peace. There's a certain energy in this space, a kind of stillness  combined with creativity. In here I feel like I can breathe a little deeper and I hope  that somehow you can feel that energy through the screen when you watch this. And this  is the first video in this new painting series and in this one I am mostly working on  the early stages of my paintings, building the textures, preparing the surface and laying the  foundation before the painting really begins.
6
I always spend a lot of time on the textures  and I often mix my own paste out of nature materials.
7
And this video is made from  different moments in my art studio, filmed during several days and weeks this  spring. So sit back, relax and let's begin.
8
Hello ♡ I am preparing a new canvas. I am actually  spending a lot of time just preparing a bunch of canvases now so that I can go crazy painting  later. But I honestly enjoy this process so much!
9
Spending a lot of time with the structures is   like part of the whole process. And I love to start painting on a perfectly prepared canvas. Like when  a texture is amazing then it's just another feeling to paint, you know. I'm making this kind of  paste with earth pigments, limestone sand and then I always add an ingredient to this  that is very special to me, i'm going to show you.
10
I have a bunch of bottles with  water and this water is very special.
11
It's water that I picked from a beautiful  waterfall in the North of Sweden, in the very North of Sweden, on the border to Norway. The waterfall is called "Silverfallet" which means "The Silverfall". And I shared about this in a video  when I picked this water, so I have a few bottles that I use when I paint. Sometimes I just mix  some drops in when I do the textures and sometimes I mix it with some watercolor paint. But  I'm also saving a bunch of bottles because I would like to make like a special water collection  of paintings where I will use much more of the water. But for this paste that I do I just  use some drops just to add some magic, I guess.
12
This is the texture I did yesterday with  the limestone pigments and the drops of water from the silverfall. It looks so nice,  i love this! It almost looks like stone.
13
So this is a texture I worked with yesterday  and it has finally dried so I can continue on it.
14
So I am so happy with how these cracks turned  out. It's always like a chance, you don't really know how they will turn out but I loved this!  These are perfect. It's a very tiny painting.
15
For me this is super tiny, I like to paint really  big. I have actually ordered linen now for a really big canvas, like two meters point one  and a half meter or something like that.
16
I'm excited for that. So this, I don't exactly  know the size of this one but it's very tiny for being me and I just feel  like I want to try it out a little bit.
17
I'm just painting over with a layer of gesso  before I will use color on this texture.
18
Thank you so much for watching this first  video from my art studio. I look forward to share more as I continue on these paintings  that I started. I hope you enjoyed it and that it could spark some inspiration in you.  And remember, whatever lies inside your heart, whatever is waiting to be expressed, just  start. Just let it out in whatever form it takes ♡

Practice Tips

As you watch the video, focus on the artist's speaking style, which is calm and deliberate. Use the shadowing technique by repeating phrases right after you hear them. This will help you mimic not only the words but also the rhythm and energy of the speaker. Since the pace is generally slow, you can easily catch every word and mimick the artist's expressions.

Consider using a shadowing app to record your voice while you practice. This will allow you to compare your pronunciation with the original audio, leading to better improvement in your speaking abilities. Additionally, engaging with this shadowing site will enhance your vocabulary in the context of art, helping you articulate your own creative ideas in English.

Lastly, feel free to pause the video at key moments, especially when the artist discusses her techniques or shares personal thoughts about her work. This interaction can deepen your understanding and help reinforce the vocabulary learned. Use this unique opportunity to explore both the beauty of art and the intricacies of the English language!

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
