Hi guys welcome back to another video about IELTSpeaking part 1
2
and today we're going to talk about cooking
3
which is to me a really difficult topic and without further ado let's start with the first question
4
Hey Yenny did you learn to cook when you were a child?
5
Yeah my mom is a really good cook
6
and she taught me how to cook when i was just a little girl At first, I didn't expect to enjoy doing it,
7
but it turned out to be really fun and interesting making tasty dishes for other people.
8
I don't want to brag, but my culinary skills are quite good.
9
How about you, Jimmy?
10
Well, I must confess that cooking has never been my favorite pastime.
11
So when I was a kid, I didn't care much about it.
12
My younger sister was really passionate about it and she usually spent time in the kitchen preparing meals with my mother.
13
But I wasn't interested at all.
14
Okay, second question do you often bake
15
yeah i really love baking i have an oven at home
16
and every once in a
17
while especially on weekends i spend around one to two hours
18
baking some desserts for my family i usually go online to look for some baking recipes
19
and then try them sometimes it's worse sometimes it doesn't
20
but it brings me a lot of joy
21
and you well you might find it hard to believe
22
but never have i baked anything before um as i said earlier i'm not a fan of cooking
23
and i don't have an oven at home either besides based
24
on my observation baking is not really a popular cooking technique
25
in vietnam especially for home cooking the third question what kind of things are baked in your country Well,
26
I guess it's like other parts of the world The Vietnamese usually bake bread or desserts
27
Sometimes you may see people bake chicken or pork but it's kind of uncommon.
28
For things like meat, fish or vegetables, we prefer using other cooking techniques such as stir frying, simmering or grilling.
29
I think so too.
30
All right, fourth question.
31
Do you think baking is a healthy method of cooking well as a person who is really passionate about cooking
32
and spends a lot of time reading articles about cooking techniques i can say
33
that baking is one of the healthiest cooking methods scientifically speaking it requires little
34
or no added oil
35
so it does wonderful our health what do you think well just to be clear i'm not a culinary expert
36
so i'm not I'm not quite sure about this, but I remember reading an article on the internet and it said that
37
baking is considered one of the healthiest ways of cooking.
38
So I think yeah, it is.
39
Okay, last question.
40
Do you prefer eating home-cooked meals or eating out?
41
In fact, I love both of them, but I tend to gravitate towards home-cooked meals.
42
It is mainly because for me, homemade dishes are usually cheaper, safer and healthier than street foods or even food in a restaurant.
43
When you eat at home, you don't need to worry about things like food hygiene or food poisoning.
44
How about you?
45
Well, I don't cook so I enjoy going out to eat more.
46
I can save lots of time on preparing the food or cooking.
47
And I also don't have to do the dishes afterwards which is a wonderful thing to me.
48
Yeah, I guess that's also the end of today's video.
49
Thank you so much for watching.
50
I hope this video has been useful for you guys.
51
Until next time, bye bye!

About This Lesson

You're practicing English with "IELTS SPEAKING PART 1 MODEL ANSWERS - COOKING | Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 1 chủ đề "Cooking"" using the Shadowing technique — a method originally developed for professional interpreter training.

Focus on sounding like the speaker — not just repeating words. With 15–30 minutes of daily practice, you'll build real-world speaking confidence.

What is the Shadowing Technique?

Shadowing is a science-backed language learning technique originally developed for professional interpreter training and popularized by polyglot Dr. Alexander Arguelles. The method is simple but powerful: you listen to native English audio and immediately repeat it out loud — like a shadow following the speaker with just a 1–2 second delay. Unlike passive listening or grammar drills, shadowing forces your brain and mouth muscles to simultaneously process and reproduce real speech patterns. Research shows it significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, intonation, rhythm, connected speech, listening comprehension, and speaking fluency — making it one of the most effective methods for IELTS Speaking preparation and real-world English communication.
