Mr. Tom Hollinsar, I'm going to begin with you because, correct me if I'm wrong,

you did some internet research about what the fans maybe wanted to see in this next installment before we came here?

Tell me about it.

Yeah, I mean, it's always been really important to me to feel like a representative of the fans

because I loved Marvel as a kid.

And, you know, I was first in line to see the Iron Man movies, the Thor, Captain America's, the early kind of pillars in which we stand upon now.

And in the break that we took between Spider-Man No Way Home and Brand New Day, all I would do is comb through the internet and try

and get a really good sense of what it is that people wanted.

So, you know, this time round is the first time I've been let into the creative process before Penn has hit the page.

And, you know, bringing the voice of the fans to the writers' room,

I think, has really gave us a leg up in creating something that's really fun and different.

And you know they really wanted this street level Spider-Man movie that felt Relatable that didn't necessarily feel like saving the world,

but maybe saving himself And I really think that we've done that.

I love that.

Oh, what was your favorite little nugget that you that you uncovered?

Do you have one?

I think I have to keep that a secret

I have a bit of a reputation

and I think fourth time is a charm I want you to not spoil anything in this press tour, and this is day one.

So we will not be spoiling anything today.

I don't want to get you in trouble.

Listen, Dayamam, listen, I think we all fell in love with the three of you's dynamic in the first one, but we didn't even know you were MJ until like the very final moments,

but she's such a unique character that we've gotten to know over these past four films.

What do you sort of keep with her as she's changed over these four films?

Yeah, it was fun to kind of, I've never been in a situation where you're like, you're revisiting a character at a new point in their life.

And it was kind of fun to imagine, you know, what their lives have been like since we last saw them.

And also keeping in mind that Peter is not a part of those memories or that life that maybe she wanted before.

So just kind of, I don't know, just trying to build our own little world and existence and how much she's maybe matured,

how much is like her, you know, adorable, dry sense of humor still with her, you know?

Is that the quintessential MJ?

Yeah, I think the MJ that we've built from the past, which I still kind of wanted to carry some of that.

I was like, I feel like a little bit she's grown out of some of it, but at the heart, I think that's who she is.

And I don't want to leave that behind.

So I remember we kind of did a pass of some of the scenes.

And then we kind of did a re-MJ-ifying pass where we're like, she's a little not weird enough.

Like, we need to bring a little bit of that back.

You know, she's still who she is at the core.

So that was fun to kind of find those moments again.

Yes, let's keep the awkward MJ.

Yes, let's bring that back.

Jacob, sir, I'm gonna let you tell me what Ned

and MJ have kind of been up to in this moment

where they're kind of getting to live their own lives while he's out Spider-man-ing.

Yeah, well I think they were able to carry on with their dreams that they had from No Way Home, unfortunately without Peter.

And I think that we were able to really bring

that to life in the sense of we actually grew up and are having jobs and doing normal adult things now.

And that was pretty great.

And it's sad to say that we probably had a great time without Peter

because we were able to build these lives and truly become who we were supposed to be.

And we're still carrying those character quirks.

I think Ned is still incredibly obsessed with Spider-Man.

Even though he doesn't- Really know what?

Yeah, he just woke up one day thinking, I kind of want to know who that guy is.

Yeah. So, yeah.

I dig that.

I dig that so much.

Also, I saw some of the stuff that y'all been up to in the trailer.

I love some of it.

Some of it I don't like.

and to portray these characters on the biggest stage is such an awesome full circle moment for the pair of us.

And one of the things I love about Destin, our director, is that he is so open to improvising,

collaborating, you know, taking big risks and stuff like that, and he really allowed John and I to just kind of run with it.

And what was on the page was the kernel of an idea that turned into this, like, awesome big brother, little brother bickering relationship.

Like, the banter between the two of us is really, really awesome.

And he's so great and I love trying to figure out how you take a very

R-rated character and fit him into our world without changing him

and it presented an opportunity for us to really dive into the comics and pick out our favorite kind of snapshots that,

Which was a really fun idea in the writers room, was an absolute nightmare in practice because,

you know, Destin had this ambition to shoot them in super slow-mo, which means that there is no room for error.

You know, like any kind of wayward leg or arm is really, really accentuated in slow-mo.

So, you know, I know the shot of Spidey flying into the hand.

I want to say the one they use in the movie is like take 65 or something like that.

So, you know, it really is an indicator into Pong, our second unit director, and Destin's ambition for it to be perfect.

And, you know, that obviously presents some challenges to the performance of those stunts.

I would say my favorite thing about Tom Spider-Man is how Tom handles Spider-Man outside of Spider-Man.

So, because, you know, so many people connect to this character, to Peter Parker, to Spider-Man, and especially young people, especially children.

And I think that he's just handled that weight with such grace

and really loves and cares so much about the character and what the character means to other people.

And realizing that, like, when you are in front of these kids, you are Spider-Man.

And I just loved seeing what and how you carry Spider-Man through your life in real life
